I remember first coming across this specific version of this song; I was in my early teens and I was coming up with all sorts of crazy stories. One really good example was this story that was loosely inspired by Amphibia, and one of the main villains I came up with was a female goddess/monster called Lusca (named after the creature from {I think} Caribbean mythology because I loved ancient mythology back then). Despite the fact that she was answering to someone even higher on the food chain, I still wanted Lusca to be the creepiest villain in the entire story; I wanted her very presence to invoke the sense of dread that you'd experience when you're about to die (specifically in some outdoors situation like a snowstorm or something else), and this cover definitely helped me come up with ways to make her the creepiest thing I ever made, especially because I still don't fully understand what that younger version of me was making. Thanks. Side note: I'm realizing that that version of me was trying to tackle some heavy subjects back then with this villain (among other ones) and I don't know if I should be scared or impressed by my old self.

This song is really clever with the way it romanticizes surrendering and becoming an edelwood tree only for the vocals to end with fire. As in that's it, that's the end of you if you choose this path. And it gives you this feeling of disorientation just like when someone is gone and you haven't quite gotten used to them not being there.
