Everyone needs more following distance when the weather is cold and there might be ice.
TQL the worst
They have their place in the industry.....
I think Oregon has the most weigh stations
Thank you for the guess
Stay home 😂
What do you mean?
My guess is Illinois has the most weight stations.?
Thanks for sending in your guess and listening!!!
@@quicktransport5231 Thanks for the cool show, been listening since you guys started! I'm just north of you guys in Iron Mountain! 👍😊
Likely true.
I have a whole ass backpack 😂 100% over prepared. It has everything I need for 72 hours. To include a hammock that doubles as a one man tent.
It’s very easy to have a real roadside breakdown kit, and leave all that stuff in the trunk and never touch it
Love Trask’s stash!!!👍👍👍
Great episode guys! Being a recent addition to the team, I can say with confidence that there is a true positive culture present at QuiCK Transport. Although every day has its challenges, the one constant that resonates is the importance of everyone on the team, regardless of their role. I have been asked numerous times what our culture is like, and I always sum it up with 3 words: We are.... Humble: We all show a modest estimate of our own value and importance. We put other's needs in front of our own. Kind: Treating others with dignity and respect - ALWAYS (even when others are not looking or listening) Confident: Surrounding ourselves with talented people who exude self-assurance in their own abilities and qualities, but more so the appreciation of what other team members bring to the table. Lastly...I think Taylor "hit the nail on the head" when he said, it's a vibe or feeling you have when you walk in the door at QuiCK Transport. I had the EXACT same feeling the very first time I stepped beyond the threshold of the front door. I can only think of one other time in my life when I felt that same way about a place, which was when my wife and I stepped through the front door of our current home for the first time. We immediately looked at each other and knew this was our home. Twenty years later, we still feel the same, and I'm confident the same holds true at QuiCK Transport.
I believe there are a couple factors that go into people putting up with the not so great jobs. 1- they may be new to the industry and are trying to get the experience they need to move on to hopefully get into the better company or have a not so great driving record and have no other choice. 2- the trucking industry has a history of long hours, crappy pay, and crappy benefits. When I started (a long time ago) that’s what you expected. $5-7 dollars an hour and maybe health insurance. No retirement plan, dental or vision or vacation. I’m glad things have changed in the right direction.
John, Thanks for sharing this! Its sad that people have to put up with it!
Blue collar workers with podcasts is the way to go. We must out the tools down and replace them with marketing fluff and software licences. We must do this I fear God and I fear unlicenced commercial software.
Exactly the way tmc treated me, I moved on 2 bigger and better things...
Shouting back for the shout out
Oh Boy!!!
Listen to the whole episode, This short doesn't share the whole story. It was in comparison to a mile in theoretical terms.
It does not take 4 dang miles to stop a semi...
4 miles... how fast are you going holy shit..I've never needed anywhere close to that.
I love it, great job Quinn and Trask! Thanks for the shoutout...and let's get at it!
Glad you like it, Thanks Ken
Put brokers working from home on minimum wage
size ?
Cool shit
Keep up the good work, buddy
A discussion about truck driver wages without truck drivers present.
Where can I order that exact tension tool
They change the pay packages just to trick people. If you average 1600 a week by the mile, they introduce an hourly pay with "overtime" with rates for this and that and it sounds great, until you realize that it's set up for you to still end up averaging 1600. But then you find out that they set it up for you to have to work longer to hit that. You no longer get a good load that you can finish quick without losing money
Truck driving is so cut throat and back stabbing, I don't see many trying to be truck drivers once they get a taste of how messed up and sneaky truck driving companies are.
Great.. ill borrow a table next time im untarping at a receiver. Totally pointless video. Wasted my time.. and wasted another 30 seconds writing this... Smh 😒
If there is a live lesson on changing tires (removing and placing) on flatbed that's would be great! Thanks!
Hell I wanna drive for y'all just so I can raid that snack room.😂
What was the length of the tank?
