Noooo, it's perfect
Thank you for editing
Just discovered your channel and really enjoy these quick runthrough's of games: the analysis is very helpful as well. Just one beginner's question: At 8:14 in the video, why can't white take the two stones at P5 and P6? Is it because he would not have enough time after that to make a second eye for that group? Thank you so much for making these!
He can take the two stones but that’s only one eye and you need 2 to live so you is trying to find a 2nd eye. And I’m glad you like my videos and find them helpful!
Thanks, Contraband!
Again, love the commentary, always very incisive. I thought the 2k played pretty strong. I've seen you beat much stronger opponents with more ease.
I think I just underestimated him a bit too much. So ended up playing some slow moves.
That was way above my level. Lol.
I like the old videos more when you don't cut out any moves. I believe your videos are already short and fast enough.
A few editing glitches there. Also please at the end of the video do not put the links to other games on top of the board. It hides the last few moves. Apart from that. Great content.
1:02 I love that you've started cutting these videos down for information density, though I feel like stuff like this is still worth keeping in. The skipped sequence isn't obvious if you haven't seen it.
Trying a new editing tool that makes it a lot faster, but it does cut somethings I don’t want it to. Those are parts that I missed. Hopefully as I improve at using it all the moves will be shown.
The classic make multiple weak groups and then dies everywhere while the enemy profits from attacking.
Yup lol
One of your best videos for quality explanation and close contest: edge of my seat start to finish! The only trouble I had following was near the transition to endgame.
I was tired and spaced out towards the end so hopefully next time I can explain it a bit better. Still not used to talking and playing at 7d yet.
@@contrabandgo Honestly, I don't know how you do it. I can't talk and think at the same time, especially not while thinking of recording a video.
one of your top games
Are you drawing these boxes during the live game while commenting, or do you do this afterwards? If it is live, I am seriously impressed!!! Keep up the great work
It’s after when I’m editing
your commentary/thought process is very useful. I appreciate your editing to respect people's time, however I personally need more time to digest what you are saying and connect it to the board position (or even to decide whether I need to pause), so I would recommend a bit less of this clipping.
I appreciate the feedback, I’ll try and give them more space
@@contrabandgo I like this format.
Every time I watch the game I think, now it's going to start. This guy is a genius of destruction.
I have no idea how Go works, but that was cool. Have some algorithm engagement!
It’s a pretty fun game! And thanks for the comment!
nice review! what client are you using?
Kgs
Pretty sure he had to play this at 3:34 since it would've been an L in the corner if you haned and connected, no?
The white turn at b4 is sente because I'm a bit weak on the outside so its L+1 so he can then play in the corner and live. I doubt I noticed it in the video though so I am probably just wrong lol
Great series. Understanding the strategy/thinking of master players in 11 mins is invaluable. Thanks Brandon!
What year was this game played?
1949
@@contrabandgo I found it. [1949-12-08] 5th Japanese Honinbo, league Black: Kitani Minoru 8p White: Suzuki Etsuo 5p Thank you!
@ I also left the game in the description so might be a bit easier to find next time lol
Great idea for a series, and great game choice, too. Kitani played so powerfully here, really cool to see.
Nice video
Suggestion for future games: tell us at the beginning who is playing Black or White. It wasn't until 0:01:30 that I was certain that Kitani was playing Black.
Yeah I struggled with names and colors for this one lol
¡Hala!
I always lose against these players. Still haven’t figured out the knack of just keeping my groups connected, a lot of your moves look slow / passive to me but their strength reveals itself later.
Not sure if this will make sense lol but I like to compare it to day trading and long term investing. Most Go players are like day traders they want the quick results and sometimes get lucky but sometimes lose a lot. The Go players that play solid and connected are like long term investors. By investing in strong groups they take way less risk and have a much higher upside.
I feel such rage when I lose to the super over greedy players, especially when it feels like they just make random moves and have to read and run into time trouble. All that said, it’s great incentive to have more reading practice to get faster. Thanks for the video. You are always a great reminder to just keep it simple
I recently came across one of your videos, and your Go channel instantly became a favorite! I really appreciate how you keep the videos concise while still making them engaging and clearly explaining each move. Great work-keep it up!
Thank you, I’m glad you like them!
Well played. Nice and calm. Felt like you just kept saying, “why are you killing yourself?!”
lol
Wow, under 5 minutes. calll it blitz killing
It was a lot longer before editing lol
I haven't checked with AI but to me T3 felt like a mistake. N7 to sort of surround and force black to either live with 2 points or give you more strength feels better IMO. Thanks for the videos by the way, they're great keep it up !
Your opponent was an endgame monster. That 12 points you lost by all materialized in the endgame. Nice of you to show a loss, life is a journey.
I truly appreciate all the video editing work you employ to bring excellence to the viewing/learning experience.
Thanks for the video!
Hey, it's also interesting to see "us" ;-) (you) lose sometime!
really love ur videos!
Hey thanks <3
Connecting tesuji was awesome! Super useful and worth remembering.
Thanks! I always love watching your videos. I would really appreciate if you could show the dead stones at the end just quickly. For less advanced players like me 😊
Awesome video, I really appreciate that you show endgame ! The tesuji was amazing I'll try to remember it :)
Ty, Contraband.
show loss please
What did you think of the music added to the endgame part?
I liked it, funny
Very nice it was fun
It was very serene
I dislike background music when there is talking, but like the music then (no talking)
Nice one. Really handy tesuji at O18 there :)
Yes, very useful
Wow you make it look so simple. Great video and advice, thank you!!
Contraband: Thanks for the tips!
Thanks for the tips! I just have to say that it looks like Contraband got corporate sponsorship or is in bed with big Pharma! This video is beautiful. The production and editing are top-notch. Thanks for raising the bar for everyone in the Go community. It is really impressive work. Well done.
Thanks, pretty sure I can do waaaaay better though lol
I certainly conclude that the guy at 0:50 needs to study more. He hasn't even noticed that there are two dead stones right in front of him.
Solid video!

Another one is slowing down while playing. Especially when you get that feeling that you are at a crucial moment in the game. It is important to take your time and make sure you aren't just playing the first move that comes to mind.
That’s a very good one!
