In this channel, you will find many videos on cars modifications and fabrications. I am an engineer, not a mechanic. I do these work strictly in the weekend as a hobby. I love being out in the garage turning wrenches. My interests are fast cars, classic cars, restomods, lifted trucks and stereo systems. You will find lots of my projects revolve around these.

#c8corvette #z51 #brakes GM stated that these cooling ducts are for "track use" only! A few viewers brought to my attention. Road debris could get in the rotor and cause damages. Very rare, but could happen. Solution would be adding a screen to the rear duct's inlet or removing the 2 pieces that attaches to the rear lower control arm. Assemble it back on for track use

Nice job, I'm going to repair my jack.
nice looking good. that is a lot of work.
Could it be that only one antenna needs to be disconnected to disable OnStar communications? Maybe the GPS antenna can be left connected? Many C8 owners are now wondering how to disable OnStar since GM was sued for selling data for insurance companies. Several days ago nav on my 23 C8 stopped working unless I agree to let GM sell my privacy. I want OnStar gone!
I appreciated this video. Would be useful to know what each of those three antenna connections are. Maybe I could keep GPS connected but disconnect remote access to my car and data?
Nice! I had my engine bay custom done. Really brings it out!! And cel on sport cats since adding the sensors?
Hi. Still no CEL after adding the O2 sensor extension!
@@ktgarage1126 And did you go with 2m cats? And which sensors? Appreciate the information
@@jasonmceeableI went with Kooks high flow cats. Not sure which sensor you refer to? I reuse the 02 sensor. I deleted the NPP Valves and replaced with a simulator from Paragon Performance
Hey I’m just wondering what model of humvee did you start with?
Hi. It was an M998
Instead of prying the alternator back with a crowbar, you’re supposed to use a 1/2” breaker bar in the 1/2” square hole in the top alternator bracket to tension the belts.
Thanks for the comment! Another viewer also pointed this out a while back! I didn’t have a manual so I was justing figuring things out myself. It would have been easier if I knew about the square hole!
Think I might just buy a new jack lol
Haha… a lot of people would take that route! I like to do things the hard way
Same color as my 87 z28
Great choice. We picked this color because it wasn’t available for the 3rd gen back then
What kind of line did you use? I have the problem where I can't actually snake the thinner ones down, it gets stuck somewhere.
I used the weedeater trimmer lines.
At the wheels 20 and 21? Very nice
Thanks. Yes, 20 in front, 21 in the back. 325mm tires on the back
Thx for the video.I will install the fronts but not the rears.Ron Fellows driver's school recommends the rear for the track only because of possible road debris that will get them tore off.
Hi. Yes, I plan on removing the rear 2 pieces that attaches to the lower control arm and put back on for track use. You still can leave the piece that attaches to the spindle since it is away from the air stream.
Hello @ktgarage1126 Kudos on the daring and unique mod, it looks great. I randomly found your video when I was searching for information about how to delete OnStar on the C8 and no videos discussing this could be found but you do seem to touch on this and now have some knowledge about the topic. Can you please share more information or even a follow up video, I will subscribe just to see what you have to say on the topic. I want to completely disable/delete OnStar and it seems by unplugging these modules, hidden under the fenders, you were able to achieve this, right? I think you said that the downside is that the other GPS functions in the car will also be disable by unplugging these modules, like navigation. Is this correct? Couldn't you just use android auto or apple car play to get navigation/gps functions back on your infotainment system? Is there any way you could test this and make a video about it? What other features or things do not work correctly when the modules are unplugged? What about front lift memory functions? I know lots of people do not like or want OnStar so I'm sure if you made a video specific to this topic it would be very appreciated and likely get many views but people need to know the process and what the downsides are. Thank you
Hi. The biggest downside for not having OnStar is losing your GPS. This means you can’t track where your vehicle is anymore. I know that insurance will cover when your vehicle is stolen, but will all the mods I put in, I don’t want to do them all over again with another C8. Yes, all you need to do is unplug the antenna cable and OnStar will no longer work. Not sure about front lift memories, but I think you will lose that as well since it rely on GPS. Any GPS related functions will be lost. I’ll do another followup video when I have sometime. Thanks for the suggestion!
Thanks
Glad to hear the video is helpful
So looking at the fronts, where does the rotors get the air from? I know on my ZL1 there are ducts directly from the front of the car that redirect the air flow. Those on the C8 look like it smoothes out the air flow under the car. I would have thought there would be a more direct flow to the fronts since those generate more heat than the rears.
Not sure about non-Z51, but my Z51 came from the factory with a air vent that's sticking out of the inner fender, pointing at the wheel. It is plumped from the front bumper. The Lower control arm plastic piece I guess help directing the air to the Rotor.
Another oligophrenic American finding competitive aspect in driving a truck on public road
Thank you nice job.
Thanks!
0:05 ok ok
Very interesting, beats the heck out just paper instructions. Looks like the frint should probably be installed for street use. Hold the back for install before tracking! Thank You!
Great plan! You still can install the piece that goes on rear spindle. Just leave out the 2 pieces that mounts to the lower control arm for track use only!
Is it stock?
No, it has a 520ci Jon Kasse Boss 9 in it. 800 hp
Statement from GM “During the 2020 Stingray Z51 pre-delivery inspection, the lower and upper front rubber brake intake cooling ducts and the upper rear brake intake duct shall be installed on every Z51 C8.” Also as specified in the PDI, “the cooling ducts attached to the lower rear control arm are for track use only and should not be installed during the PDI.”
Thanks for the info! One of the guys suggested adding a screen to the rear duct, I think it’s a good idea. I’ll epoxy it in next time I have the wheels off
If you read the owners manual, these cooling ducts are for Track use ONLY!!! Not to be used for street use!!!
If you plan on going 180 mph, these ducts will probably fall off, but I don’t see an issue with everyday driving. They are quite sturdy! I do hard acceleration and stop, but I don’t plan on driving that fast on the freeway
Any debris from street use can be forced into your rotors and cause big problems with the rotors and pads. If you read the owners manual it says for track use ONLY!!!
@@jackm6816I think chances of getting road debris in the ducts are very low. I’ll leave mine on and report back if I have any issues with rotors/pads.
@@jackm6816How about adding mesh screens to the air entry ducts? This will be a personal add-on.
@@mt8073excellent idea. Next time I have the wheels off, I’ll epoxy in some mesh!
👍. My Z51 C8 came with the front installed, the 2nd piece of the rear ducts wasn't.
Thanks for the comment. I guess the dealer gets to decide whether to install some of it or just left it for the owner to install!
😳👍
Very nice work , but I’m a stickler for stock so far I’ve kept mine stock but after seeing this?
Thanks. These mods are not too aggressive, your C8 still look like a C8. Just a bid different from the pack!
Great job on your video. I have a 2023 htc 2lt. New sub.
Thanks 👍
This sounds amazing man very nice job im installing mine soon
Thanks. You will love it!
Did you have to tune it after the turbo swap? If so what tuning did you use, I’m interested in this same setup
You don’t need any additional tune. It’s a direct swap!
@@ktgarage1126 that’s great news, what delete tune are you running? Any issues? I heard ez link with ampd is good and sct also
@@JasonShoreI use Ez link with 5 selector switch. Not sure what the name of the tune is but it ran fine with the new turbo. I normally set at 150 gain and it pulls ready hard
I’m on the fence here as I don’t want the cel! But I’m considering it for the volume increase.
I am over 200 miles in with the extender. Still no CEL! It is encouraging….
@@ktgarage1126 Nice! Have you noticed any increase with these? Any new smells? Or hp gain?

