What is shoulder impingement?
Переглядів 5 тис.7 років тому
In this video I discuss shoulder impingement- the cause, presentation, and some exercises to help relieve the pain due to impingement. A thorough demonstration of the exercises to help with shoulder impingement can be seen in my video entitled "The Scap 3". This video demonstrates 3 exercises which I utilize with my patients who are experiencing shoulder pain due to sub-acromial impingement. For an explanation on impingement, and why these exercises help, see my next video "What is impingement?" How much should the dumbelel be please can you say >?
3 x 10 how frequently for optimal rehabilitation? Every other day? Daily? Twice daily?
How many reps/sets?
I got tennis elbow from doing Olympic lifts. Probably a technical fault when turning over the bar for cleans and snatches, but it takes so long to heal
I have both tennis elbow and golfers elbow on my right arm. How do I do exercises without interfering the other exercise?
Holy mackerel gimme those arms
Tq for this video..Very effective.
HOW HEAVY OF A WEIGHT
Suffering from golfer's elbow on both sides here from overdoing it on some bicep curls. It doesn't take long.
Weight? Rest among 3 sets? Thank you.
how to get treatment if I loss my elbow muscles.
Every video I see where they are using a weight for this exercise. They never tell how much weight is being used. Is it 2 pounds 5 pounds 7 pounds ? That seems like a very important fact that is being left out in the exercise.
Would this be helpful for tendonitis from playing guitar?
Why eccentric? How about Theraband?
I have tennis elbow and golfers elbow on the same arm. I started of 1 kg with 6 repetitions of three sets each day for tennis elbow last yeaar. Now I can make 40 repetetions of three sets of 1 kg. When I increase weight to 1.5 kg I cant see any healing improvement on my tennis elbow and it get worse. I know 1 kg is the best weight for tennis elbow. I started exercises for golfers elbow 3 months ago of 1 kg with 5 repetetions. Now I can do 22 repetetions of three sets each day. now its much more better than when I started exercises. when I started exercises last year I couldnt open a door or take a glass of water. Now I can do them easily with no pain. I want to ask you how many repetetions do I have to reach for full recovery with 1 kg for tennis elbow and golfers elbow.?
You explain this very well.
Thanks SO MUCH!! These exercises were a godsend. 4+ months with barely any improvement, and very frustrating setbacks. Then i began trying these and in just one week my elbows feel like new. Cant believe all along it was this simple. For anybody reading this: stretches are also fundamental. As your tendon fibres recover, they do not have a good form. Stretches help to shape the tissue correctly as it heals
any recommendations for stretches?
@@fawazsyed2765 /watch?v=CzT3oE7DgWM ⬅these ones have been great for me. I find them even more effective doing them against a wall, leaving my hand on one point and every 10 - 15 seconds varying the angle (by leaving the hand where it is but moving my body to the right or to the left, doing it one hand at a time) 😄
How often u did the exercise in the video ?
@@fawazsyed2765 sorry probably late but here's a good start: /watch?v=3N4QWRnGeeA
2-3 times weekly but that's just me@@anujsarvang433

You should definitely try lifting. You look weak.
Once you get rid of the pain do you need to continue these exercises as a precaution for future pain? Or does it build up muscles enough to no longer have the pain?
hello, I have tennis elbow disease on my left arm for 3 months, do we have to do these exercises every day? I will be glad if you answer. good day
One year with this problem. Lost time and money trying to solve it without success. Look no further. Thank a lot man!
Thank you my brother, will do this now and get back to you.
A very late response with a strange question. What brand pants do you wear in this video?
What weight should i use? 1kg-2kg?
Can you give a general idea of how heavy of a dumbbell you recommend. I normally do not use any weights, but do a fair amount of isometric exercises. I would like to buy a dumbbell to use, but have no idea what size would be appropriate. Thanks for any guidance!
Thank you for the video. I have seen a lot of physical therapists put videos up like this, but I'm wondering if you might be able to provide clarity: Why is it that only the eccentric portion causes healing? What is the mechanism behind that? And if that is the healing process, how does one prevent it? Get stronger at eccentric wrist curls?
Good info but slow and always coughing.
thanks for the video i have inflammation in my right arm i was told to look up tennis elbow excerise.

Thank you for this simple, easy to follow plan of treatment!
Golfers elbow. Tennis elbow. How about housewife’s elbow?
Ok I will try this and come with update
Thank You..It works like a Charm. Within 2 weeks its completely Gone. Thank You Sir :) Greetings from INDIA .
Great job. Really helped. Btw wish i had your guns.
Would this exercise be just as effective for healing ligaments as healing tendons? What I have is basically golfer's elbow but according to an ultrasound it's partly-torn ligaments instead of tendons. I've been trying to get over this injury for years.
I am another who found no relief for swimmers elbow in both arms. So WTF, bought me some weights and for two months did this exercise working up from 2 pound to 8 pound weights. It worked and I am not going to quit either. I will still continue this exercise in hopes it will prevent a reoccurrence.
Very nice video info and explanation.
I have pain on both sides so I think I have both golfer's and tennis elbow in both elbows so I pray this works
Worked immediately
ngl,it's worked thanks doc
what should you do if you actually have pain in BOTH sides?
I got a tennis elbow from playing golf. (bad technique as beginner at the driving range)
Beautifully explained!! Will try it out
I think that stretching is the first step. Exercises are the second. Pain is a must without flexibility...
Hello i ruptured my bicep playing golf im 61 and classic symptoms occurred. Heard the pop around the world. Excruciating Pain through 18 holes. Next week massive bruising on forearm on inner elbow. Have full range in my arm, no pain except the common aching associated while healing, but fully functional. I was throwing football the next day with no pain at all. I do have reverse popeye deformity. About 20% loss in power, palm down to palm up. I do not want the surgery. Can i still play golf, without having the surgery? I have been using my right arm to push the club, and want to correct that, but to think i cant play golf again is troublesome. Is there any gud news for me? Are there excercizes i can do to strenghten for playing gold with this arm?
Dr John Dougherty - You The Man!!! I salute you Sir!
I'm hoping one of you weight lifters can give me some advice on this. I'm not a body builder, but I'm an Ironworker so my job has a lot of heavy lifting. I was holding a piece of angle Iron (80-90lbs) about 40 feet in the air while my partner was trying to anchor it to a wall. I was in a bind but couldn't just drop it. I have a shooting pain in the bone on the Sid of my elbow. Not a muscle. Any idea what the problem may be? Thanks for any advice. I've been icing it but it is a shoot pain even lifting something like 2lb. BTW I was in a position that would be like a 1 handed curl w/the bottom of my tri. against the rail of a man lift.
Do we do this every day or moreso everywhere day?
Thanks
Can I do these lying in an incline bench?
