What kind of drumheads are you using? Regarding your playing, you picked a deceptively hard tune because the Purdy shuffle is a tricky thing to execute with the feel. That's why he's Bernard Purdy. Keep it up though. You sound good.

Need to work on my right hand technique for the hi hat shuffle on this. It doesn't come naturally

Hi, for a low rock tone I tune both heads to their lowest possible pitches. If I need a tighter tone, I tune the resonant head's pitch a perfect fourth higher than the batter. For jazzier stuff I tune both heads a bit higher, according to taste. I don't think I could say it more clearly with a video. Search for Bob Gatzen's bass drum tuning video if you want more info on the fundamentals of drum tuning.

Sound quality is GREAT with the simple 3 mic set up! Well done!

At first I was like, "HOLY SHIT it's Chucky as a teenager!!!" but after listening for a few seconds I realized this guy is a slick drummer. I liken you to a young Benny Greb sir, which is saying a LOT. Keep it up!

@MonsterEatingBoy : Very reasonable compared to a lot of high-end drums such as DW, Yamaha PHX, Sonor SQ2, Pearl Reference etc... For me, they're worth every penny!
