I totally relate, Dessy. We adopted a small dog. We were his 3rd home. He was given to a friend because the breeder felt he was too big to be a profitable sale. That friend was a working batchelor, having no time to care for or house him. We took him so often that the friend suggested that we take him. So we did. He was with us until 16th year. When he passed I was overwhelmed with grief. I feel that he heard my grief..it didn't help but I'm sure he did. I made his picture my screen saver on my phone.

THANK YOU for making this video. I'm sure it was a difficult story to share, and yet -- I think that the sharing is part of the healing process. Our golden retriever died of cancer in June of 2024, at the age of 11. Just a few days before Christmas 2024, we were able to adopt a "new" (to us) golden retriever who is 9 years old. His family had raised him from a puppy, then moved to California, into a big house with no yard for him to play in. For the sake of his happiness, they offered him up for adoption, and we were the winners. He was a great Christmas gift, and he is quirky, but we love him already. ❤ May the good Lord comfort you both.

Poor thing was dying that is why she couldn’t eat. When the body is shutting down they can’t eat. I am so sorry. We watched that happen to my dad. We didn’t know he was dying. His lungs was filling with fluid as well. It is so hard when our fur babies pass away.

Did she have heartworm before you rescued her? I'm asking, because my dog is going through the same thing. The vet thinks she is 12 and I've had her 3 years, just like you guys. They actually look alike. I'm so sorry for the loss of your sweet dog.

Keita was fascinating ever since she appeared on your channel. I wished that there was regular content on her while she was still healthy. It was very hard to watch in a video about her dying... and I'm not sure if it was wise to make a public video showing this angel passing away. Anyways, her previous humans abandoned her, but I'm glad she was adopted by you two who loved and cared for her. She was smart, gentle, caring, and truly special. Rest in peace, Keita.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Our pets are members of our family, so I've been through this before. I think that you did everything you could, when it's time, it's time. The first sign that a dog or cat is entering their final phase is the loss of appetite and loss of weight. We lost our beloved beagle eight years ago and I still think of her every day.

She had a good life with you and she is now not suffering anymore. I wish you comfort in this time of sadness 😢. We also planted trees over the graves for our sweet doggies that passed. When I pass their trees, I say hi to them.❤

Oh Dessy and David! So sorry! Nothing worse than losing a doggo. They are the best! You did everything you could with the most important thing was giving Keita a loving place to live out her last years. ❤❤❤We had to put our 14 year old doggo Jasper down 6 years ago and I still get teary thinking about him and how good of a friend he was to us. Keita was a good girl!

I’m so sorry for your loss . I was watching Keita and I thought she was doing fine on the farm. I thought it made her life better. She looked so good. I thought she may have been find. I lost my Max a few years ago. So hard to go through.

I'm so sorry for the loss of your sweet dog. She had the greatest years of her life with you. My rescue cat died last year at age 15. I got him when he was around ten. I sure do miss him.

So very sorry for your loss. I know the pain. We lost our dog of 13 years in September. Knowing we gave him a loving home as you did with Keita brings some comfort. You were lucky to have each other.

I sorry keita passed away ill miss her cute little face. being a small dog and being 12 years old, she would be 64 for a small dog in human years and 69 years for a medium size dog. I remember her hunting for mice in the large hay rolls you had a long time ago. 👍🙋🐕‍🦺
