This is THE single biggest ergonomic improvement to an 870 that can be made with the exception of a proper length of pull stock. The ability to be able to take the weapon off “safe” and access the trigger almost instantly is a tremendous performance boost and keeps one from having to fumble with the tiny factory hunting safety when fine motor dexterity goes out the window during a life or death situation. Great video!!

As a 20 year Marine, I've never understood press checks. My hand guns are always locked and loaded with one in the chamber. My shotguns are all loaded but nothing in the chamber. Not for that 'wicked sound of racking a round, but because they're not drop safe. All handguns the same, all shotguns the same.

Trigger on that sp101 is much better than GP100.

    • @Whateveryousay31

I have both and disagree completely. Sp101 is much heavier trigger but it’s perfect for pocket carry without a holster. Still better than any SW, and the gp100 is like a performance center trigger at least right out of the box

I've handled an 870 and a 1300 and I'm able to unload the tube with the action locked in battery by just pushing up on the lifter and hitting the shell stop just like on the Mossberg. Edit: I actually tried the 870 technique on my Winchster 1300 here and there's some kind of interuptor that prevents me from unloading more than the one round that pops out under the lifter. Wierd.

I have found that most smaller revolvers have crappy triggers. Lots of creep and too heavy of a pull. I had trigger work on both my 640 and SP101 shooters. Their 12lb trigger pull was reduced to 8-9lb and some polishing and spring replacements was done. Nice and smooth now. Never carried appendix. Never will. Hammer or no hammer I really don’t care as long as the trigger pull and action are cleaned up.

Here is what I learned with my J frames and SP101 firearms. First, you don’t have to fire full 357 magnum rounds out of these capable gems. A good 38 Special + P round will do just fine. I Magnaport my babies if I intend to fire 357 magnum on a constant basis. Both my SP101 and my all steel 640 are ported. I can rapid fire much easier, with decent precision.

Had one on my mini 14 tactical and the rifle eventually wouldn’t shoot properly ( FTE) every 3rd round . Don’t know if it was the rail affecting gas block mechanism or the muzzle break but Ruger eventually sent me a whole new rifle and I have yet to put any pictunny rail or new muzzle break . Just put a new aftermarket aluminum hand guard that just sits there like the original but instead metal . I haven’t had any malfunctions
