Adventures with Dominic... From the first spark of an idea to looking back on the best bit of each adventure.
Paddleboard Touring on River Bure
Launching just outside in Aylsham, the first day of paddling takes me down to Horstead where I camp for the night. On the second day I continue paddling from Horstead to Salhouse Broad.

Looks very interesting 🧐
That’s a paddlin’
do you have the route?
It’s cycle route called Trans Pennie Trail. I started at the Southport sand finished in Whitby. If you google Trans Pennie Trail there is lots of information about it. And to be fair, its well sign posted so you could almost just follow them from the start to the end. Dominic
I'm just speechless.. i really admire your tenacity and your warm smile.i was planning a 100000 steps in 25h starting tomorrow but now seeing your concept of given it a ho and just seeing which number i will end with has a more reasonable ring to it. Thank you for inspiring me.
WOW, I really like that idea! There’s always a few different ways you can approach a challenges like these. One thing I would add is there’s nothing wrong in setting a target, and if you reach the target, great, but if you don’t, then that’s great too! It just means you’ve found your current limit something most people don’t ever experience. Then with training or different strategies you might find a new limit next time. Good luck and let me know how it goes. Thanks for watching.
How did you get home?
Luckily there was a bus from Spofforth into Harrogate, then train from Harrogate to Sheffield.
Enjoyed your videos! Thanks for sharing! I am wondering during what the month did you do this adventure? Also, what kind of low hiking shoes did you use? How did you like them?
Glad you enjoyed it! I did the hike in October. The shoes I was wearing were the Vivobarefoot Primus trail and they worked for me, but I would recommend anything with deep lugs for the muddy sections.
Nice! Thanks for your reply! I plan on using a pair of LaSportiva Bushidos. I believe that they have rather aggressive lugs. They are not waterproof, but are well ventilated and dry out fast. I am doing the hike in the second part of September and would rather not use heavy boots.@@Dominic_in_the_Outdoors
They look good to me. I actually prefer non-waterproof footwear as it allows your feet to breathe and if they do get wet they dry quicker. Enjoy the hike!
Thank you!@@Dominic_in_the_Outdoors
God bless you on your journey❤
❤❤❤❤
Nice people saying camp in the garden ❤
It really was! I was happy to wild camp but I must admit, it was a relief 😅
Love the videos, what tent is that?
Thanks 🙏 the tent is a DD Superlight pyramid tent. Good bit of kit 👍
Hi Dom where is the campsite on day 1
Campsite at the end of day 1 was at Crowden, good place along the route, but quite a few midges
🙏
Loved the video. Where did you camp at the end of day 2? Thanks.
The Breighton Ferry, its was about 45 mins of route but cheap and the pub was good 🍻
Nice video Dominic and a solid effort on the bike, well done! Who was the guy giving the talk, and was it worth the effort you put in?
Yep!
I'm so proud of you
Well done. Do you know if there is a charging point on the site for me to plug in my ebike battery?
Great job, superb.
Nice one Dom, I watched your Leeds Liverpool vid over and over years ago studying the route before I did my own ride along it, mad how that’s got 14k views! Bike and camera tech have improved since the old Peugeot! Shame your pal Duncan couldn’t join you this time. Trans Pennine Trail is on my to do list, gonna attempt it on a fat bike! Thank you for sharing and I’ll catch parts 2&3 tomorrow.
Well done! I'd like to do the Tran-Pennine trail this year. I did the Way of the Roses coast 2 coast last year from Morecambe to Bridlington, which was great fun.
55k in a day.. some achievement mate. Ive herd the same things regarding the terrain but glad you pushed through. Cracking trip, thanks for sharing.
For a moment, I was going to leave the last 10km for the day after but that just didn’t feel right.
Hahaha You do like a pizza. That's some going mate, feet aching just watching !
Pizza tastes even better after all them miles!
What a great adventure, thanks for sharing and taking me along. The central section bought back memories of my Penine way walk. ATB 🏕️
You’re very welcome 🙏 I remember seeing where the Pennine way crossed the wall. I would like to get round to walking the Pennine way on day but not sure if I could commit to a walk that long 🤔
@@Dominic_in_the_Outdoors just split it, no problem 😊🏕️
So what kit was you running? Interested in what you decided to take with you for the walk.