I find it quicker and easier using a Midtronics battery diagnostics tester for battery , starting , and charging systems . The carbon pile load tester is still a valuable tool to use . Nice video !
About time
Hey college boys lets do a podcast 5 likes 👍 pencil necks😂
I’m on Texas Logs , so I run roughly 70-80 sometimes more if needed but I also get paid by the hour , I load milk into our tankers and then deliver them , , so it’s a timely task
Construction workers get overtime , but you don’t see the price of housing going up because they get overtime, it’s the honest and fair thing to do
I can ;-) go over my 70 every week and still not be able to afford a home to go to when I come off the road
This is why you need to get paid hourly..that way your always getting paid no matter what..it's sad when over the road drivers working for free half the day
I'm interested please
If it passed would you reduce the hourly rate to make your labor expense stay the same?
Their are laws in place where they can’t mess with what you currently get paid
@@AmericanUnderground Really? So you are saying companies never lower wages, rates, or salaries? They most certainly do.
@@MidlifeTrucker-ThomBell minimum wage is as low as they can go Many trucking companies have been successfully sued in court and required to pay drivers at least minimum wage
These bills were not meant to passed. They introduce bills late in the sessions knowing they’ll never get a vote before the session ends. But if it were to pass, the carriers will limit drivers to 40 hours. At 40 hours, their weekly pay would be far less.
more than likely, they'd just reduce the hourly rate to a level so that what a driver gets paid wouldn't be that different on average. If the average driver goes 600 miles a day at 50 cents a mile, they'd just pay everyone so that eight hours of straight pay and four hours of overtime pay each day equals to around $300.
@@bgbgbg123and no more running over your 70 because there would be no incentive

Hog Wash
@@charleshanna2089 Really? With what part do you disagree?
@@MidlifeTrucker-ThomBell carriers cant meet demands or get enough drivers now Drivers working 40 hours a week wont get the loads moved to destination and there wont be any relay 2 drivers to move the same load the same distance is additional workers comp , benefits Social Security taxes and insurance liability
I'd think some overtime would be standard. especially for OTR. Its not a good use of time and resources to have someone drive from say Florida to California in 40 hours and then take two days off before taking another load back. For those two days, the driver is stuck in an unfamiliar city not getting paid and the truck is sitting there not being utilized. Even if they had to pay time and a half, it would still likely be more profitable for the company than not moving at all.
@@bgbgbg123 Carriers could use more lease contractors for the long range. Independent contractors are not subject to overtime laws. Then they can have employee drivers work 4 on, 4 off, slip seating the trucks. Labor costs would be close to the same but drivers would make far less.
What the Hell does everyone keep bringing up Time Sitting in a Dock. Most Drivers get Paid by the Mile or only when the wheels are Turning. Time is a Dock is OFF DUTY. Our clock is stopped so Overtime Pay will not effect how long we sit in a Dock unless we are Forced to be ON DUTY sitting in a Dock Door and that will effect how many mile we can drive and will cut our pay. Overtime Pay is Not the Answer and will end up Screwing the Driver.
That’s wrong entirely.
The hours of service are a safety regulation not a hour and wage regjlation
That's a good company boy..😅😂
Nah, bud. Time away from home is work. Period.
I want paid time immediately sitting at shippers and receivers. It would accelerate everything for everyone.
IT'S ABOUT THE MONEY!!! Dude on the right with the "drivers already do get it" sounds just like my 1st Mega Carrier Fleet Manager put on your shirt, ties, & shiny shoes on next time you know your regular office dress please😂 Leave the Carrier that don't pay overtime!!! There's PLENTY that DO!!! I've got less then a year & am making $32.70 hour O.T at +8hrs (68-70hrs $2500 avg wk.), Per Diem, $0 BC&BS, 17% Company contribution to anyone of 3 retirement plans With a sleeper on the truck if I'm out of range of my terminal I GO TO THE COMPANY PAID HOTEL!!! In 1986 my Ol Man hung in for a company who he thought had his "best interest" for .22 cpm split put his family on welfare at home Suckers work for CPM
