Portraiture with masking fluid and alcohol ink
Portraiture painting in a silhouette style layering with masking fluid and moving ink around on top.
This is a slower video showing you how I work and this particular process, with some instructional notes along the way. Its great fun to work with this technique, although is a little more challenging to do, as you are working a bit blind as you get more layers on. So much fun to do the reveal at the end!
Why not start off more simple with your design or do something more abstract to start to test the results for yourself. That's all I do. There's usually a lot more practice pieces before I show you ones like this!
I'd love to hear about your results, so come back and let me know how you get on!

Alcohol Inks and silhouette painting.
Переглядів 3393 роки тому
A time-lapse video of painting Michael Jackson in a silhouette form. I haven't put notes but it's an easy process. You sketch out your design. Then fill in the design with masking fluid, (any brand or colour) and then once the masking fluid is dry put your chosen colours over the top. Move around with whatever technique you like and with whatever colours you like. I stuck with mostly black, (an...

    I love the mdf premade boards as well. I wouldn't doubt that kelpie isn't some kind of modge podge with acrylic additive to be honest. lol, I believe that company is making bank on a product when there are other cheap coating alternatives, such as dang spray paint for all surfaces, including plastic.

    Thanks for the video. Try slowly moving the alcohol with a toothpick before placing your paper/yupo on the surface and use tweezers or meat tongs to get it out again - it’s easier to get the workout of the water. 🥰

    Love your painting. Can you do this on tile. I am a newbie in alcohol ink. My medium is pastel , love the the alcohol ink translucent look but yupo is expensive to practice on. Thank you for your tips.

    • @spencer-millanart3253
      @spencer-millanart3253 2 роки тому

      Hi Sandy, thanks for your comment. You can do it on tile but it is a little more tricky because I find the inks move even more on tile than yupo. I've bought thin yupo from amazon in large sheet pads and cut them up. Its then not quite as expensive. I realise it can seem expensive but I think the same for inks that get "washed" off tile to try again. At least if you try on yupo you can always go back to it at a later date when you've practiced a bit more. The ink will always reactivate with alcohol... until sealed. Anyway! Just my thoughts on it. 😊 Main objective is to have fun!
