4 easy drum songs (or 400 if you learn these frameworks)
Thanks so much to JP Bouvet for doing this "4 Most Important Drums Grooves" video: ua-cam.com/video/t2A2UDmrgsw/v-deo.html. It has really helped me take a head-spinning amount of drum content, and good things I could be focusing on, and boil it down to the essentials for the musical styles I like to play.

I wanted to take these same four grooves and in realtime show how you can start to manipulate them to create new grooves that still live in these four basic families.

    Have you considered a little lesson on Double and Triple paradiddles? Accenting the first 2 single rights and first 2 single lefts of the double and first 3 single rights and first 3 single lefts of the triple.. You do a great job in your explanations and have very down to earth attitude. I often play double Paradiddles in triplet form. Very interested in your approach.

    Yea this is no good when you're playing metal, play a solid 2 hour set of hard rock and metal and your hands are trashed, especially if your a hard hitter and playing songs that require you to really put some balls into it to drive the song. Only solution is taping up fingers or drumming gloves

    Just Liked and Subbed! What a great lesson! My weak left hand is retarted. First of all ive noticed something very interesting. So for years when i did rudiments like a parradiddle, while watching my right stick it makes a smooth white line like when you perfectly wave a fan it looks like a perfect straight line. Well no straight fan line when i look at my left stick motion. The lest stick is making little unwanted circular motions. So forever ive been trying to make it match the right stick motion which is perfectly straight. Well the other day after still not understanding why The left stick movement does not do that perfect fan motion. Heres the problem i identified when I tried to perfectly mirror my 2 hands. My godamn left thumb is straight and barely bends back while my right thumb is completely curved almost like a halfmoon in shape. So that seems to be why im having so much trouble for years getting my left to mirror my right. I am very courios to see if anyone else notices they have this issue. I would love to hear all your comments on this. Buy the way I have made a big improvement with making my left stick look lesser circular motion but its been way to much time to get it to work right, im talking 10 years. So if both of your thumbs bend back so they curve like a croissant you are a lucky drummer. Watch different drummers thumbs I think ease of stick contron has a lot to do with natural hand shape and curve thumbs that can curve backwards a bit. Like some dudes were born with better drumming bodies physiologically. Alright back to working on my retarted straight left thumb😉

      @tempoleaguedrums Місяць тому

      Thanks for the like and the sub! And thanks for checking out the video. Keep at it! It’s hard to fully understand without a visual but the weak hand definitely gives everyone fits, get in solid reps and it will for sure start to feel better.

    I've gotten back into working on this again. I agree you have to work this slow with a metronome as you are doing. Another idea to keep the left hand the same is to practice both hands at the same time. Seems to "encourage" or train your left hand so that it's not as awkward.

    I get the most comfort in playing German grip for drums but French grip with cymbals. With the German grip, it is easy to play fast and smooth singles and doubles around the kit while staying loose. You want to play cymbals lighter, so French grip works very nicely for that. There is also the 'middle finger fulcrum' grip, where the pointer finger is loose and the stick is held mainly with the thumb and middle finger. All in all, I think many different grips work, depending on what I am doing.

    • @tempoleaguedrums
      @tempoleaguedrums 4 місяці тому

      Thanks for sharing! So middle finger fulcrum is how you still get your fingers involved in German it sounds like. It still seems like the fingers wouldn’t be as effective that way but if it’s working for you that’s great

    Quickly I want to point out-you guys are always talking about hands, fingers, wrists-which is fine,, BUT your shoulders are also involved!! They have to be healthy and balanced,, they should “hang” off of your spine symmetrically on each side…. And yes,, you are responsible for balancing them as well as whatever work you are doing in the hands and fingers.

    Man I have been practicing finger control for the last 2 weeks and I'm seeing no improvement at all. I've been playing for 18 years but I'm self taught and never practiced any technique stuff so I've developed some really bad habits with my weak hand. Do you have any tips?
