How I still garden in the middle of a Canadian winter
Переглядів 744Рік тому
As a Canadian, I've always dreamed of keeping my garden going through the winter. This year I did just that using a cold frame. Using a cold frame I harvested carrots and spinach in January! Cold frames have a long history dating back to Roman times, where they were used to protect crops from harsh weather conditions. Over time, these structures evolved from simple mounds of earth to more sophi...

Jessey farms parks and backyards in Toronto and this is his inspiring story. It all started for Jessey when he started farming his own backyard. His neighbours took notice and asked if he could do the same to their unused backyards. Six years later and Jessey (alongside his partner Misha) just broke ground on their biggest plot yet: a 1/2 acre in Downsview Park. The new farm is BEAUTIFUL. It's ...

Harvesting Strawberries From My Garden
Переглядів 3643 роки тому
A short, no-talking video about harvesting some strawberries from my garden and eating it with my family. This is my first year growing strawberries- and it's been a lot of fun! We've had cousins come over and pick strawberries and we've had enough to have more than a few bowls ourselves. Filming this video was a bit of an experiment. I did it over the course of a free Saturday morning. I'm ins...

The REAL Way To Get Rid Of Aphids On Bell Peppers
Переглядів 196 тис.4 роки тому
I recently ran into a problem: aphids. They were all over my bell pepper plant. I tried a bunch of different ideas to get rid of them. I tried crushing the aphids with my bare hands. I tried pressure washing the aphids off of the plant. I tried setting aphid traps. None of this worked. What ended up working for me was ladybugs. This video explains how I used the ladybugs to get rid of my aphids.
