Have you compared this to a Performance Center version? I have the PC, however never tried your version. I suspect the PC is a plus, if optics will be used.
I see the newer Match Target has an aftermarket trigger shoe installed. Do you prefer that over the bare trigger? Do the trigger shoe set screws leave marks on the trigger? Besides the grips, are there any other differences between the newer and older 3rd series Match Targets? Do you prefer the wood or plastic grips for shooting?
Does anyone know what differentiates a Supermatic trophy from a Supermatic Citation? For the life of me I can't find any differences aside from the badging.
I would really like to own a Target Match series 2 or 3 some day to shoot with my others. Are any of them Ammo sensitive? What do they like to eat and what(ammo type, weight, brand)won’t they feed well with. I have two High standards, one a bull barrel military and the other a citation military and they are awesome shooters and not too ammo picky
Thanks Ben.. I have used various expensive brands in several Match pistols over the years and found that the more expensive brands grouped worse that the standard CCI ???? I have had Walther, Hammerli, Sako pistols but they were not at accurate as my High Standard Victor ! I am picking up a Model 41 after Christmas and hope it is as good as they say!
Have you noticed a difference in the new boxed CCI. 22 ammunition? ? It looks like it has been made by someone copying CCI. The brand stamp looks faint and grouping is very bad. .this is stuff sold in the UK
I have used minimags for years but with the ammo shortage, all I can get is blazer which cycles the slide just fine. It is actually better for steel targets because the less recoil allows follow up shots more quickly.
I’m the owner of a Supermatic Citation Military, with the same sights. I inherited it and I have only put about 100 rounds through it and I will probably never shoot it again. I have other 22 pistols and I don’t want to damage this one. It’s a 98% gun and I don’t want to damage it. They have a military heritage and Gary Powers had a silenced version in his possession when he didn’t “Spend the dollar”, when he was shot down over Russia. I’ll never sell it and I will pass it down to my grandkids.
That 6” 2nd series is my favorite not only for its accuracy but due to the location of the magazine release. Only downside is the Bakelite (colt plastic) grips but that really is insignificant.
I agree, the 2nd series woodsmans are the best shooters due to having the most desired features (push button magazine release, slide stop, HV ammo ability, nicer sights, larger grip size, nicer trigger design, etc). I also agree that accuracy is inherent in all three models. I am actually most accurate with my 1st series match target, but my second series get more range time because they are more fun.
At one time High Standard also made "military like" model called the HD. What you are showing is a bit of an upgrade over the HD. Never fired a Trophy but I have shot an HD. Both are nice firearms.
Good primer for a buyer to keep on hand. Bought a few the past couple years, because they were selling lower at auction. Just got a first series that scared bidders off. Just needs a thorough cleaning. It seems to have a later model magazine. This video reminded me of the two tone first gen. Gotta keep an eye out for those now.
The Targetsman is an economical version in the 3rd series woodsman line. The Huntsman was the cheapest, then the Targetsman, then the Woodsman Target model, then the most expensive was the Woodsman Match Target model. You never really see Targetsman pistols though. I don't know how rare they are, but I don't see too many of them.
I love this gun, really want one----- but got distracted by the fact that Volquartsen just introduced a scorpion in 22 wmr.--- got real excited and still am--- BUT then I discovered that the new gun weighs just under 4 pounds----- which was part of what attracted me to the scorpion in the first place--- the light weight, so now I'm back to thinking about the 22lr again.........
I have a 2nd series colt woodsman which I inherited from my father. I am not able to find a video of how to do a field strip in order to clean it. Can you please make a video of the process or guide me where to find it? I found some sites with written instructions but they are confusing. I rather to see the process on video. Thanks.
Only thing holding me back from buying one is the disassembly, now if they make one on the new Mark IV I would place an order today. I have a Mark III Lite that I put all the Tandemkross parks in so I could take it apart.
The new MK IV are available from VC now. I don't see them on their website, so you could give them a call. I have 2 of their customs. The triggers are amazing. The Scorpion I just got weighs just under 2 lbs.
I had one many years ago made in East Hartford. At 25 yards on sand bag rest it would shoot one hole. Back then I used Federal High Velocity ammo. Back during the late 70s and 80s Federal made some great ammo.
Can you highlight the main difference in terms of features between 2nd and 3rd series? does the slide stays open after the last round in second series?
There is a last round holdup in both the second and third series. The only exceptions are the challenger (2nd), huntsman (3rd), and targetsman (3rd) that do not lock open on the last shot. The only main difference is the location of the magazine release. Other than that the grips, trigger, and magazine safety has been changed.
Very close to my scorpion, I just have have the machined alum grips and my bolt is TicN coated(makes it an awesome rose gold color too!) The silver bolt you have is also coated in Chromium nitride, not just raw stainless, these are very well made guns with lots of extras high end features. Also the gun needs no oil/lube, which makes it a breeze to cleanup too.

How long did it take to ship ?

What do you and other collectors think about the 2nd series Match Target with the 6" heavy barrel?
There are 2 kinds of .22 cal shooters. Those that have a Model 41 and those who don't Any questions?
Sold my one a few months ago.. Great quality firearm..
how much did it sell for?
@@nickdipaolofan5948 £300. .it was in mint condition. .
@@cgdeerythat's crazy... Now they're selling between $1500-2000 USD. The magazines alone are selling for $150 USD
watching this one time was painful enough no need to repeat the pain

Good thing I brought my magnifying glass, so I can watch this video.
Beautiful
I love mine!
Belgium very good 👍👍👍
Enjoyed viewing your collection , thanks for sharing . If your interested in adding to it , you might consider trying to locate a pre woodsman .
Is the bluing different 2nd versus the third series? Are they Blue versus Black?

Hi I have a 3 series but does not say woodsman it says Targetsman is my gun different model ? it looks exactly like the woodsman

I have seen their hammer produce some light strikes because it's lightened so it doesn't hit as hard. Not common but it does happen

I've got the second series, 41/2" and it is the best and most accurate out of anything I own. you have a nice collection thanks for the post
Easy assembly? Not so much.
thank you for your info ,wichone would be the best to buy for target shooting
You get a subscription for also liking 22 plinkster and doing a great review.
