I Built These Nautical Sculptures in a Weekend.... Did Anyone Buy Them? Beginner Woodworking Project
Do beginners REALLY stand a chance of making money with woodworking?
That's what some woodworkers claim, especially with projects like nautical sculptures and beach themed decor. In this episode of our series testing woodworking projects for profit, we put that claim to the TEST!
I'm building some EASY nautical sculptures (perfect for beginners) and documenting the entire process - from choosing the wood to the finishing touches.
But will they SELL? After a week of listing them online, I'll reveal the results and show you exactly how much profit (or loss!) I made.
This video is perfect for beginner woodworkers who are curious about making money with their hobby (make money woodworking, woodworking business). I'll share all the steps involved, along with some tips and tricks to help you get started.
Plus, you'll get to see if these nautical sculptures are truly a "next big seller" or just nautical nonsense!
Let me know in the comments below if you've ever tried selling your woodworking projects, and what your experience was like! Don't forget to subscribe for more project tests and woodworking content!

Great video! When you're putting on the poly, use a disposable glove on your left hand to hold the coaster and avoid fingerprints/ messy fingers. Also, instead of using toilet paper rolls, screw 3 screws through a 1/4" board in a small triangle. Flip the board and lay the coasters on the point of the screw. Minimal contact and sturdier. Thanks for the video!

Awesome job. One takeaway I got from this though was it would be much faster if you built a little jig with the template on it to slide the block in so you wouldn’t have to hold the jig perfectly straight. Might make it go a little faster.

I just got one...connecting the actual weed wacker end pole to the base pole is not smooth...you almost have to jam it in to get the attachment to connect...I actually had to use wd-40 to make it smoother so that the 2 pieces could connect and fit.

Great concept for a channel. Excellent information for selling. IMHO, the dark stains aren't near as attractive as the lighter ones. Instead of stained softwoods, might try hardwoods with nice patterns. Get more money by making them beautiful. Maybe???

These are not sculptures, they are either floats or boat bumpers and they both should float. They are hung off the sides of working boats to protect them from damage from rubbing two boats or a boat against a dock. The colors identify who's boat and to be easily seen. Yes, they are mostly for nautical decor now but they are not "sculptures" lol.
