I think cyclone LANE was bigger there was also ZERO wind and rain so heavy that you couldnt see the shore and the raindrops were so big they hurt you and created a mist a life defining surf for me!

I surfed it a few years ago when cyclone LANE hit Waikiki the cops tried to stop me going out but I made it through the barrier it was EPIC there are crazy reefs way out, the bouy of alamoana got ripped off the bottom and I seriously caught a wave at publics which is a highlight of my 50 years of surfing!!!!!

What happened next??

Stopped watching one of my favorite events when I heard one of the commentators talk trash about the people in Cali loosing there homes. You think everyone in Pacific Palisades owns 7 homes and can afford to lose one. Ive never heard someone say something so freaking stupid and insane. There are thousands who have lost everything. Kids who have no home. Pets lost. Memories. Everything gone.

That is wild. To think there were likely people doing this 200+ years ago...why not?

These canoes are a lot smaller and lighter than the big red ones we used to ride at Canoes when I was a grom. Still wouldn't want to get hit by one though hehe.

i had to watch this a few times i miss riding the commers my feet don't work anymore and i can't even get across the beach but i remember riding the big lake swells that traveled across Lake Huron just for me to play on the speed the power of it...the power i felt bright, wet memories "bound is boatless man"

I was lucky to go out with the old school beach boys when they needed an extra guy. Went out on a big day, Bobby Ah Choy at the helm, he called out to me as we took off on an overhead wave, "bettah than sex, eh, bruddah?" Damn I miss those days, lucky you guys still out there loving it. Aloha.

I lived on Oahu 30 years ago and surfed town 10-15 feet.
