The symptoms of trauma can be so de-railing and when present are so clearly brought on by the incident that in some cases it is discussed from the one month period. It is always going to be more ethical to treat the symptoms of trauma rather than make someone wait an arbitrary watchful wait period.

From my own experience it's not that bad. I had to have two shots of anesthetic for them to take one mole on my chin. I had my eyes open since my head was tilt back and I just stared at the ceiling. Nothing was felt after the second shot but I could feel the blood run down my neck but nothing got on my clothes. When you get anything removed from your face there will be more bleeding than if it was somewhere else.

@@uvsarah So I’m not an expert in ADHD so I thought I’d copy & paste a Goodreads review of my book below (which was written by a professional who works in this area) as it seems to sum up some of the related issues as they see it: “I have really enjoyed this book and found it so helpful. I bought it as I work with neurodivergent people, many of whom are regularly experiencing burnout. I wasn't sure how relevant it would be to Autistic and ADHDer's experience of burnout, but I needn't have worried. The book takes really complex ideas and makes them straightforward. This book covers the impact that alexythimia and differences in interoception may have on noticing and naming what is happening in our bodies, which is so important for neurodivergent people. The book explains the polyvagal theory and the impact of trauma. But perhaps most importantly, it helps reframe burnout as something caused by a nervous system being in a constant state of stress, rather than a person not trying hard enough. All of this is so relevant to everyone in this modern world, and particularly to neurodivergent folk who experience so many more daily environmental and sensory challenges and stressors.” I hope this is helpful and starts to answer your question x

I was so disappointed this week to see the private healthcare company I work for has advertised a voluntary AP role. They are asking someone to work 1 day a week (8 hours) unpaid. The cheek of it is they even state previous AP experience and an MSc is preferable. They are asking so much of applicants but not even willing to provide financial compensation. Not to mentiom this private company has no shortage of funds! I currently work on a 0 hours contract for £11.60 an hour. There is no way I could afford to give up 8 hours of my time for free. And why should I or anyone else for that matter? I find it absolutely disgusting and so unethical.

This video is brilliant and truly insightful! I love the direction and depth of the chat. Would also love to see a similar exploration of the mature student psychology journey. While many challenges remain the same, mature students have unique challenges, especially international students. I am curious to hear about others' experiences balancing responsibilities, returning to study, pressures, and understanding other requirements, which can be tough navigating alone. Visas and dealing with imposter syndrome add more layers. Thank you for sharing the success stories and building solidarity. Such great content :) X

Hi I am doing a bachelor's degree in Mental Health & well-being at University and I am a second year. I want to be a mental health wellbeing practitioner. and I have a question. What job can I get while I am studying? Can I work as a practitioner while I am studying? or what other career job can be embraced within mental health? thank you.

Thanks for your comment. You can’t be a mhwp whilst doing your undergrad but you could be a support worker or carer. That would likely fit nicely around your studies.

Thank you for this, very brave. Unless you have had the emotional abuse behind closed doors as some people have, you will not and cannot grasp how destructive it is. ❤

And Dana been through trauma bc she helps her siblings break the cycle and curse of her family. Her sibling died? Thats got to be so much grief. I can’t imagine not having my sister near me. I’m so sorry Dr.Dana you are a human too and need to be uplifted and encouraged. Yea I am still trying to ask the proper questions. I think asking right questions has to do with your attachment style and relationships and just schemas ingrained ways of thinking. Babies are born innocent. Only 2% of the population is born psychopathic. Relationships don’t mean anything if they are not deep and enriching. I used to be deeper and very empathetic till I just wasn’t anymore. I can only imagine how many people who are in the helping fields cry themselves at night. Hopefully soon you can do less evaluations and leave it to your assistants. And be able to run your company with some very knowledgable talented loyal and ethical persons. 🎉 and filled with happy memories.

Private Investigators? Sounds cool! My mom used to hire P.I.s to watch her employees who say they are hurt or disabled due to a work related injury and then turns out they are out and about not injured at all.
