    Thanks for the optional method, but I have two main concerns. The first, as others have mentioned, is the very real risk of being permanently (ie for the rest of your life) maimed, and that's just not worth the risk to me (I've got a finger that still bears the consequence of pushing the envelope with a table saw!). The second is my understanding that deglazing is most effective when done with a cross-hatch pattern, meaning the belt will then be sliding across the grain of the surface sanding rather than in the same direction of the grain. This method you have would result in the belt sliding with the grain. Thanks for posting though... it gives options and gives everyone an opportunity to provide input on the option, which hopefully helps us all.

    The rotating assembly is just too scary. Lose your balance and get a digit caught in the arms of the primary and it’s a significant issue. I never thought the fingers could actually get caught in a motorcycle sprocket from cleaning until a forum member posted his hand with every digit missing the top bones. That image alone fuels me to do things properly. With rotating parts the physics gets to a point of mangling you in milliseconds.

    Try using 3 standard pairs of vise grips. Once out remove 1/3 of the sharp corner inside the housing that holds the snap ring - anti-seize it good, then it will come out by hand pulling on it. Be careful not to remove to munch of that sharp corner - just .02" less than a 32nd of an inch.

I went to ace hardware and got (2) 5/8 fine thread nuts and (2) big washers they are just a bit small then the cx axle cup hole.. then i used vice grips just like he did and it works as well. What kind of oil are you using?

    • @brandonlarson5275
      @brandonlarson5275 2 роки тому

      Whatever is available and on sale in 5-30 or 0-30 synthetic. We also do oil changes every 5k because we spend a lot of time in the boost cruising 90-100 for hours on the way to and from Vegas or LA. From all my turbo experience, the turbo cars breaks down the oil more rapidly. We usually own our cars to about 180k miles so its just cheap insurance. Especially since Hyundai motors are notorious for burning oil as the age.

  • @jaybd9329
    @jaybd9329 2 роки тому

    Good video, Brandon. I see it calls for 0W-30. Did you use Synthetic? What is the change cycle for normal driving? I’ve read where the dlr may or may not use the exact prescribed weight so I think I might buy Mob-1 Syn and give it to them to change it for the first 3 yrs then I may just do it myself. We just ordered our 2023 GV70 3.5T and can’t wait to get it.

    • @brandonlarson5275
      @brandonlarson5275 2 роки тому

      Yeah we only use synthetic in turbo gas cars. We used 5w30 the first time because the 0w30 was not available at the time. Also the 2nd oil change was only like 15 minutes.

    • @gL0be1000
      @gL0be1000 2 роки тому

      Yes, Unfortunately the dealer uses 5w-30 and really, anywhere you go you will get 5w-30. I started changing my own oil, using 0w-30 and on the first oil change I used STP oil cleaner additive and let the car run for 15 min before I drained. This will remove most of the build up on the pistons and clean it good. Yes the car is new, but I do it anyways, keep it for long and whatnot. Since the car is twin turbo it will have gunk build up because "notoriety" of turbos. If you have the same problem like I had, where the car vibrates a little on cold starts, clean the oil before the change. And PLEASE, do not drive the car when the cleaner is working.. it will fuck everything up inside the engine.

    • @jaybd9329
      @jaybd9329 2 роки тому

      @@gL0be1000 Thanks IIia. I’ve heard the manual says to use a fuel additive, like Techron, every 8k miles or so. Would that have same effect as STP? Also, I plan on bringing dealer Mob-1 0W-30 for all my changes. I don’t mind overpaying for the 3 complimentary oil changes to ensure the right oil is being used.

    • @gL0be1000
      @gL0be1000 2 роки тому

      @@jaybd9329 No, Techron is a fuel system cleaner. This will clean to heads of your pistons and your fuel system.
