MR2 Throttle Cable Modification
Переглядів 2 тис.4 роки тому
Unfortunately, I purchased an MR2 Heaven ‘holy grail’ throttle cable for my gen4 3sgte swap in my MR2. The cable was just too long and had too much slop. I cut the cable and added a replacement barrel cable end. Tundra AIP Bypass Install
Переглядів 46 тис.6 років тому
I installed the Rutech Solutions wiring harness and block off plates on my 2007 Toyota Tundra with the 5.7l V8. I had a check engine light throwing a P2442 code and I am 1 year and 5,000 miles out of Toyota’s extended warranty. Rather than paying upwards of $3000, I opted to bypass the problem. This video covers the block off plate portion as the wiring harness is pretty straight forward.
Seized/Stripped Spark Plug Removal - Ford F150
Переглядів 147 тис.7 років тому
While working on the 2001 F-150 with the 5.4L 2V Triton V8, I found a spark plug that the previous owner/mechanic stripped and left. This is how I attempted to remove it. I forgot to mention in the video, but I did soak the spark plug in PB Blaster for a couple hours prior to the epoxy being applied.

Apologies for the poor video quality as I recently discovered that I had taken this video years ago! Quick video of a take off and flyby of my 1993 Toyota MR2 equipped with KO Racing's NA TKO exhaust. This car is currently in the process of being swapped to a 4th generation 3sgte.. if you're interested in upcoming footage of this swap, subscribe! Thanks for watching!

Changing spark plugs, that's what I like, thats what I like!
Thank you sir, honestly a life saver
@@SpoiledMilk11 I genuinely hope that if you find yourself needing to do something like this, that it works for you.
I tried this two days ago and now have a socket that spins freely and will no come out of the spark plug cylinder. Thinking it’s lost its grip on the porcelain and free spinning around it.
great video dude. I know it’s an old video but awesome info. Thanks
I can't find a video about how to do the passenger side it looks more difficult difficult to take the long bolt out
works good on my end guys took me about 4 hours to do LOL but totally worth it. Save your money. Update got my emissions passed with flying colors !!!
I got one that will unscrew but reaches a point where it stops turning, it has a steal head. Spark plugs haven't been changed in 5 years. It's a 1988 ford F150 with 5.0, So sprayed it with penetrating oil then screw it back in, then out again but still hitting a point where it stops turning. So I screw it back in, may have to get help with that one plug. Any suggestions?
That’s wild 😂🫡🔥💪🏼
Dude my original plugs barely came out on a 2010 Ford Fusion, I was sweating it. I know it’s frowned upon but I dabbled a little of anti seize on my next set, not trying to have a panic attack just for spark plugs 😂
Yea, this was a pretty terrible situation to be in. I hope I never have to deal with it again!
I tried this but the socket still just spins and now it's stuck in the hole . Anyone have an idea on how to get the socket to come out?
How did the new upper control arms hold up? I'm in definite need of changing mine and still debating OEM vs aftermarket.
I’ve got no complaints about them at all. For me, they’ve been a very good choice.
@@BargainPaper thanks, good to know. I may go aftermarket then. Appreciate the info
Nice, especially with all that tight space
Doing what I can with what I got. Old house, small garage, wife and kids.. 😆
Preload the UCA before torquing to spec.
Why do you need the block off plates?
How’s that UCA holding up?
No complaints on my end!
How much did you put in the socket?
It was all a guess. I just looked at the socket and one of the spark plugs and guessed how much room was left. Wanted enough to fill all the void spaces in that socket and around the plug.
How are your ucas holding up? Have you done much offeoading with them ? Ty for the video
I struggled with the block off plates (used the HT kit but hopefully this can help someone). I ended up using a full length broom stick on the one nut and a ratchet strap to push on the stick. One end of the ratchet strap to the frame and the other around the sway bar. This made sliding the plates in nice and easy.
Did my 08 . But tge check light still on after clearing it. Dont kno what's wrong.
Were you getting the same codes that I was?
Aw man , out of all videos I've watched, this is what I have been asking for ...a compound to stick inside socket to mold to spark plug-MY MAN - BINGO!! Give me a day I will let you know.... I have 5.4 expedition limited el the 2 cylinder is stripped _
Good luck!
i noticed in the online service manual there is one more bolt beside the lower post that could be loosed to make it easier to open the gap....im not sure why nobody tried that but im not a mechanic so may be wrong... what do you think? Its visible if you look close but its rusty on the vid.
Thanks for the soldering tip, I will have to try that. I Just installed a new cable with the screw-on end clamp and it immediately popped off when I pushed the gas pedal.... not good.
Nope! Last thing you want is thinking you’re good, leave the house just to be stranded somewhere! Hope it works out for you!
@@BargainPaper Hope so! Now I'm just trying to decide my order of operations. I have the choice of clamping down the pedal first resulting in minimal slack to work with while soldering the throttle end, or soldering the throttle end off the car first and having to work in the very tight driver's footwell to tighten the pedal clamp second... I'll figure something out.
Always a pain in the a$$.Working on anything.Never smooth.Customers all think it’s just easy.
I have. Tacoma but have same shocks to replace and was watching to see the parts for the stem top hat
That looks like a bad idea in all sorts of ways 😂 glad it worked tho
Per Ford, the heads had to come off. I think this was a great idea! 😆
Do I have to replace the upper control arm when installing the 6112?
You don’t have to unless you’re trying to get max lift out of them. In that case from what I understand, it’s recommended to in order to get your alignment back with normal ranges.
@@BargainPaper which ones did you go with? Upper control arm?
