Whale shark tour
In the last week of June 2017, a large group of my friends got together in Playa Del Carmen for a week of celebrating the fact that most of us turn 40 this year. Among the activities offered by the hotel was this whale-shark tour, I was the only one in the group excited about the opportunity to swim with these amazing animals and was not going to miss this chance.
So, at 6:30 a.m., I stepped on to a tour bus that took me to Cancun where I would take a boat 20 miles out to sea for this grand adventure.

She's wants to crawl so bad but gets frustrated with herself.
can you debaffle a 2019 m50 without any issues. it seems everything that I would like to do to my 2019 (specifically) becomes a long flippin project.
Dod you have any power issues after?
So good! Love it. Was a great time!
Great video! When and where did you see this whale shark?
Wild Me, it was a whale shark tour I took out of Cancun 2 weeks ago. I have quite a bit more video to edit and will post a longer version soon.
you can just drill those holes if you like, anything you do to the back end of the exhaust will get more air through the bike, and increase the sound.
Can I just drill the holes on the outside as you did instead of punching through baffle plates? I am not looking for too much loudness and not sure if punching through the baffles will have to be accompanied with some engine tuning as well.
Where'd you get the metal rod to knock out the baffle plates?
It a construction stake, I was in my garage years ago when I bought my house. You will have to ask around your hardware/construction stores. I know that doesn't help much ,sorry.
nah, it's okay. Do you happen to know the measurements of the stake? i.e. circumference or diameter?
Wonderful thing to do for the kids, Stefano; we love you!
Ozzy, not really sure... most exhaust are similar, if it was mine i would go for it. On my 07 Vstar, i was able to remove the last baffle all together, instead of drill around it. if you want pics or vids of what i did, i could upload a finished product...
Does it work on Intruder 1400.. year 2004?...
Would the sound be made better if you only drilled the holes and didn't put the spike through?
I don't know that your get much power increase as it seems it may mess with your back pressure just a bit. Maybe displace from high end to low end power.
Just to clarify, back pressure is a myth..is does not effect bikes in the least. If you change the intake, then yes but exhaust no...
Moneyhauler, I recommend re-jetting, it isn't difficult, you will have to adjust float bowl also. but ryan never did and still runs great according to him.
I have an 04 Volusia. I am thinking about doing this mod but my bike runs a little lean already and Im wondering if you had to mess with the jetting in the carb or readjust the carb at all with releasing some of the back pressure?
No such thing as back pressure..
Thanks Tiff! Hope you enjoy it.
Sweet deal! I'm goin look into this for my '01! Also, the guitar riffs and drums fills got a good ring to it too!
Rick. Ryan's bike is carbureted. We didn't re-jet and he says it still running great 2 years later.
Rick, it was not for either bike because they are fuel injected. If your bike is carbureted, like my Vstar, then I would look into it.
Hey Cody, did you do or do you think a rejet is necessary after this mod??
Thanks Dawn, hope you and your husband enjoy the new sound. Ride safe!!
The steak goes right up the baffle?? No doubt producing a rich aroma of grilled beef for anyone riding behind you. Nice.
Niiiiice Cody. I wonder if she ever decided.
@pbobi we actually found it one day on youtube, we didn't like the 'whole baffle' sound either, and the videos were terrible so we made one of our own. i'm glad you like the new sound. If you have any friends with a VTX or vstar, i'm getting ready to do those as well.
@pbobi Alright man... sorry it took so long but i have posted the video of the M50 in it's final state. it is simply called 'chad final'. not very creative. i hope you like the sound, i think you will...
to see how we did this click 'codyneilstudios' and watch the other vid.
@bobi4i4o i dont know exactly why the volusia is louder to begin with. i know that ryan (volusia owner) has turned down his idle speed and being carbureted probably has the most to do with it. the hole drilling around the baffle plate just lets out enough exhaust to increase the note. removing the baffle all together just doesn't sound good on this model bike, it does on others, like my vstar 1100 (video in production) good luck with your m50 modification!
@pbobi thanks for enjoying our video! our goal was to make it extremely easy for anyone to do this to their own bike, and to make it watchable. I will get with Chad and taek some vid of his bike after the second wall was punctured. look for it here soon... thanks again.
@bobi4i4o I own the Volusia in this video. We only drilled the first wall on the M50 and both on the Volusia. After riding around for a bit, my friend who has the M50 decided to drill the second wall as well. His bike sounds louder now. We also adjusted his idle speed and that made a difference in the rhythm and tone. -Ryan We both love the modifications!
