Long Road Productions™
Приєднався 20 бер 2021
Long Road Productions began in 1994. The original videos profiled members of the American Truck Historical Society and their vintage heavy trucks. After a few years I began a series on vintage light trucks, after that, a video on Street Rods & Customs and one on Muscle Cars. The last video to be duplicated on DVD was "Trucks with Two Sticks". That was in 2005. I started a UA-cam channel in 2010 and uploaded 10 minute versions of a bunch of my old projects.
I started a project around that same time totally disassembling a '57 Dodge pickup and filming the progress. Ended up with a lot of modifications. Everything came to a screeching halt in 2015, long story... but I am now getting back into creating new content armed with 4K cameras. The new stuff will be filmed and edited with my UA-cam audience in mind. The reason I'm starting this new channel is because I changed my e-mail address and no longer have access to my old channel. Another long story.

Pacific Fuel Injection Services
Переглядів 355Рік тому
Gus Pfister, owner of Pacific Fuel Injection Services in San Francisco moved to California in the 70's to run a Bosch fuel injection service facility. When Bosch no longer wanted to be involved in dealing with the older pumps Gus was able to purchase the equipment and continue rebuilding mechanical injection pumps for the 300SL, 280 six and eight cylinder engines and Porsche 911s. And a few BMW...
AC on the Mountain
Переглядів 61Рік тому
In September 2022 I drove out to California to shoot my friend Rolly's '57 AC. So we thought it would be cool to do it up on Mt. Tamalpais. Almost no traffic. At the time California was suffering through one of the worst droughts in years. But what did it do on the mountain? Yup...it rained. After a while we abandoned the idea and did a shoot the following day on Lucas Valley Road. Anyway...her...

I first met Bob Arrigoni in 2019. He was nearing the end of a 280 SL restoration project he began with his son Peter around 2012. The car was completely disassembled and restored with the help of some very talented automotive professionals. I drove out to California from Massachusetts in May of 2023 to document the amazing work these guys did on this beautiful old Mercedes.

