Looking to move to Minnesota, and wanting to know what's the best city to raise a family, I have an 8 year old daughter and would like her to go to the best public school possible and to move into a really nice neighborhood. If someone could let me know, please comment and give me some ideas. Thanks!!

Traffic and parking opportunities alone, make St.Paul the winner..

Grew up in the Mpls side of town. Now live in St. Paul side of town. I LOVE St. Paul so so much more than Mpls. The restaurants, the neighborhoods, you just can't beat the older homes in St. Paul.

Hm, Lived there for 22 years. Definitely not your average US state. There are lovely people living there and absolute Horrors. Sometimes lovely Horrors, but always polite and passive-aggressive as opposed to plain-regressive in other states. Summers are stiffling, winters and frigid and road-construction defies description. All in all, glad I don't live there (in fact that whole continent) anymore.

Don’t move here, we are rude and do not accept new people easily. The cost of living here is ridiculous and we have one of the highest tax rates in the country. If you have allergies do not move here because this is literally pollen hell. Minneapolis has the same or worse murder rate than Chicago which has lovingly dubbed us Murderapolis. St. Paul is where we keep all of our methheads and is a very easy area to get robbed in. Last but not least the police were defunded here so if something bad happens, well they will get there when they get there. Don’t go into the small towns or up into the iron range if you don’t like theft or meth and be prepared to be judged by everyone you meet. This last bit of advice I will give is if you do move here you will hear about Minnesota nice. We are not nice and don’t care, we just want to be left alone. Don’t talk to us as we get out of our cars and walk to our doors, don’t try to make conversation while we mow or do yard work. If you do this you will be avoided like the plague.

St Paul has the best breakfast joints

Never been in StP, but ... Driving through Minneapolis was one of the worst experiences of my life. Half the intersections were closed and half the open roads were jackhammered. And this was in 2019. In 2023, we went into northern Minneapolis, avoiding the rest of the city. Northern Minneapolis is the working class side, ethnic minorities, elderly, etc, and historically the "violent" side of the city. Iasked around and the protests in 2020 ... actually ... were ... peaceful. By contrast, Southern Minneapolis is the yuppie, soy, mallrat, bard side of the city. That's where the arsons and looting took place.

This just made me homesick. Recently just moved to KA. Weeeelp I can always visit 🤔🙋🏽‍♀️🤭 it's beach 🏖️ vs lake🛶 at this point in my life. Snow⛄️ vs no Snow. I choose beach and no snow ❄️ 🚫 ❤❤

Minneapolis is for the "transplants", St paul is for the "residents".

St. Paul has the Mississippi River everywhere! Practically 10 blocks in any direction. If you would ask a mpls person where's the river, they would answer "it starts in Itasca".

High taxes, Commie values, and the state bird is the mosquito. Glad to have gotten away.
