Very nice boats you have! Just building a 1/16 RN MTB. Do you have any idea where I can get 1/16 RN figures for the MTB?

Are all of these large scale models scratch built or are there kits available in this size? I am looking to buy a larger scale or already built model of the 63 foot HSL for static display.

I was serving on HMAS Melbourne in 1969 when we collided with USS Frank E Evans in the South China Sea. The Evans lost 74 sailors. I'm building a 1/72 scale R/C model of Melbourne because it was home from 1965 to 1973. Previously built Melbourne in 1/96.

Do you build models? Nothing looks worse than a scale model pretending it is a racing boat! I have been building working model SHIPS for over 75 year and hate to see some of the ridiculous models planing. And to call someones honest efforts a heap, shame on you.

Can't this heap go any faster? Destroyers are supposed to be fast.

Best thing about such small models is that the smallest of ponds become large oceans due to the scale.

Thanks for posting this. My dad was Captain of a PCS during WWII patroling the Florida Straights. All I had ever seen was an old black and white aerial photo of his ship... it was really nice to get to see some details. Nice job!

Looks great, I also have one at that scale but 3d printed. At first that's what I thought yours was too but great it's a traditional scratch build and lot of good scale detail there. Can I ask what motor and prop size you have used? as mine has a habit of toasting motors even with motor cooling, I think I have a prop that is too big.

Finally, something small enough for my 3d printer lol

Paul Griffin asked. Those are very accurately placed portholes and scuttles. How did you make the holes? I've found using a standard twist drill in thin wood gives a very raggedy finish. Reply: the portholes on Exeter are actually small washers.... to drill them out would be a nightmare there's 72 on Exeter it's cheating l know but no one has ever noticed in years WULL

Every time I watch these video's I am amazed by the skill of these modelers and quite jealous of their skills. I tried my hand at basic plastic models and found I had shaky hands that made a ship that resembled nothing on this planet. I was even ashamed when people saw it, even when it was headed for the trash.

The HMS Aldenham was the last British manned ship to go down during the second World War.

I thought that it was a kit that could be bought. I didn't know also that it was a remote. Love it though as my dad walked the decks along with his Shipmates. Some I've met a few times at the HMS Aldenham reunions. Thank you for the reply.