@@ktgarage1126oh wow you have a sports to nice. Ill sub
Do you install your cats after your exhaust? And if you did how much louder with the cats?
I installed both at the same time. However, the hi flow cat is what makes it sound much louder. The cat-back changes the tone, but will not be much louder
@@ktgarage1126 No that’s not true in my case . I have Awe Track exhaust and it sounds insane the cold starts are obnoxious.
@@jasonmceeable are you comparing to a Z51 with valve opened or a standard exhaust? The Z51 with valve fully opened should have similar sound level to the aftermarket exhaust. If you think that’s loud, wait until the hi flow cats goes in. My family in the backyard can hear me from 2 blocks away!
@@ktgarage1126 Wow ! Yeah my cold start is insane and it’s very loud . No I had no z51 just base exhaust. Awe Track is insanely loud just wondering if the cats will add volume.
@@jasonmceeable ya, the hi flow cats will add volume for sure. My cold start will wake up the whole neighborhood. When I leave early in the morning, I had to start with the garage door closed until the rpm goes down! Or all the poor neighbors will be up. It sounds really nice when you go to lower gear to pass someone in the highway
Lot of wasted fuel
Thanks for the videos I been wanting to add high flow cats for a while but scared of having to deal with cei
I put on a few hundred miles already. Not CEL! Will update in a few months!
You should NOT have to remove the fender to install this mod. That's very poor design.
Agreed 100%
Use a toilet paper roll cut down and put in the hole. If the bolt falls, it lands in roll.
Cool idea!

Great video, man. Nice job.
Appreciate it!
The stock cats have very good flow. People need to do better research before buying aftermarket.
Seems like you need to do better research. 400 cells Kooks vs 700 cells stock, which one has better flow and lower back pressure? I can definitely feel the performance gain from the swap. Not to mention the incredible sound. The question is: is it worth the trouble with the CEL? Time will tell if the O2 sensor extension will take care of it. If it took care of the CEL issue, then I say it's a good upgrade. Again, it's not for everyone... and you can form your own opinion. All good....
love it bro, this is exactly how Im gonna make my stingray! Orange and black is the way to go! looks like a full fledged supercar! Keep up the great content bro you got a subscribe from me <3
Thanks for the subscribe. Really appreciate your supports!
A chase is a race
Instead of using a crowbar, put a ratchet in that square hole on the bracket and you can put tension on the alternator without taking a chance of damaging it.
Thanks for letting me know. I did not realize that there is a square hole that would fit a ratchet there! That is a better way of putting tension on the belt!
Much needed info. Please keep us posted if the check engine light stays off. I am strongly considering to go with the 2M fabrication high flow cats but the CEL is holding me off
Absolutely! I drove a few miles and CEL is off. Will give guy guys an update in a few months!
