Very informative indeed. You have taken the pain away from a novice like me to actually take off my front wheel on my R1250RT, thank you for sharing!
Heck w/ gentle, man handle that thing. Didn't see sensor bolt torqued. Forgot to compress front end prior to tightening axle, pinch bolts, & caliper bolts. See maint. sect. of o/m.
Thanks for this, you're a master!
Great video. I have a 2022 R1250RT and the fender is a little different but I was able to lift the front of the bike up a little and roll the wheel out. First time taking the wheels off any bike and it went very smoothly. Thanks again. Cheers.
If the crankshaft has any movement, mine has about half a mm of play, do i have to replace it
Thanks for the video. Did you do anything differently on the LEFT side? I seem to be having lots of problem mounting the Aux light on that Wunderlich bar with the extra hole. The Left OEM Aux light bar has a special steel molding with screw treads inside and that's the only hole. When I placed the Wunderlich bolt through it, the lock nut and the bolt can screwed all the way in but it does not lock the black color Aux mounting bar from freely moving.
Superb video! I have just purchased the exact same RT and have been fretting over whether to fit the Wunderlich bars. Some reviewers point to YT for videos on how to fit them and yours is spot on. Happy riding!
Excelent video, what happend with the rest? ... we want more KLR 650 jejeje
great video series! looking forward to part 10 and the rebuild
Is there not a video of it going bacn together 😭
Reverse of removal. Watch it backwards if you need to. 🤣
How does the jacket behaves in the cold weather (not necessarily in winter) when you add some layers underneath? Have you tested that?
I am going to try the mounts first.
Very informative. Thanks! Greg from Sacramento.
Anti clockwise? I’m assuming you mean counter clockwise? Maybe your way is saying it is regional, very interesting.
FANTASTIC TUTORIAL! Thanks so much for the effort and care on this video. You are greatly appreciated.
海外でも愛されるkawasaki が好き。あなたもステキです。
Whatever happened to the KLR, I'm still trying to put mine back together 😢
No new content? No klr?
I'm a little late, but nicely done! Your filming was excellent showing detail up close and your dialog was clear and concise. I have a 2024 model with my name on it coming in February. Hopefully sooner, because it's really hard waiting for it, haha. They are pretty expensive, but I do plan on fitting the Wunderlich bars as I prefer their mounting and aesthetics to the Ilium Works version, even though Ilium's headquarters is just down the street from me.
Did you install the Wunderlich bars? I just bought a 2024 two months ago and my bars just showed up. Curious on if there were any changes to how the video shows fitment?
@@TheXplorr2 I did not. Its seems most of the engine bars for the RT are in roughly the same price category, but I ended up with the ZTechnik brand. ZTechnik is a brand specifically designed for BMW by National Cycle. I liked their design in that it doesn't need to be removed or loosened for oil changes or valve adjustments (not the end of the world otherwise). Two other features made me choose this brand over the Wunderlich bars: no need to move or alter the position of the fog lights, and aesthetically they look fine. The only thing that might be a negative is one of the left side bars comes very close to the cylinder head - like fractions of an inch close. In retrospect, I would still get the Wunderlich bars as an option. Oh, I don't think there's been any fitment changes to the Wunderlich's.
Is it same on kawasaki klr 600?
Precisely. I’m currently rebuilding my 600 1985
Something about turning the engine the wrong way while finding tdc wouldn't allow me to take any of the rest of the video seriously. Sorry.
Brilliant, good job man.👍👍👍👍👍
Excellent video
I too wish we had more
Excellent series, thank you for all 6our efforts, any idea when the rebuild series will be available?
Is there a conclusion video, such as it cost to much to replace that many parts ?
When I removed idler shaft that holds balancer chain tensioner (doohickey) A washer on the inner shaft fell off behind the inner case, down by the sump. How did that washer fall off and get to where it did? I'm referring to the assembly you advised us to zip-tie "to keep assembly as one entity" Hope that was clear, thank you.
