      @audioedges Bet you would. Man I've been replacing this with some of my older projects that I wasn't confident with and boy does it sound amazing. And just In case you didn't notice, try hovering the mouse over lower right corner of an instance in the instances view. You'll get a volume and phase control. Minimize the instances size and you have a console with eq and volume controls on all the channels you've put it on.

    i'm not really sold on the pro-q4 - because its predecessor is that good. if you already own soothe, pro-q4's most significant update is superfluous. honestly, i don't know what else they could really add to pro-q3 that would help with what I already do.

      I already have Soothe 2 and I just bought the Pro Q4 this week. Soothe 2 is in a lane all by itself. It has a different smoothing sound than the Pro Q4. I can hear the difference. I just use them both. They are both valuable tools.

    Drawing the EQ line must be the shittest feature ever on a plug in. How can you possibly draw in an EQ without listening to the actual music and know what to expect. It's a gimmick, it wasn't broken before.

    • @prodbystm2
      @prodbystm2 8 днів тому

      I will not really say it’s shitty cause a lot of well experienced engineers actually have an idea of an EQ curve that will work for their an audio source like for example a live Tom now being able to draw in the Curve that you know works very well for a sound can be a huge time saver especially if you’re using a touchscreen

    • @audioedges
      @audioedges 8 днів тому

      For me it’s cool for plotting the points on a curve I know I’m going to want. After hearing a track, I have an instinct for the kind of shape I’ll want to use. I’ll then adjust the points how I want them, as you see in the video I don’t find the feature to be exact from the start. The drawing tool itself is something to get used to as well, so I feel once I’m good at it it’ll be pretty convenient for getting a rough shape going quickly.

    This is just like what musicians do with intervals. We relate intervals with different vibes or actual tunes. Like a 5th is Star Wars. Octave is somewhere over the rainbow. That kind of thing. Then you get used to them and feel them intuitively instead.

    Any serious 'mixer' should get a hearing test to determine how they perceive sound. For example, many people these days have various degrees of high frequency loss which would/should have to be factored into their mixing. Of course it may be that so many mixing engineers have these deficits that it has become the 'norm' commercially.

    My grandfather would come home after a live opera or orchestral concert excited about what he had heard and later might buy a recording of same, either recorded in studio by other musicians or, sometimes, a live recording of the concert he had attended or of another live concert and listen to them on his 78 rpm disc and be just as excited and enjoyed listening to those thin and often scratchy sounds. In other words, excellent compositions survive.
