This episode is with the Aussie renaissance man, Character Art nomad & my current top 1% in the industry, Tom Newbury.
If you've ever picked up a piece of software and put it back down because it was too difficult, Tom's probably pretty good at it.
Tom has an extensive experience in a range of different studios, from ILM, to Blur and Weta just to name a few.
He's now currently working at Altered FX and loving the challenging work thats been presented to him.
We chat everything from taking chances, his ideal work/life balance and what's important to him in a job after over a decade in the industry.

Great tutorial really helpful. Any advice or resources on how to achieve getting one of the full body scans from a scan store full body rigged and working so you keep the true likeness?
eyy cheers man! im guessing you mean in unreal? Id do a similar process, to be honest, but now as of 5.4 they have released rigging inside of unreal. so you might just be able to import the scan straight in and rig it there without any wrapping! I'm gonna start experimenting with it soon

Awesome work👏👏 I also want to go through the entire process for Unreal Engine, but it's too difficult. In particular, it is even more difficult because of the omitted part in the middle. Where can I refer to learn this entire process?

If i just zwrap and then use metapipe .( No need mesh to metahuman ) .if you already want that face feature then there no reason to go for zwrap.. totally pointless ( my English is bad ,)😁

Hey! yep so in the games industry that would be job of a rigger, not a character artist. If you were to animate this character in UE5 (sort of easily) would be to skin it to a UE5 skeleton, the use the rig inside of UE5. If you would be interested in this workflow I can do a video on it! Cheers

@@animarch3D Kinda sorta. The scale issue keeps screwing me over when I try to export it from Zbrush into Unreal. It's usually too big or too small.
I'm also trying to figure out how to do stylized eyes that are bigger then the actual metahumancreator can do but I haven't found a work around for that either.