Lindsey do you still sell the copies of the ATHS Members Volumes 1,2,3,4?
I'm sorry I don't. My duplicator closed their business after 35 years due to so few people buying DVDs anymore.
What talent to get this down the road, too many start over mistakes would be hard to swallow. 2 years ago, I had the pleasure to drive and haul with a '53 that had been restored in the 80's with a CATERPILLAR and a 10 speed before it was sold at auction. What an experience!
Gene Blackmore was one of the best!! And a very nice guy...
What a nice project ! Thank you and your team for this wonderful 280 SL 🎉
Thank you!! The attention to detail was absolutely remarkable.
Thankyou very interesting
Amazing car Me and my dad have the same pagoda a 69 but in black
That's awesome. I had a '58 300SL back in the mid 70's. Needed to be restored, but I got to drive it around for a while...I sold it, like a stupid 19 year old would do.
Is Gus still in business ? Hope so.... Thanks
I did this video with him two years ago. As far as I know he's still there. I can reach out to a couple of people and find out.
@@lindseycrawford1955 Thanks ! I tried the phone number , just a busy signal..
Amazing man, many years ago, Gus rebuilt my BMW Kugelfischer injection pump for the 2002tii
That's awesome!! Gus was so gracious to spend all that time with me. It was an honor.
Beautiful truck!
I now have a 37 pickup, rough but I love it, I will start with the frame and go from there
If my memory is correct, these were 60 HP Flat heads. A little smaller than later ones. All the best on your project!!
Wonderful sights and sounds... Enjoyed. Thanks!
Thank you!! That smooth purr of the flat head 6 and the gear whine... got to love it!!
C cabs that late?
Mack used them into the 40's mostly on heavy construction industry trucks.
@@lindseycrawford1955 I never knew they lasted past the early 30s.
Epic video with an amazing old school gentleman who knows his craft of old chevys 🇺🇸🔥👏🏿🙌🏾👍🙏❤️
Ford couldn’t compete with GM in the 1950’s 👍🇺🇸👏🏿
Even Dodge took a shot at the "sport truck" segment by grafting two door Dodge station wagon quarter panels on the 8 foot bed to create the Swept Side pickup in 1957.
🇺🇸Americas first sport truck 🛻 🙌🏾👍🇺🇸🔥🙏❤️👏🏿🇺🇦
What happen to that 57 dodge truck?
I'm working on it... nothing worth video taping just yet.
How awesome is this?😊
I love that the paint job stands out from the environment but somehow still seems compatible with it.
i spoke with him a few times at the gold king mine, And seen that outstanding truck upclose.
I last saw Don in 2015. This video segment was shot in 1997.
Ols school cool...and the semi tractor too
Great !
In 1963 I wanted a cool Hot Rod 40 Ford pick up truck. Instead my dad bought a 47 Dodge pick up from a LAPD auction. He was high bidder at $6.00. It needed some work. We towed it home and my mother made him park in the back yard away out of view. It was at one time reddish and blackish in color and dents were plentifully. It rolled and stopped. We rebuilt the motor and put in a new clutch and rebuilt the brake system. For the next three years, in this truck I transported about 60 tons of sand, gravel and cement and tons of rebar on side rack racks as for my dad’s yard projects. Left turns with the steel loaded on the right were best taken a reduced speeds. One time a driveshaft u joint let go and another time the emergency brake wouldn’t release. That was it. The stock drive line is a rewarding pleasure on every drive back in time. My favorite feature was the standard air conditioning system. Your truck is perfect.
Dodge had a lot of periods when they excelled beyond Ford and Chevy. The late 20's comes to mind for all the times a Dodge Bros. truck had to pull a Ford or Chevy up over a hill, the turning radius of the "Pilot House" designs of the late 40's and early 50's. The 1964 Dodge Van was a favorite of plumbers and electricians due to their structural integrity. Dodge had the first extended cab in 1973. The list goes on...Of course there's my '57 Dodge D100 on this channel that I've been working on for over 20 years... but what's the rush?
That’s a real beauty.
I wonder where that truck is today?
When I shot this video, about 25 years ago, I believe Roy's son worked with him at their fabricating shop. I would imagine the truck stayed in the family.
Oh he had to feel good bringing this thru Jerome. !!!
They passed a noise ordinance in Jerome to keep Don from running an open exhaust. I shot this in 1997. I imagine the ordinance is still in effect.
Espectacular!!!! ❤
This is incredible! The build is amazing from every angle. Even the owners clothes. I just discovered a new passion for vintage over the road iron, and would love to sit and talk with some old timers.
Back in the 90's I did many videos with members of the American Truck Historical Society. One of the best periods of my existence!!
I'm from Brazil and I really admire your videos about trucks and cars. Congratulations on the work, God bless.👍
Thank you!! It's great having people share their passion for their vintage vehicles.
Love old trucks the way they sound
I agree. A flat head six definitely created a sound from a simpler time,,,
I love him talking about how it’s a driver and putting water in the radiator, this dude sounds like a riot to hang out with.
In addition to being an excellent mechanic, Lanny is an awesome drummer!!
Great job , I thoroughly enjoyed the video and the piece of automotive perfection that you have created. When I compare it to my AC engined Aceca although original and very capable it does need more get up and go but it is perfect to use in Britain , I feel that what you have created is something unique exciting and beautiful.
Thank you Steven. I told my friend Rolly to read your comment. He will be very pleased to know that an owner of an original Aceca appreciates all his hard work.
Wow identical to mine everything apart from mine had black interior and black soft top 🤣🤣 I had a 230SL before my father bought it for me when I won boxing competition of Great Britain the UK. Promise me pagoda if I won competition he just turned up with a blue one lol think I was 18 years old or bit younger. Got the bug loved them to deaf and wanted a 280 pagoda and went bought red one off my brothers mate. Had it 25 years sold it I had so much fun in that car night clubs women the girls loved it pussy catcher omg people used to stopped me on it all the time even the police drove mad over it in a nice way I do miss it. I will get another when I move again with a garage 100% a sky blue metallic one or Silver 280 must be 70-71 car for me
Definitely one my favorite cars of all time!
What a beaut!!! I love how smooth it handles all the curvy roads. How much of that is the driver and how much of that is the car’s design?
A little bit of both.. the steadicam was reacting kind of violently to the fast turns!
'promosm'
Looks great ! I have a 68 4 speed that I should be getting back sometime soon .
Cool!! I believe 1968 was the first year they became 280's.
Excellent video, beautiful shots of the Mercedes, and a wonderful compilation of the project. Congratulations to all who were involved in this project resulting in a stunning masterpiece on wheels!
I always found the 230/280 SL to be very photogenic cars. Thank you so much!!
Fantastic video. Looks (almost) as good in the video as it does in real life! Pops - So many people to thank for getting this project to completion but you did an excellent job. What an amazingly productive way for a father and son to stay connected. Between the thousands of phone calls, busted knuckles, lost parts and terrifying Mercedes classic center bills, the community and friends met along the way really made this happen. To those mentioned by my father, thank you again. I hope to some day pass along what we’ve learned from you to someone else... So proud of this and of you, Dad. Enjoy it!
Thank you Peter. Your Dad was such a joy to work with on this video. I really enjoyed spending that time with him. You guys found some of the best in the business to delegate portions of the project to. The ability to orchestrate all that attention to detail was quite an accomplishment!
Absolutely first class in every way. Father / Son project that is a Classic.
I always loved the 230/280 SL Mercedes. Bob and Peter truly preserved the timeless beauty of this 280 while at the same time making it a very personal example.
Woohoo first to comment! I’m honored. Beautiful vehicle!!
Thanks Em! I know all too well what it takes to achieve this kind of quality in a restoration project.
I know it's supposed to be about the cars, but I cannot stop admiring these shots from the side of the road. "Good ride!"
This is amazing. I live near this guy
Dave was the nicest guy. A joy to work with that day.
Is this the one I was a secondary cameraman on?
And hand held at that !!
Love it!!
Thank you!!
