The Medical Massage Lady
United Kingdom
Приєднався 6 січ 2020
I am a massage therapist since 1997, sports therapist 2019, massage tutor 2020, with a medical background, as a surgical nurse and a midwife, plus 9 years +experience of disability in children, specialising in treating cerebral palsy. I combine my knowledge from each of these areas to offer massage therapy with more of a medical approach. I have treated adults and children, including celebrity clients. I get a lot of comments on how informative my posts are and lets face it, everyone should have their health issues explained in a way that they can understand, right? So I am now sharing my knowledge with you through my videos on this channel. There will be videos about massage therapy in general, medical issues, pregnancy and postnatal health, disability and sports injuries and their prevention. The videos are aimed at anyone experiencing these problems but also may be of use to anyone going into massage therapy, because the training really doesn't cover much medical information.

The Physiology Behind Trauma
Переглядів 813 роки тому
It is often thought that when you've experienced trauma or suffer with PTSD, that it is a psychological issue and this is a huge misconception impacting on the success of a treatment plan, because talking therapies or EMDR alone will often be ineffective. This is because these treatments do not address the physiology behind trauma, which is why massage is so effective, particularly when combine...

Thank you, you’re amazing :)
Super helpful video!
Thank you for this. I don’t see a lot of information regarding massage on this topic.
It is difficult to talk too much about massage for hypermobility without seeing each individual client because it is such a wide spectrum.Certainly I have treated clients with various levels of hypermobility and it is not true that someone with hypermobility can not have a massage. Some will be able to have deep tissue while others may only be able to have a swedish or possibly only compression work. The important thing is to find a registered and qualified massage therapist who has experience with hypermobility. Some of my posts talks about massage more whereas others are more informative posts to help people understand their/their clients condition more.
Wish you were close! In the States, here. Going to look for a massage therapist!
Is active trigger points cause shortness of breath? Wondering If I did an aerobic exercise such as jogging, momentarily get rid of, eventually if I remains a sedentary lifestyle, shortness of breath tend to recur.
They can cause shortness of breath is present in the accessory respiratory muscles in the neck and back, and doing exercise that would target these muscles may help get rid of them, but stretching with exercise is also important. Alternatively you could go for a sports or even a firm deep tissue massage or instrument assisted massage. Also diaphragmatic tension may also cause shortnessof breath.
On points explanation. Why less views?
Excellent information, but please work on not saying "um".
thank you Valerie. I am aware that I need to work on this. I have PTSD which really affects my short term memory and my ability to retain information. It means that quite often I could be mid sentence and draw a complete blank. I will try to work on it. Thanks for watching and for the feedback.
@@themedicalmassagelady8334Don’t worry about it, if it’s bothersome you can edit out those parts, a lot of people do that on here.
Great video. Very informative
Can't heaer you at all.
Volume is fine my end
Did you realize that most people have this geneticly since birth like myself? A "complety closed" chest is geneticly determined. Trauma and torm muscels are pretty hard to "not notice"
Yes most cases of this are genetic and as I have stated it is not something you can get rid of.If the muscle is torn thats a separate issue. Even with doing the exercises as suggested the pec gap will still be there, it just may be less noriceable
how to cover chestt gape plzz tell me
you won't get rid of it, but by following the exercises recommended you will be able to work on certain areas of the muscles to reduce the appearance of the gap
@@themedicalmassagelady8334 which excercise
@@nhkdigital3428 The mid and lower pecs attach at the sternum, where the inner pec lies, and are developed by exercises at a neutral/decline :- Mid pec -flat dumbbell fly -flat dumbbell press -flat bench press -mid height cables -pushups Lower pecs:- -decline press -decline flys -high cables While these exercises don’t specifically target the inner pec, they will help develop it alongside the middle and outer pec. By crossing the midline during strengthening exercises the centre line of the chest will be more well defined and muscle separation will appear less noticeable. If this is done following exercises that target the whole chest the inner pec muscles will have to work harder to combat muscle fatigue.
Brother just drop your bodyfat percent like go and watch hritik roshan he has terrible gap but looks good

Hi auntie
Thankyou, really a informative video. I am starting massage at an MS centre and my first lady has type 1 diabetes and is given fortnightly intravenous injections. This has boosted my confidence,
thank you Elena, I completely get it as I also found diabetes a little intimidating when I was a student nurse, but once you get your head around the symptoms of hypo/hyperglycaemia, and you know the checks prior to massage ie. last injection, blood sugar reading, you'll be fine.If you know those things you'll already be doing better than a lot of therapists out there
Thankyou for doing a video on this matter 🙂 Looking thro your videos has given me alot to watch lol
WOW what a insightful video. I have had a ileoscopy for 4 years and having a massage has always felt a absolute NO. I have two surgical hernias too n a bad back so u can imagine how much a massage is needed lol. I'm in kent also but places I've asked have said no immediately. Any tips?
This is why I started teaching massage courses with a medical focus because unfortunately basic massage training doesnt tell students how to deal with even the most common medical issues. There is absolutely no reason why anyone with a stoma should be turned away from a massage treatment and if they are it is because either the therapist has no knowledge of understanding of stomas or how to adapt techniques and positioning for such a client, or because a lot of therapists out there are more spa/beauty orientated and the thought of seeing or smelling poo ruins their perfect beautiful world. If they actually had any understanding they would know that stoma clients really can be in need of the treatment for various reasons, that stoma bags are actually a lot more resilient to pressure than people think and finally they really just need to grow up. Everyone poops! I don't know whereabouts in Kent you are, I am in Tunbridge Wells and would be more than happy to treat you or anyone else with a stoma. You can contact me by email sam@medicalmassagelady.com or i am on google and facebook as The Medical Massage Lady.
