Finally got around to editing this video of my install of the Walbro 255 LPH fuel pump for my 240sx S13. I also wired in a Bosch 5 pin relay to ensure consistent power to the fuel pump, and included a fuel pump killswitch to create a sort of "anti-theft" device.     Necro post, but you missed a crucial step. Pull the fuses for ignition and fuel injection. Pin throttle wide open, then test. Closed throttle will not give an accurate reading.

    6 year old vid but if anyone reads this- the silver garnish that you remove can be removed AFTER the headlight is out. The only piece necessary to remove are the two set screws and the black plastic bezel that goes around the light. Do not remove your headlight cover, that is an unnecessary step that can leave your panels misaligned

      If your silver bracket screws were rusty and stripped like mine, drill them out, then go to ACE or whatever hardware store and get some m3 screws shortest they have and acorn nuts. You'll never have a problem again

      S14s it would just be a bulb. With the s13’s flip up headlights you replace the entire headlight

    Only 6 Phillips screws need to come out, NOT 12! I've owned my 240sx-LE for 32 years and this is a 5-minute job that can be done on the side of a highway, if req'd ... just the 4 screws for the black plastic cover, then skip a flat driver under the upper metal cover & tilt it forward and it will NOT break. Then the 2 upper screws on the metal frame, tilt it forward and take the old headlight from behind it, after unplugging ... then everything in reverse. No ratchet required. 🙂 The center screw below the lamp is for alignment, which you can check with a tape measure, once you park it close to a wall on level ground and measure the height of the beam, then turn that screw until they are both equal. 🙂 The $27 Sylvania H6054 white lamp from Cdn Tire is perfect ... enjoy!

    Stock ignition? Did you run into any issues with stock distributor? Other than your CAS wheel that you mentioned? I have a ka-t but im building my second motor to be around your same hp numbers and am torn between going for coil on plug setup or keeping stock distributor setup because COP is hella expensive, any help appreciated! Great video too

      Haven’t been able to drive the car much after getting it tuned, but they have held up great so far. Engine feels super healthy and strong. They’re rated for 800hp and I’m only around 500 at the crank, so still a bit of room to grow. Thanks for watching!

    For anybody watching this i changed my headlights bc one of burned out anf wasn't working anymore so I decided to replace both but when I was doing this my pop up cover wouldn't come off on the left light so moral of the story is u actually don't need to remove the pop up cover just the plastic and that little frame right after the plastic garnish just to make things a little easier

    I have a KA24DE in my 2002 Nissan Frontier and the coolant hose configuration seems to be a little different. The truck motor is mounted "in line" as opposed to mounted transversely in the auto. Are the KA24DE motors mounted transversely in the cars different?

      Yeah! Ive been in college since fall 2018 and am studying to be a Mechanical Engineer so ive been busy but the car is still in storage at my shop. Plan on taking my internship money this summer and giving her some TLC. Life has just gotten the best of me but I’ll be back my man

      Yes sir, had the end gap adjusted based on the amount of boost i planned on running. My machine shop did it for me👍🏻

      @@thatgreens1380 Ah I see. I have a question about something similar, I might of pulled a big no no on my KA lol. Also to mention, my KA is completely NA with the stock bore. Unknown mileage on the engine. I did hone the cylinders though. I ordered rings from a place called DNJ Rock, the rings were made for the stock bore and I installed them on my pistons. I forgot to check the end gap. Did I really mess up bad? Is it safe to try and start the engine? I was told by some that the rings are usually pregapped for stock applications.

      @@aku-pf4tl I’d contact the manufacturer and see what they have to say. If they were made for the normal NA setup then they should be fine. Removing additional material is only necessary so the ring forms a perfect circle when at operating temp instead of expanding into itself causing blowby and possibly engine failure etc. Did the rings come with any spec sheets?

      Let me elaborate: the more boost/pressure in the cylinder, the more heat the rings will be subjected to and thus more material needs to be removed to compensate during expansion. If they were already pre-gapped for the NA application then they should be fine

      @@thatgreens1380 The rings did not come with any spec sheets. The rings were ordered through a reseller/distributor called partsgeek, of course I call them and they didn't know anything. I couldn't get a hold of DNJ at all. They were made for the NA stock bore size. A lot of people have told me the same thing on forums, that if they were made for the stock bore size then I should be okay- and that if anything, rings are usually sent oversized rather than too tight. The listing also had no information about the gap size. Of course if I ask any mechanic they would think I'm an idiot, but it seems like these old motors can handle abuse and people who are experienced on KAs seem to say I'm fine.

    11:58 No way this car has almost 100whp in drivetrain loss. Whatever the loss was when stock (35'ish whp) will always be its loss and doesn't magically take twice the amount of power to turn the dyno rollers after adding a turbo. "Power loss on a chassis dyno is not a constant percentage that loses more power the more you make" Gale Banks TST Podcast #389 at 1:33:12

      TurboDieselDan i agree with your quote from the podcast and think you may have just misheard me in the video. car made 410whp so if you do the math for 18% drivetrain loss as estimated by one of my past tuners (410/82=x/100) and cross multiply to solve it will give you 500 crank hp and about a 90hp loss to the wheels (500hp-90hp=410whp).

      DAVID K bottom end is built with a stock refreshed head. it cost all in all about 15k with all the highest quality parts and tuning..but I could probably make another 200whp on the setup if i built the head and added some supporting mods
