Suggestions for using this with multiple size goats? We keep Nigerians and nubians together

I always have issues when they pull their heads OUT of the feeder and drop 1/2 a mouthful. THANK YOU for the explanation!! I have a setup kinda similar, but the suggestions you made make sense with their behavior. Goats are so bougie

2 problems I see. 1 - too heavy on the grinding cuts as in one long cut instead of numerous tapping cuts. 1 longer cut will overheat the tooth. 2 - you showed the file for the rakers being both pushed then pulled. Files are made to be pushed only.

i watched pt1 and this pt2 of the ultimate feeder videos. they are amazingly useful, and got 4 comments only. what a pity. thank you very much for immense help you gave me, as i suffer from hay waste as much as any other goat keeper. have to think through how to adapt your design in my barn yet, but im loaded with science now and it's going to be somewhat easy.

So what do you suggest for goats with horns? If the opening for their head is big enough so they don't get stuck they can get out of the pen I to the feeder.

My goats have smaller heads than body. Raising it (so they have to step up and dip their heads down) should also help prevent them from jumping in.

Maybe just go with vertical bars rather than cattle mesh panels for horned goats. Or at an angle as he mentioned. The horizontal cross bars are the main issue goats would get head stuck.

You can still use fence line feeders (like this and others) with horned goats, just have a horizontal bar, wire or lumber about 8" above (for Boer goats), also the sloped timbers Shane mentioned but 2 x 1's. I have both and they work fine.

No disrespect, but that 2x4 shouldn’t have anything to do with the operations of the sharpener. The sharpener is bolted to the 4x4 which is a ridged mount.