Thanks for sharing this instruction. Very helpful😊
Great video! I have a quick question regarding the wheel space. It is only on the left side of the wheel as you show it at 8:55 or both sides? I took the wheel off without realizing the spacer exisiting, now I only found one :(
Excelente explicación. Muy útil.
Do you know roughly how many klms the engine has done.
Thank you for the very detailed instructions. My Wunderlich bars are arriving today and, with your help, I plan to install them without any hesitation or complications. I especially like your heads-up with the R & R of the plastic parts. Greg from Sacramento.
Were the jackets cool to wear with good air flow?
Nice work
Excellent video ! One Q though what’s the nM tension for the lower front and the top front I got the 54nM for rear but want to get the others right … cheers
Very good video.. I have some Givi bars to fit to mine and whilst I am sure they will be a bit different to fit, to these, this is a very useful video so that I have some idea of what to do/expect. The instructions that come with the Givi Bars is absolute rubbish. I cant find a video for fitting them on an R1250RT 19/20 with fog lights. Thanks for taking the time to do this video. I have this one saved!
I wanted to install the front GIVI bars on my 2020 R1250RT; however, the issue is that my motorbike is equipped with fog lights, and the GIVI Bars do not have a place to mount the bracket.
No continuation of the KLR videos??? 😪😪😪😪
Brilliant video/instruction. I just installed these on my 2022 R1250RT, and while not a exact match I was able to figure out the minor differences. Thanks very much!!!
Great video, very helpful. My only issue is the left side fog light wire harness is an inch too short. I haven’t figured out how to create relief in the harness to allow it to connect. I’ve removed a couple zip ties to no avail.
I just installed the bars on my 2022 RT and I have the SAME issue! Left side fog light wire is too short to reach the new position of the light! Did you find a solution for this issue?
@@adferrao4040 I guess we know it’s a design flaw. I order a set of fog light brackets, but they’re coming from China and won’t be here for another 2 weeks. I went to my dealer and they didn’t have any brackets and didn’t find anything I thought would work with a quicker delivery time. Here’s the description “2 Pcs Motorcycle Driving Aux Light Fog Lamp Bracket For 25mm Mounting Diameter”
@@retiredjetmechanic6219 thank you. The link didn’t connect, what’s the make and model# ?
Same issue here. The left side fog light wire is about an inch too short also, 2020 RT. Unless somebody finds a resolution to this design flaw, all I can think of is to extend it by splicing and adding two inches of wire.
I didn’t like how far forward the fog light was pushed using then OEM mount, plus i didn’t want to splice the original wire harness. I found mounts, from a company in China, which clamp to the crash bars. The wire harness is just long enough to connect to the fog light.

Hello, thanks for the vid. Any tips for removing the cir clips that hold the gears on the input and output shafts? I've got a 2013 replacing the input gear, for 3rd. The circlips dont have a place (hole) for normal circlip pliers to grip. Thanks
Thank you so much for these very well filmed step by step videos... I knew I would be too lucky to get the complete set of videos putting it back together so hopefully I'll have learned enough from disassembly 🤞
Hi there, I'm looking to completly rebuild my kawasaki klr 250 engine... Would the 250 be the same as the 650? I hope so as I can use your well put together video 🤞
What year is your zephyr?
Very "gentle" presentation. ;-) Honestly, I just finished performing this very task on my 2022 R1250RT while watching your video, and it went VERY smoothly. Your instructions were spot-on, and nothing was left to chance. Thank you very much for documenting this; extremely well done.
hall, where can I find the kawasaki klr 650cc 1994 connecting rod kit
where can I buy connecting rod kit for kawasaki klx 650cc 93-96
4:47 of watching the white line..really? Is that it.?
You've definitely missed the point....
Thanks. I got very efficient at tire changes on my Blackbird, but I have an RT now, and watching you do the entire process will get me up to speed that much faster.
Thank you for this great video! Very useful. My clutch is near the end. I will change it to EBC SRC. Did your experience is good after this time?
Many thanks - Yes the replacement works very well
