Dave Pallone:The Infamous Altercation with Pete Rose
Переглядів 1,1 млн15 років тому
This play happened on April 30, 1988 Pete was upset with me on the call and eventually got thrown out for his temper tantrum :) He was fined $10,000 and suspended for 30 days for his actions...
Dave Pallone's Message

This video is really my mission statement. Respecting yourself, and respecting others for who you and they are is the key...Whether you're an employer, an employee, a college professor, a college coach, a student or student athlete, this is one message I try to communicate to all!!
You got off easy! YOU made a bad call and should have had your lip busted for it.
If I was Pete, I would not want to be touched by a🏳️🌈man either.
Was Pallone gay?
I love Pete!
at 2:02 the umpire hit pete rose on face so what pete could do retaliate lol
Pete is God!
Rose had $2k on that game.
You don’t live in Cleveland you live in Cincinnati. Hahahahahahaha yeahhhhhhhhhhhh
Pallone was a terrible umpire. I'm a Mets' fan, btw.
I was there! Blue seats first baseline, first row. Heard it all go down.
Pete must've had a lot of $$ riding on this game, huh?
HOF player and manager
The umpire was wrong
Esasky (whose career was cut short due to vertigo when he played for the Braves) should have thrown and hit Mets coach Bill Robinson, then the Reds could have claimed obstruction because a coach is not allowed in fair territory when the ball is live. Fans used to bring radios to the games to listen to the call (the stadium was set up so there was no seven-second delay like you would have if listening in the car at home - can't explain the process) and when Marty and Joe went off, they went nuts. This was when Bart Giamatti was the National League President and Peter Ueberroth was commissioner. I think the two shoves of Pallone was what got Pete 30 games. I read Pallone's book (interesting read to say the least) and he wrote that none of the other umps on that crew had his back but had to back the suspsention because of Pallone's scab status.
He was out at first though
Moral of the story, don’t touch Pete’s face. Lol
Never argue or fight
Pete Rose attacked a gay man. Shame on him.
Pete should have been suspended for that bouffant hair-do.
Pallone came out of the closet later.
Rose was peeved, he lost a lot of money on that game.
Dave Pallone hated the Reds, simple as that.
Legend
Did he have money on the game?
Its funny the umpire in question looks like Angel Hernandez
Maybe Pallone bet on the game. That would explain the delayed call !
If you think Angel Hernandez is bad, Pallone was far worse.
As per usual, Tim McCarver has no freakin clue what he’s talking about.
Why was McCarver so sure he was safe at first? from the camera angle you can't tell, if anything it showed the runner out
Pallone was a ball sucker
Well, as Joe Nuxhall said, "Pallon's a SCAB anyway!!" I don't care how you lived your personal life. But, you proved you are a PUNK, literally a Punk.
Who the fk does he think he is? Hopefully he was suspended or fined acting like a. . . hole!!
Charlie Hustle had money on that game.
that shove pete gave was deserved. Umps are a bunch of whiney children.
Dave Pallone’s finger hit Pete in the face. In an interview with Dan Patrick, Dave said he never touched Pete. Mmmmmmmmmm
0:37 rose shoves pallone
People remember Pallone from this event but they forget that he was a horrible umpire. And a terrible person as well IMO. He’s always claimed that being gay was the reason he was fired from MLB. Though he was widely disliked, considered incompetent and reportedly linked to some really dark stuff that I won’t mention here. After baseball he made a career pretending to be martyr for the gay community, writing a book, lecturing and doing talk shows. Claiming everything bad that ever happened to him was because he was gay. Think a “gay Colin Kaepernick”. Few cared about his sexual preference. Just make the correct calls and don’t be a jerk. But he didn’t make correct calls and he was a jerk. He came into the league as a scab when the umpire union went on strike and used replacement umps. When the umps came back to work, he was one of a few that they added. Allegedly not because he earned it. Now that we have current ump, Angel Hernandez, Pallone is not the worst ump ever. Coincidentally, Hernandez is also an incredible pain in the butt. Blaming those (everyone that sees video) who criticize him as racist, as he is an Hispanic man. He sued MLB for discrimination.
Concepcion’s Jersey cracks me up
Wow Pete was upset. He must have had a lot riding on that game.
Pete should be in the Hall of Fame, and before he dies. He has done his time, especially now in this era that allows the gambling industry to run professional sports.
Pallone cost Pete some money that day.........he still needs to be in Hall of fame.............
You really think Pallone belongs in the HOF?
I'd bet... Pete could take him ?
The ump definitely moved in close on Rose and made contact. Rose was careful and the idiot Pallone poked him in the face. Ump should have been fined and suspended. Besides, the runner was clearly out, 1rst basemans foot was on the bag.
Whereas other cities have rowdy fans,,,Philly,NY come to mind, Cincinnati was never know for such outbursts. They almost had a riot that night. MLB could no longer duck the issues that Pallone had.
One thing you must be aware of. Pallone said openly that he would mess with Davey Concepcion. Blocking his view. You can google some articles about this matter. Pallone also had feuds with other players.
that was around the same time manager Rose was betting on Reds games
Pallone poked Pete in the face. Pete was simply defending himself.
Dave is a lying piece of sht. He made Pete bleed after hitting him in the face. Even the commentators saw it. Dave wrote in his book recently that he didnt touch Pete and that he was just crazy. Unfkgbelievable
We were there! My wife at the time was working for a Reds photographer that we got the tickets from. They were the first two seats next to the dugout in the first row. Maybe the closest seats in the house to the play. Not all the stuff that was thrown made it to the field.
this whole account is committed to this play, and for good reason. pete's innocent
