If Penix is great obviously this will end up looking brilliant but right now it looks silly because they feel only a piece or two away from being a legit contender in the NFC. Maybe a d lineman (Byron Murphy) or o lineman (Fashanu, Fuaga) possibly an edge rusher (Turner, Latu, Verse) or a d back (Arnold, Mitchell) but instead you went backup QB at 8… seems silly doesn’t it?

@@swivelchairsports umm no. i dont think we are one piece away from winning a sb with kirk. and if im correct then we would have looked stupid passing on penix if he ends up being as good as he is capable. falcons have learned they had enough of mediocre qb play. plus what if kirk gets hurt? penix is insurance for now and qb 1 for the future

I love Penix, I love Cousins, I like the Falcons, I hope it works out, it’s just strange. Good luck though I honestly hope you win the division and Cousins is the best mentor possible for Penix who turns into a HOF caliber QB. I love all parties involved here just wish they would’ve went one or the other because they should both be starting QBs in the NFL next year in my opinion.

In all honesty I just irrationally love the Packers receiving trio for some reason. I think the Lions and Packers will be neck and neck all year and both teams ended last year in similar fashion losing in the playoffs to the 9ers by 3 so I probably could have had it more as like a 6a, 6b situation but I still think Detroit is going to be a Top 4 NFC team record-wise if not top 3 just edging out Green Bay for the division

I feel once the Rams got healthy last season they were the better team. Also feel they made more significant moves this offseason despite losing Donald, they brought in Tre White, Kamren Curl, Jonah Jackson and drafting Verse and Fiske to help replace Donald’s production. Personally, I just feel the Rams look better on paper but obviously we’ll have to wait and see how the season plays out.

Caleb doesn’t have near the off field troubles Manziel had as far as we know at least. I don’t know if he’ll come close to Mahomes but the potential can be seen. Like you said though it’ll come down to “how much does he want it.”

Yeah he really seems like one of the clearest busts. Maybe even a Ryan Leaf or JaMarcus Russell level bust. He seems to get into unnecessary distractions which you can get away with in college but not usually in the NFL. Playing fortune teller will say Chicago gives up after 3 years and a cellar team picks him up as a roll of the dice.

The eagles secondary was their biggest weakness last season, only team that allowed more passing TDs was the Commanders, bottom 5 in passing yards allowed. It wouldn’t be adding a depth corner if they take the first CB off the board expecting him to be the #1 guy on an abysmal Philadelphia secondary that needs all the help it can get.

Whoever drafts him has their LT locked up for the next decade and a half or so. Looking forward to seeing where a lot of these tackles go in the draft this year with so many contenders in need of o-line help

@@swivelchairsports I think it is as the heavy hitters still think ultimately jj goes after the top 3 Adam schef said from what he has heard jj goes after the top 3. Same with guys on ESPN like field Yates, Justin Reid. They all have heard teams believe he really goes anywhere in the top 10 after the first three qbs come off. Plus some of the pats reporters have said if they were to guess off what they have heard they believe maye would be the pick.

Completely agree, but I think you missed the point. 1. The whole point of the comparison between the two was that McCarthy didn't play enough in college to earn a top 5 pick. Richardson got drafted 4th overall playing half as many games as McCarthy did and had no where near the success. 2. Wasn't really comparing their play styles because Richardson is a true dual threat whereas McCarthy uses his legs more to avoid/escape pressure. They were asked to do different things in college (Richardson needed to win games; McCarthy needed to manage games) partially due to the skill of the team around them. 3. Josh Allen was the actual playstyle comp as both are pass first, use their legs to extend plays type of guys. Granted, Allen has the size and mentality to take over the game with his legs if he has to. McCarthy can run (in a less physical way than Josh) and we will have to wait and see how his legs are used both in game scheme and when plays break down.