@@jamesfuentes5688 I went with a basic Freedom Off Road UCA. I don’t really do any serious off-roading and just wanted something that would accommodate the lift I was hoping for. I recorded that install too if you want to check my other videos.
Just installed the same kit... codes gone. BUT NOW I DONT HAVE REVERSE!!!
Genius; thanks for the guidance!
Can you tell me what your truck was doing? We are thinking this is the issue with our truck
You would have to look into the 'air induction pump' failure for the Tundra to see what specific check engine lights (and other dash) lights turn on/flash to know specifically what I saw. Also, I'm pretty sure the truck goes in to a limp mode as well. Sorry that I cannot remember the specifics, its been a couple of years.
I ordered my 6112s pre-built and have no regrets. It was about $100 more, but I think my body and sanity are more intact because of it. No shame!
If I had to do it again, I would have them preassembled too! No shame whatsoever! Work smarter, not harder…like me..!
I tried this, and it caught the spark plug. It’s not bonded to the wall bc it spins, but it isn’t removing the spark plug and now the socket is stuck and I can’t remove it. Any tips?
I’ll be honest, that’s a bit puzzling. It spins but won’t come up… Man. I would probably be doing everything I could to apply some sort of vertical force on the socket while spinning it. Honestly, if it were me, and I was committed to the point where my socket is bonded… why not bond an extension onto the socket? Godspeed!
I installed this kit 6 years ago as a preventative measure before I had any trouble...yesterday I get code 2437 and today 2442. Looks like I have to replace the switching valve. Not looking forward to that.
You mean this kit will not cover all code for egr system? Please answer me .am about to order for my 07 tundra 5.7 🙃
@camarossable I still got an error code and truck went into limp mode because of a stuck switching valve. Bypass did not work for me.
@@nova7096 thanks 😊
Great video!! I did this the other day with JB weld quick steel brand . Worked in like 2 hours
I had a similar experience installing an add a-leaf in the rear. The first side was kicking my butt, I couldn't get the leaf pack alignment pin to line up. After figuring out how to do it, I completed the other side in about an hour.
Hahaha it’s just the way it is! I added rear shackles on my Tundra to complete the lift. I was going to record it but I had to literally burn out my rear bushings and it took forever!
MR2 Heaven parts are trash.
Big help thanks for video
No problem at all!
Talk to much
I went to look for examples of how you structure your content but quickly realized that you’ve made zero videos and have zero subscribers.
Watched your video like they say you learn something new every day thanks for the video helped me out big time👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Was your throttle cable in need of a modification like mine?
@@BargainPaper yes and thank you..
Man thanks for the video and idea, damn good 1 too!..I'm about to try this in a minute, already got some jb weld steel putty and a 5/8 socket that's split at the top..cross my fingers. Thanks
I hope it works for you like it did for me. Desperate times call for desperate measures!
I'm running 35's on Bilstein 5100's adjustables (no spacer lift) and have no rubbing whatsoever. Will I starting rubbing on the frame after doing this? Thanks.
Hard to say. I would guess that if you have no rubbing now, you probably won't with upper control arms. BUT these upper control arms are to bring alignment back within spec after gong 2-4" of lift. How much lift do the 5100s provide and have you had any issues getting the truck aligned?
Ford 5.4 heads all is bullshit junk fuck ford's and all engineering sorry asss motors no way get number five plug out broke off even firewall in way to hit a tap or punch out no room all break some were pure junk motor ran like a top till water got in tank destroyed fuel pump filter and plugs what a mess working on these sorry ass ford's buy chev folks pure junk triton is
Hello, I know this is an older video but I just picked up a leer second hand and I have the track system but the hardware that came with the shell will not work with it. The link in the description no longer works, is there an alternative place to get these clamps? Thanks and nice truck. I have a crewmax in the same color and the same wheels lol
I’ll look online today and see if I can find a new link to what I’m using!
Link updated 👍🏼
It must be a 5.4 thing, that is what mine is stuck in, same side same plug lol
So how did those cheap Chinese ucas turn out? Any noise, how's about the ball joint?
Absolutely no noise. Hard to say how the upper ball joints are doing because I believe my lower ball joints and tie rod ends are now in need of replacement.
@@BargainPaper thanks for taking the time to reply.
@@myharley5616 Thank you for taking the time to watch my video.
I'll be doing this sometime this week. I also had the thought of how much putty to use. I'm planning to grab some of the kids play dou and one of the old plugs to figure out. Will probably be a mess, but easy way to get an idea and not overload the socket.
For sure. You definitely want enough to fully meld the socket with the spark plug so that it grabs the whole plug. But you don’t want some to come out and have it make your socket become one with the cylinder head.
Ordered the quiksteel after realizing this will be the only option available to me. Just wondering if,after application of the quiksteel, did you warm the engine a bit or just break it free with the engine cold?
THANK YOU! I've watched a couple of these, in preparation for a belt I'm about to do. You are the first person to specify the 5mm Allen. Now I will be more prepared. Thank you ❣️
Good luck on your repair! I hope it goes smoothly for you!
@@BargainPaper it will. My jobs go well because I do prepare. I run a quick lube center. Don't have time for mishap. A good Diesel truck will make us $600 a hour. Don't have time for nonsense
Okey, but you did not show complete process. So I do not trust video. And you should not let the F work define you. Had to mute
What part of 'seized/stripped spark plug removal' did I not show? If you do not believe me, that's on you. Good luck with whatever it is you're trying to do.
Thank you! Now I have the balls to do it myself! Not to mention I’ve done the shocks with 5100 adjustables already, might as well finish the job! Thank brother!
lets see you actually put it in
If you are unable to complete the install with the direction I provided in this video, I would recommend taking your vehicle to a mechanic.
