This is going to be a special video to me. I recently visited HOOTAO to shoot this clip in early spring in Kyushu, Japan. Visual bit is alomost done & I look forward to work with this beautiful Erhu player in Beijing. So it's takes a little more to complete this project. 九州大分県玖珠にHOOTAOさんを訪ねて動画撮影完了。後は北京在住の素敵な二胡奏者さんとの作業が待っています。まだ完成までにちょっとかかりそうです。

Nevermore thank you very much for your message. Actually, the video itself is almost ready, but just takes times to get music part together this time as i'm working with other musician. I can't predict what the audiences reaction would be, yet there're lots of hootao in both kung fu & taichi, also hoping you would enjoy breathtaking natural bueaty of Kusu region in Japan!

Thank you seekingthebuilder for your comment. It was mainly Hootao's generous co-operation that he did try to shooot the way i wanted. ( i live in shanghai and he's in japan). In fact he did more than I asked and i'm nvery grateful for that.

Hello, Nevermore. hootao himself didn't get opportunity to study this particular form directly from master Zhang, but he was able to study it with his training mate at the time. I was told that the master is very well respected by so many people so as his forms. I now know that by fact.
Well, he has the most famous, and yet not so spread, Zui Quan style since he's the one who taught Jackie Chan for the "Drunken Master" movie. I learned that form myself from my master, who was one of Zhang's pupil. So yes, he's very respected. One of the only true traditional 8 drunken immortals.

As you can see in my vids I used to learn under GrandMaster 張克治 in Taiwan during five years and since I came back to France we invited him to come for a drunken seminar last summer in june 2013 in south of France. I know he used to spend couple of years in Japan teaching there long time ago and I'm glade to see his kung-fu still alive in Japan! Hootao Kung-fu's very good and that's the real traditional drunken, I hope I can be in touch with him and even his teacher because I'm writing a book about traditional Drunken boxing and Master 張克治
+riseofwind Hello, It's Yoriko here. I recently received an inquiry about Grand Master Zhang from Aleksey Fedaev who lives in Russia and practices the art.I was wondering if its OK if I reffer him to you?
This is based on the form Hootao lerned from a Japanese student who studied with Master 張克治 of Taiwan. It took place at江蘇省武術館while he was studying 1985~86. 張氏洪拳by this master seems to be very well established in Taiwan, also Master has some western students as well, so Hootao recommneds you to search on the net to find some connection to the Master if you seriously wish to learn the form. Here is reply from Hootao."This is basically“変架子”練習, or“老八掌変架子”. Hootao studied “老八掌”with劉玉萍老師who was at北京体育学院武術教研室in1986-7.That was the base of this particular form though,also this“老八掌”was allegedly handed down to李天驥老師.Hootao used some of the moves that he learned at that time to perform this form, so it may exhibit some of the 沙式 characteristic."