Watson hasn’t accomplished anything to be on the same tier as these guys. 0 AFC Championship Appearances, 12 total games played since 2020, 1 Playoff win. Everybody but Herbert, Kyler and Dak on this list has done more in their careers than Watson

@@swivelchairsports I don't think you have any standard for comparison yet to decide one way or another. 2020 Deshaun Watson was better than any guy on that list not named Mahomes. 2022 Deshaun Watson played only 6 games after a nearly two-year layoff and the rust was clearly visible. 2023 Deshaun Watson was 4-1 in 5 games and played hurt in 3 of those.

That’s fair but I’m factoring in health and off field factors (that have negatively effected his career and a big contributor to the layoff) into contract value as an explanation for why he is scrutinized more for his large cap hit in comparison to the others. And while his record in the games he played this year was good his defense was a large part they won as he played average if not below average during that stint: 220 YPG, 7-4 TD-INT ratio.

Week 3 - 83%, 2 TDs, 123 passer rating, hurt late Week 4 - out Week 5 - bye Week 6 - should've sat, played only a few series Week 7 - out Week 8 - 63%, 2 TDs, 107 passer rating Week 9 - Poor first half, epic 14 of 14 second half coming back from down 15 against the Ravens. Final tally: three good games, one bad game, one monsoon, and a season-ending injury. It's easy to rag on Watson because of the alleged off-field things, but there isn't really enough data to determine if he's washed on the field. I'd prefer to wait to see what he does in a full season before making any pronouncements.

Talented?? Mcduffie was a 4star high school recruit and Sneed was a 3 star. Mcduffie was a first round pick and Sneed was a 4th round pick. Mcduffie made all pro his second year in the league and Sneed got SNUBBED this year and should have been selected but it was his 4th year in the league.

I understand the argument for prioritizing Sneed over Jones and don’t think there’s a right answer one way or the other I just personally value interior pressure more but I see your point

The value of lockdown corners go way down when there is no pass rush. Corners can only guard someone for so long. Pass rushers make more money than cornerbacks for a reason. We drafted Charvarious Ward and let him go and replaced him with Sneed. We have success drafting defensive backs in general bc we have a STUD DB coach. We can’t replace Sneed but we have depth to fill in some of what he would leave behind. Sneed is an all pro but CJ95 is a HOFer. Go back and watch all the Chiefs playoff victories and tell me how many times he either gets Double teamed, gets pressure or makes a play. championship defenses start and end in the trenches. ….hell I played cornerback in college I promise I’m a huge Sneed fan.

A quarterback is valuable bc they affect every play on offense. A D lineman is either stopping the run or going to get the QB to stop the pass every play. Lastly….DTs age different from other positions. They don’t require speed. CJ95 doesn’t have some insane explosive first step. He has VIOLENT hands and is strong af. He is one of the only linemen who can win standing straight up and down while not using leverage it’s very uncommon. Aaron Donald had the highest pass rush win rate at age 32 season of any other eligible lineman this season. Fletcher Cox, Cameron Hayward, Calais Campbell, Al Woods, Cameron Jordan, hell Mike Pennel played his ass off in the SB those guys are all 32 + and still producing. We need Jones bro.

Under any normal year I wouldn’t want to do that but all hands on deck to go after this 3-peat especially since this very well might be Kelce’s last year and we don’t know how long Reid will stick around. I have Jones, Sneed, and Tranquill is the top 3 to keep. I’d really hate to lose Allegretti but someone will likely pay him. What do you think?

I (Birk) totally agree with you in that order of priority in my opinion. And the Chiefs have the benefit of Mahomes who can cover up holes down the line that opening that cap space this off-season may create. I don’t see any other team (at least right now) that would be able to compete with the Chiefs assuming they bring the key defensive pieces back and improve offensively through the draft as opposed to swinging big on a Tee Higgins or Mike Evans type. Mahomes proved he can be Brady-esque and carry an offense when needed.

The running narrative around Purdy in the media is that he is carried by his great teammates so that’s why we ask the question in the title. We appreciate your comments and are working to improve.
