Is it ADHD or Anxiety? (How to tell the difference)
Переглядів 328Рік тому
Lots of patients who think they have ADHD actually have anxiety. But the two conditions go hand-in-hand. It's very misleading, because the symptoms of ADHD and anxiety can overlap significantly. Both ADHD and anxiety lead to inattention, distractibility, procrastination, fidgeting, waiting mode, trouble organising, and an inability to relax. In this video, I thought it would be good to give you...

I struggled so much with procrastination, organisation and lateness at university but was never diagnosed as im a girl and always did well in school. Despite getting a good grade overall when asking for a reference for an MA my course convenor sent me a reply listing what were basically my ADHD symptoms, handing in things late, disorganization etc and then said what makes you think you can do a Master's? It really stung as with this condition even though you desperately try you cannot help it. Luckily now im on a path more suited to my true interests with people who get it and am making adaptions for myself such as using a voice to text app and giving myself routines and good self care. Glad to see more recognition of executive function difficulties is happening. I hope one day that lecturer understands I wasn't lazy my brain just works differently.

Hi @theadhdmedic Thanks for this video. Got a few questions... 1. Fudge Ratio aside - How do I even go about estimating? How do you come up with the initial number before including fudge ratio? I get really crippled when people ask me my estimation on some tasks... 2. It's a weird question - if I'm calculating my fudge ratio via task tracking and my brain tells me "nah it should xx time instead" (fudge ratio working) and I put that, wouldn't my fudge ratio be screwed up? Either it would be accurate (est = actual) or the task fudge ratio may be affected. (As I write this I have some idea what I can do but curious of your answer)

Nice to see another person with ADHD who wakes up early, although I do so completely voluntarily, most mornings I wake up at 3 AM (even though my workday doesn't begin until 8 AM) since I love all the morning time to myself. I guess I wake up so early I'm almost a backdoor night owl, haha

We used to call on the phone to make an appointment, we got the receptionist on the phone, she made an appointment or connected us to the right person. Now we call and the receptionist wants our phone number and somewhere in eternity the right person will call back. I am in the 'I make an appointment now' mode NOW and want this task to be finished, but they let it open. I think people with ADHD should be able to say this adn tell them we are not able to continue our day until they have called. Plus, while calling them about a bill, I don't have my papers under my arm when I am in a lunchroom and they call back. When they call back it's never convenient.

Need hygiene habit tips for wudu. I was, basically, a smelly girl when I was younger, and while I'm more normal now as far as generic showering, I still feel avoidant of getting wet any more than I can help. The standard shower amount was bad enough, now after converting it's not enough that I got to this point (which is demoralizing to consider) cuz wudu. It's a huge barrier cuz ya can't pray without it. The prayer itself is nice.
