And this is why NPs are wholly unqualified. You’re motivated for yourself and not your patients. Whatever suits your needs and not the needs of your patients. Online learning has destroyed the NP profession.

Having a nurse perform this assessment alone leads to an OBVIOUS nursing bias here, despite PAs being equally as capable. Also, the medical model prodices better clinicians, which is why there is research that supports NPs - specifically in the ED - leading to higher unnecessary hospital admissions, higher return visits to the ED post-treatment, and more frequent consultations with physicians. As an individual pursing my NP, this video is not accurate and is highly biased towards painting the NP to be the superior clinician, when their scope of function is equal. Arguing a few states allowing NPs to function more independently is not a flex. The fact you eliminated the Doctor of Medical Science degree PAs can pursue, while listing the DNP proves further bias. Be honest and unbiased here. This is a terrible representation of NPs vs PAs.

As a nurse, I found myself on the other side of patient care due to a recent hospitalization. I don't flaunt my RN status when I'm the one in the bed, but I have to say, the nurses who took care of me were incredible. It made me even prouder to be part of the profession. Funny enough, during my stay, an old nursing school buddy was on duty and spotted me while moving a patient to my unit. God bless all of your nurses out there! You guys are the glue in the medical field

Well said. As an RN for 40 years and now nursing professor with my PhD, I can tell you that the LVN/LPN is a job to nowhere; those jobs are only available, for the most part, at nursing homes. If you want to be an RN, then go for the RN. Too often students of color may be steered into those programs by well-intending advisors. DON'T DO IT. ADN programs offer a path into nursing for those who can't afford a BSN route or maybe don't have the grades or availability; however, they also limit your growth as an RN significantly. Many hospitals will not hire RNs without their BSN. The BSN has long been a preferred standard for any RN, the lobbying efforts to maintain the ADN (i.e., all those community colleges) is a big reason. Plus in more rural areas, community colleges sometimes partner with local hospitals to create a pipeline to get students jobs directly out of school. These students then all have to get their BSN (often part-time, online) once they're a practicing RN. A very popular, albeit expensive newer program is the Accelerated BSN program. Students with a BA or BS in another field take prerequisites (online partime for 1-2 years) then get into the rigorous, fast-paced 1-year program. They're in and out in 1 year making RN (BSN) salaries. Also, besides all the reasons mentioned, COVID has caused many RNs to leave nurse, retire, or shift to lesser acute areas. That means new graduates are getting the jobs in ICUs and emergency departments that might have taken them a few years to be hired into. Now is the time to be a nurse. That being said, nursing is not for everyone. Get used to ALWAYS working every other weekend; working night shift for the first several years; working half the holidays; being dead-tired after a 13-hour shift with just a 30-min lunch often; being emotionally drained. I highly recommend you first volunteer in a busy hospital for a year to see what it's like, to ask questions, and to see if nursing seems to fit your personality, lifestyle, and career goals. I still work in the ER as a bedside nurse because I love caring for patients in their time of need. It makes me feel whole, worthy, and needed. Nursing was the best decision I ever made right out of high school.

I was really hoping that the PA was going to be different between a Physician Assistant and a Nurse Practitioner. I see a difference in training but nothing to change my feeling that I would see a big difference and from what you said it may even be worse. As you are claiming NP's are more patient orientated. I had a horrible experience with a Nurse Practitioner in my Urology’s Doctors office. In my area most Doctors have a PA or NP in their office. I now refuse to be treated by any Nurse Practitioner. I now see that I have to add PA's to the list since there doesn't seem to be a difference. My NP more or less said this is what they have decided and I just need to do as they say. No options no discussion just do as you are told. It may have been their bedside manner that caused the problem (to give the best case scenario). It does lead me to just look else where and stick to what I have decided. I will no longer go to either. I may slow down getting health care but I dont need some one talking down and treating me like some none feeling human being that they need to get handled and move to the next patient. The experience was so bad that I no longer trust any medical people to be honest or give their best. I don’t know about others but it is a terrible feeling to go into an office and think that you may not be getting the best answer or all the options to your problem. I thank you for the information
