i love the idea to keep the private keys away from all devices, but isnt walking around with that QR code with your private keys an even bigger risk? hope you will still respond since this video is 7 months old :)

I love this device. I'm teaching my college age daughter how to Bitcoin. We haven't stepped up to multi-sig yet. And the security model of her living in a shared apartment creates different concerns.This is defintely the next step on our journey.

My personal experience with the build and operation felt like a graduation to the next level of understanding in my journey with Bitcoin. Printing paper wallets in '17 to this is almost incomparable. The ink may run over time. I would use a pencil and then laminate it to prevent smudges.

Since raspberry pi isn’t built as a security device is there any advantage to this over purpose built hardware wallet like cold Card or keystone pro if price isn’t really a big concern? Regardless, I do think it’s important that there are DIY solutions.

I'm unable to find the seed qr template on your github

One correction, the faucet transaction is likely green because it is an incoming transaction, not because it identified me as the sender.

So it's a security trade-off right? Do you remember a PIN and/or passphrase (with a traditional offline wallet like ColdCard) or do you hide the paper copy of the QR code somewhere (perhaps where it will be confused with a bunch of other random QR codes...). I actually like this approach. (I personally think the traditional "stamp your seed phrase into metal and hide that somewhere" is way overdone - what's the threat model? And where are you going to hide that thing? It's _much_ easier to hide a QR code somewhere - for example, mark it directly on some interior page of some particular book on your bookshelves ... or stitch it with a contrasting color thread on the inside of a pocket of some old shirt in your closet ... or just print it on a small piece of paper and paste it to the inside lid of a box of breakfast cereal in your pantry looking just like an advertising link ...)

While typing the words you said "I choose 24 words" (instead of 12) and then "Absence" (instead of Absent)? Do I hear it correctly?

That boot time is a bummer. A microcontroller might've been a better option, don't really need an OS for a simple, stateless device.
