Ep. 26 - Chevrolet K5 Blazer, Removing the interior and cleaning it up.
Переглядів 3408 місяців тому
The Krusty K5 gets stripped down and cleaned up. It was just a ton of work and there are some time laps videos. My daughter and I are trying to decide what to do with the body of this rig. Right now it is so rusty that maybe a body swap is something that makes sense. Thanks for watching and please subscribe. #chevy #chevrolet #squarebody #k5 #gm #blazer #trending

Thanks for the video man! Interestingly enough… Autozone states that part number doesn’t fit the truck. Glad you tested it and it does!
I'm glad I could help.
I have a1979 Chevy Bonanza super Ten . Blue interior, blue with white Exterior. No cancer . One owner . Is rarer mines ?
That's sweet!
Got my had what they a bastard joint on the rear one
What a beauty! That color combination is absolute stelar. The brake and bearing coverage was helpful thank you. I had a Butternut Yellow 67 RS Camaro many years ago.
Thank you. 😊
Great video. Whereabouts in Utah are you? I’m in west haven. Just got a78 square body and will need to do the same. Thanks!
I'm in Utah county.
Dude the view is awesome. Old Square is sounding good!
Thanks man.
I'm out here doing my brakes I googled this and this guy came up on UA-cam I love this guy to the point and he knows what he's doing thank you bro bro
Thank you!
Next time, take the transmission off. Before you pull out and put back in the motor it makes it easier in long run. And most likely your fan is gonna hit the radiator.
Your probably right, and yeah the fan is gonna hit. I haven't been able to get back to this project. Still looking for solutions for several things.
@@boyescustoms I'm not sure if you have the short shaft water pump on. If not, that is one solution. Or you can put the small water pump conversion kit on that's what I did. Plus it puts the fan in the Original position on the radiator.
@@Mr50pop the real problem is that my fan hits the harmonic balancer. The fan that I found for it. It has bigger blades. The new one has a different bolt pattern.
Where did you buy these rotors?
I believe I bought them from Napa.
1980 was the first year for square headlights & also the last year for round headlights. The square headlights came standard on models with the Silverado & Sierra Classic trim levels, & optional on models with the other trim levels. Those generation Chev & GMC fullsize truck models were built from 1973 - 1991 except the half ton & three quarter ton plain cab pickups were finished in 1987, & the one ton plain cab pickups were finished in 1989.
Just ordered skf f44 joints. Appreciate the video process.
Thank you! Glad it helped.
The front and back u joints are different
I think they were the same in mine.
What’s your rule of thumb for tighten that axle nut WHILE rotating the rotor?
Just to turn rotor while you snug it down to set the bearings. I have recently been told you're supposed to do that to 50ft-lbs. Then back it off and go to just more than hand tight. To the next slot for the cotter pin. Do you do it differently?
@@boyescustoms I followed the manual but I wasn’t happy with the drag I was getting. I need to replace the calipers so I figured while I’m in there I’d get that axle nut right. I haven’t driven the truck since spindles, bearing and seal went in. I’ve seen a number of videos where guys spin the rotor like you and test the drag. Figured that was the proper way and I’d copy it. The book is real vague and just lists torque spec.
@Fahrenheit_Motorsports yeah everybody is a little different. I just lowered this same truck with a Maxtrac kit, and the instructions said the 50ft-lbs. So... I think you'd be ok with that.
@@boyescustoms right on. Thanks man 👍🏽
@@Fahrenheit_Motorsports your very welcome.
Did you do the 1 inch drop or 2?
I dropped it to two inches. One inch wasn't enough.
I'm debating on doing my Suburban. I like how it's a reverse level type of drop, most minimal.
Yeah, it's pretty minimal. It worked out well for me for a while.
Man that spot welder is handy, too bad it’s not smaller.
It is handy. I absolutely wish it was smaller!
That’s awesome I have the exact same truck 1980 long box but mines dark brown and cream colour and I have a 350 that’s done up a little bit and a nice exhaust system. I like your colour it looks good.
Thank you! That's awesome. I'd like to see that. My 350 is stock with a 2-barrel. I'll be putting a 4-barrel carb on it soon.
R.I.P
It looks good. So you'll be finished before 2025, right? 😂
A 235 6 is worse than a 216 ,all they do iscrack heads,put a newer 6 in it,like a 292 !!!!!
Full video comin to UA-cam?
Yes. It may be bit. It was already cut out before I started filming on my channel. It's been a long time coming.
Part 1 is up.
Don't forget to reset your headlights or you'll be blinding folks.
💪 💪 💪
I love squarebody trucks
The blocks under the jack stands is legit when they are used in that manner it's called cribbing. The music was great and volume perfect. You should do more videos this was great.
Thank you! That's high praise. My microphone quit on me, and I'm finally buying a camera that's worth something. I'm working on doing more videos.
How did it handle after? Vibrations eliminated?
Yeah it's been great.
1980 Chevy is 43 years old and working on its next 40 years. long live chevy trucks, long live the blue collar men that drive them! Chevy trucks like a rock!
Well said
Beautiful kitty.
Beautiful vehicle and the beautiful mountains in the background.
Thank you.
My defrost won’t cycle through the dash vents. It just comes out everywhere else
Maybe check your control cables? Might not be hooked up. Or something jammed? 🤔
The vaccum lines seem to be fine and the actuator seems fine as well
@@martinolivas319 I'm talking about the cables coming from the controls. There aren't any actuators on mine.
On my 76 it’s got vacuum switches on the settings or top half and a cable on the lower hot cold adjuster
@@martinolivas319 I guess I'm not that familiar with that style.
Wanna sell it? Lol I've been looking for one that's not a rust box or a complete paper weight for years lol nice ride bro
Thanks. I'm not looking to sell right now.
Blessed beyond measure!!!
Agree 👍
I ran into same issues what is the # for u joints
Good work, brother. Nice progress.
Thanks, my friend.
Loosen the nut instead of the head on the bolt,it's alot easier.
Thanks for the tip.
closest video i can find to my 76 Buick Electra. Built like a truck ride like a Cadillac. Same set up in the front. Great vid thanks for making it.
Thank you very much.
Looks great
Thank you!
Drive line stock?
Yeah, same transmission, torque tube, and rear end.
Badass
Thank you
It was good to see you down at the cruise in in Salem. Watched a couple of your videos.
It's was great to meet you. Thanks for checking out my videos.
You got your work cut out for you. Make sure that tetanus booster is up to date :) I had a 1985 K5, they are great rides. Looking forward to following your progress on it!
Big job ! Have to do. I drive every day my ´77 K5 in France and I love every secund behind of the stearing wheel. All oryginal, but not museum. In my life, I restore lots of (everything). I ´am 58 and still do. (UA-cam/Tranomis83). Good luck! Every K5 should be saved!
Restore it Brother a Survivor is so hard to fined i look forward to seeing what your going do to it 👍
It will live on. In one way or another.

Thanks, my friend. I agree.
❤
I had a 1977 blazer in high school too. Really fun to ride around in.
Mine was a 79, and yeah, super fun.
Sweet
Thanks for the update. My sons just brought home a 1978 K25 to keep my 1987 K15 company.
That's awesome. I just put up a walk around video from when I brought it home.
Nice I just bought an '82
That's cool.
Love it!
Great old times feeling.
