It's my 2nd year with bees and one of my hives was getting robbed a couple of weeks ago. I knew something weird was happening because the bees were trying to enter through the lid and the vent holes! We also caught a swarm this year... what a crazy experience!

@@curly-hairedcountrygal1275 I am at 22 full layens hives ( I have a couple resource hives also) 1 langstroff (just as a experiment to see the difference) and 3 long lang ( again to experiment to see what the differences are. Yes my journey with this began about the same timeframe as yours did, it is nice to see we are going at about the same rate. I am hopeful of my overwinter this year would like to grow to about 30 hives and able to sell about 10 3 frame nucs next year with the splits. I am pretty convince with doing the experimenting that I definitely prefer the layens system. Last winter i went into it with 16 layens and 5 long lang I lost 1 layens and 4 long lang. I am pretty stubborn so I populated the long lang again and populated a langstroff box to test one more time to see how the bees do.

You don't live on a "Homestead" There's no such thing in the USA any longer. You bought some property in the country and are choosing to live this way. I "Homesteaded" my house and adjacent land within city limits years ago. Good luck with your venture. I have to work with somebody like you folks that lives on a 300'x300' lot and considers himself a "Homesteader". There's something about the term "Homesteader" that chaps my ass. What about native Americans that have lived and worked these lands for hundreds, if not thousands of years? Now we have people that drink craft beer, wine "Buy a homestead" and come running to town if there's an issue. 90% of you all are fake wannabes.

They make another powerhorse model with a 420 cc engine that is much better but it only chips and doesn’t shred. Also, putting wet cardboard into a shredder will only make a mess and clog. I have the 6.5 hp version if your shredder and didn’t care for it either but i really like 420 cc drum chipper.

I’ve had mine since 2016. Do not overstuff it and keep your material under 2” ( more like 1.50”) and it will last long time. Don’t store gas in for a long time without stabilizer. Maintain carburetor. I love this machine.

I bet that's what I was doing! Thanks for the great reminders- my husband is great about working out old fuel from tools, I need to remember that! • @curly-hairedcountrygal1275

That's something I've been learning a little more about recently. A few years ago I assumed line breeding was bad for chickens like it is for larger livestock. Recently a friend educated me that it's very common with chickens and rabbits. On the other hand, I've heard that genetic problems can start to show up after several generations of in breeding so I think I have much more to learn!

I believe your heart is in the right place but you are uninformed about raw milk being 100% safe. Most diseases related to raw milk in the past was related to cleanliness and the old process in which we prcessed milk that being said there are some diseases that are just in raw milk and you can die from it. ua-cam.com/video/5Io7pndpz1M/v-deo.htmlsi=SZOAADZPRbHqeXO7 There have been people in the us that have died from raw milk. Although the way we raise our food now i still believe raw milk is still overall healthy i feel your doing a big disservice to your audience by saying there's no deaths. Nothing is 100% safe.

Good morning! I was looking back over the video, and I don't believe I actually said that raw milk is 100% safe, maybe I missed it? Like anything (even salad greens!) it may not be 100% "safe" if it's not kept clean, but to me it's 1000% worth any minor risks! Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts! And it's not me that's saying there's no deaths, but rather realmilk.com. But it's always good for me to check my sources, so I should dig in more sometime!
