(Return) The debate resulted to USSR withdrawaling all of the personnel aiding China. In 1969, Chen-pao island conflict and Alexei conflict break out, the two countries become hostile. Million of troops confront in the border, it was said that USSR once threaten China with nuclear strike. In 1979, China establish diplomatic relations with USA. In the same year, USSR waged war on Afghanistan, which lead to massive loss in next decade. China was involved in supporting Afghanistan against USSR. In late 1980s, Both China and USSR realized that the conflict had caused irreparable damage to both countries and their communist cause. USSR wrote apologize document to China, but didn't make it to send out; China gathered 300 million dollars foreign exchange tried to save USSR, but didn't arrive in time. In 1991, USSR demised. The Sino-Soviet relationship laid deep and indelible print on Chinese history, which is still effecting China now. Chineses have mixed feeling about USSR -- Once comrade, Once enemy, but always a teacher. China is determined to carry on the unfinished cause of USSR, the ideal of communism, the great unity of people. Today, this determination is still going on.
