    Wow your review is somewhat different than others? Some say that they are great but that the tweeter is not great , unless you are setting right inline with it , and at ear level. That if you don’t have it pointed right at you , or stand up you lose some of the sound quality ?

    The PMCs just won award for sound quality in their price range. I think the speakers are more suited to small rooms. Sound very clear and transparent.

    Great video, I also use dial calliper to measure the screws to the edge of head shell slot and that also helps getting the cartridge in line or use a steel ruke to measure the distance to get it equal . Regards mark

    I understand I'm hearing your room, through your mic and the compression of UA-cam but it sounds 'cuppy' and 'one-note bass' on my monitors and headphones. Kudos for putting together this video though, many thanks for your hard work.

    Still happy with my two sets for a 5.1 system. Front and backs are Kef iQ1’s. Just got a great receiver with the power to drive these. Using Dirac on them got them so clean sounding for music. Mine a black, still got the original manuals and boxes. The design is timeless. Just started looking at a set of new front speakers just to get a bit more for stereo music, but still in dought.

    Hello! Now I have a big trouble 🙈 I bought recently a Douk X1, as a phono preamp. My setup is: a ProJect turntable, a Denon AVR-X1500H receiver, a ProJect phono amp, 2 passive speakers. I wanted to replace the Project preamp with the Douk X1, it has the Phono Input, but it doesn't have an audio RCA output 😞 So ...I could use it without the Denon receiver, which is unacceptable for me, because with the receiver I am using the TV audio too, with the same passive speakers. So...the Douk X1 has 2 audio inlets. Do you have any idea, how could I use this, as a classic phono preamp, with my setup? (I don't want to use the speaker out ports from the Douk X1. Thank you so much! 🙂👍🏻

    aweful combo 😢 Kef R3 can do soooo much better. Your dac and amplifier gear have too many active electronics in them that suck all available power, not much is left to amplify actual sound output... it sounds dull and dry. For example my Denon has pure analog mode when it disable electronics such as: chips, display, dacs... and it really makes a difference.

    It doesn't add anything. It just cleans up the "dirtyness" in the power. Like anything else audioquest sells it cleans or blocks the crap in a signal to allow your system to play to its full potential

    I have one of these and a B and W zeppelin, and I dot think sound wise there is much difference. What the Technics does offer is the amazing way is throws the sound out. It fills a room much better than the zeppelin. Also the technics offer more conections, its a hand down winner.

    I have borrowed naim uniti nova pe because I thought it would play better than my hegel h390 but overall I liked hegel more in music. that's why I will give naim back. In your opinion will I feel a positive difference if I replace my hegel h390 amplifier with hegel h600?

    Sounds horrific but then a poorly recorded UA-cam video is no way to judge a loudspeaker. I'd also be concerned that within 10 years you'd witness particles exiting the bass port as the expanded foam in the transmission line turns to dust, as it will over time.

    • @robmeulendijks1793
      @robmeulendijks1793 Місяць тому

      True, the foam starting to decay over time is one of my main concerns in buying a speaker like this.

    Interesting video. Interesting also to read the comments. As a physicist I can say that on the face of it, there shouldn't be a difference, according to basic theory. Unfortunately, highly resolving systems don't seem to obey basic theory. Power supplies don't behave perfectly according to basic theory and do not completely and perfectly isolate the electronics from the mains. And unfortunately, the mains is also not a perfect sine wave. Often there is noise on the mains. And on the earth conductor. Inaudible high frequencies can reduce the electronics' abilities to cope with the signals that we actually want. Many of the cues that lead us to regard a recording as being lifelike are the very low level ones - like the room acoustics, like the differences that place an instrument at the front of the stage and not at the back. If your system is highly resolving, you can hear these differences. If not, you can't. Also many people are not used to listening critically for fine details - or to a single instrument in a group. If you can do this, then you are on your way to hearing the subtle differences that hi-fi buffs talk about. And it helps to know your system REALLY well. That is often achieved by tweaking your existing equipment and not by buying new stuff every few months. People who have years of practice listening to fine differences in highly resolving stable systems CAN hear the differences in loudspeaker, signal and power cables. But the majority can't. Hence the skeptics. I can hear the difference between when my loudspeaker cables are lying on the floor to when they are on cable risers. But I have listened to this system almost unchanged but constantly tweaked for 20 years. I should know it. And I can sometimes hear the difference when bad power cables are used. BUT I can ALWAYS hear the difference whsn loudspeaker and signal cables are changed. So don't criticise those who can hear the difference - they're just further down the road on this wonderful journey. All the best, Rob in Switzerland

      Very well said sir. To bad some folks are so narrow minded sometimes. I've been playing with this stuff for over 50 years and also have experience in the radar/avionics/flight simulator stuff so I have a good grip on things. I also am a power engineer and understand some metallurgy at the granular level. It is possible electron flow is more chaotic than smooth flow as it's made out to be. That's why Cryotone tubes are so good and some companies cryo their crossover networks. The stuff works as you say.
