    I boil the egg shells then bake them in the oven for about 10 minutes. Toss in a bullet blender and blend until they're a fine powder.

    I am aware it is pronounced --- Cascarilla (pronounced: kas-kah-ree-ya). I was only saying it in English. I am Puerto Rican and bilingual. Spanish is my first language. Thanks y'all! Blessings.

    I'll have to try the vinegar! The first bit of eggs I saved, I didn't clean the membrane after use and they molded (though maybe I didn't dry them long enough, and I did put them all in a sealed ziplock). This time, I've been removing the membrane right after cooking with them and setting them out to dry, then storing them in a bowl. So far so good there. I do have a question though. Even once I've removed the membrane, I continue to rub my fingers against the inside of the egg shell under the warm water and more still seems to be there. It's kind of like how when you get sunburn and you can rub that spot and the skin peels. Are there multiple layers to the membrane? Or does the vinegar just allow ALL of it to come out at once?

    • @CalypsoQuestell
      @CalypsoQuestell 4 роки тому

      Yes, it contains two layers. In my experience the vinegar removes both layers flawlessly.

    I love the in-depth tutorial; most I find don’t tell you why they do what they do, just what you’re supposed to do. I did have a question, you said the flour makes it last longer? Does the eggshell mold? How does it degrade, over time...?

    • @CalypsoQuestell
      @CalypsoQuestell 4 роки тому

      I've never had an issue. I believe it would mold if the membranes weren't taken out properly. Flour also helps with it's color and for it to paint the way it does. At lest from my experience.

    Do you have that membrane if you boil you eggs?

    • @CalypsoQuestell
      @CalypsoQuestell 4 роки тому

      I am not sure since I have never seen it done that way. You can try and see! I just save the shells as I eat them.

    Made Cascarilla for the first time ! I let the eggs soak in vinegar mixture with moon water and black salt (just for added protection & blessing) and forgot about it so it sat over night 😣 The membrane came out pretty much intact but I did loose quite a few pieces of egg because they were brittle from the vinegar but I noticed I was easier to mash them up after drying them out in the oven on a low temp for about 30 min. All in all it was a good first attempt. Didn’t add anything extra to the finished product but I’m very happy with it. Also, the crunching sound is so satisfying lol 💜 BB!

    So is it bad if you don't take out the membranes? is it just you can't get as fine a powder and it's a little off color?

    As far as altar directions, mine faces west. My faith tends to follow along bloodlines. There is native american, british, germanic and norwegian. In native ways west is the land of the spirits and facing that way is how I call to them though went I start my circle, I start at the North because most of my ancestors are from the north so I honor that direction first.

    Love the video ur adorable!!! Just a suggestion though.....anytime I use eggs I IMMEDIATELY RINSE THE SHELL out in the sink and the membrane comes out with just using my thumb/finger as I rinse it out. It makes life a lot easier in my opinion.... To each is own though! Lol blessed be!

    I'm sorry. I too lost my mom seven years this month and I lost my son in February of this year back then I did not know about altars I started a year ago but I have soo many questions no answers I would like to connect to my son I know he is around because I I would be so drain for a couple of days and then I feel my head swells up sometimes and I keep calling his name I just don't know how to connect with them through my altar is there a book or maybe you can give me some highlight thank you.