Obviously I could give you a big list of everything I took, but the gear I took was based on the time of year, the weather and the level of comfort I wanted. I think the best thing for me to say is that i tried to keeping the weight down without having to spend a huge amount of money on ultra-light gear. The main way I did this was by only taking essential items, you might be surprised to know I didn’t take a stove 🫢
Well done Harry! 😉
U need external mircophone to much wind can hardly hear u...
Hiya what bivy tent do you use ? Looks good 👍
OEX Salamanda 👌
what a so small tent, looks nice
Yes, it was a tad windy 😁
Headwinds and bike don’t mix 🫣
Great video 😀
Thanks Rob 😊
Great little mini series mate enjoyed that. Grab a mic if ya can the wind killed yiu at times …looking fwd to the next adventure 👍🏻🚴🍻
Yeah I’m not happy with the audio. I’ve used a mic with a wind cap on for previous videos but for some reason I didn’t use it this time. 🤦♂️
Good stuff mate 👍🏻🚴
Glad you enjoyed
Well done mate looking at doing this next year on my ebike so will try and break it up into 50 mile ish days 👍🏻🚴
Sounds good 👍 if I had more time for the trip I would have done shorter days stopped at some cafes and pubs along the way 🍰
@@Dominic_in_the_Outdoors yeah deffo gonna start planning this …. What app do you use for navigation pls ..was looking at garmins but not sure I really need one tbh as got a garmin watch for local rides etc but could do with navigation if I do go on a trip 👍🏻🚴
I’ve just done this route on my Cube e-mtb over three days
@@philtravistravels what you do about charging mate
@@TheCoopsvids rode in eco mode virtually all the way. Day 1-74 miles, day 2-56 miles, day 3-84 miles. Battery was ok each day and I charged it up overnight at my stopover hotels.
Brilliant. Realisation I’m not going to be doing that in 3 days 🤣. Cracking series of videos as usual. Appreciate the effort you have gone to. Cheers.
Thank you 🙏
Chuffed you’ve just posted this straight after the other one! I was hoping to go Hornsea to Southport as I’m based near there. Would you say west to east or east to west is easiest for a fatty with no cycling experience 😂
I would recommend west to east as this is the way the wind usually blows, just my luck the week I ride the trail is the week it decided to blow easterly 🤦♂️
Nice one. What a chill camp! What are the chairs? They look amazing!
OEX Ultra-lite chair, very comfortable 😎
Been desperate to do this for years. This year will hopefully be the one! Nice video. How have you set up your phone to show the route? Which route are you following ? I’ve heard there is some confusion with the walking route in places.
I was using the OS Maps app, always worked well. The parts that are different for bikes and walkers are usually well marked by sign post when your on the trail. But the the trans Pennine website is a resource to use.
Great review! Really in-depth, looks like I'll have to pick up a pair of Vapor Glove 2's! Have you tried any of the newer models in the vapor glove series?
Hey, great video! does this jacket have taped seams?
Stumbled across your channel from your Montane review (which sold the jacket to me lol) I’ve gotta do this hike! What a great idea!
By far the best review I’ve been able to find on this jacket! Thanks for the effort putting this together. I’m looking for a light jacket for The Cleveland way in summer and there’s too many to pick from. Thanks again
I absolutely luv derwent dam. And the surroundings are beautiful ✨
Even in the fog it has it’s charm ☁️😶🌫️
Awesome video, do you have the full route? Plan on doing a Shef to Mani walk next month with a few mates.
Excellent 👌
Beautiful 👍🏻
Recently bought this jacket for hiking in the uk, personally i love it, feels a good weight and of amazing quality. Not tried it in the rain yet but sure it will perform great.
Enjoyable video. Looking to do this route and thought it was hybrid/ MTB bikes only. I have a road bike with 32mm tyres.. what do you think ?
Great video - No tent or cover for the bike overnight? It looked completely flaked out at about 16 minutes. but seriously great achievement. you made it look quite easy and hopefully more people will have a go at a two day journey with overnight wild camp.
Hi. You said that is a medium jacket you have. Do you normally wear medium size? That would help me to decide which size to get for my self. Thanks
Great video lads, I did the same route over 2 days in May 2022. For anyone thinking about doing this ride, don't hesitate get it done. The scenery is amazing. You'll get to meet lots of friendly folks along the way. I cycled the first day from Liverpool to Blackburn and day two to Leeds.
