    Those clean tones sound like the amp’s sitting at the bottom of a full swimming pool. I work mainly in the clean to edge of breakup zone and I like glassy cleans, so I prefer the sound of the Origin 20.

    • @ashleyguitarandpedals
      @ashleyguitarandpedals 6 днів тому

      I agree! It didn’t sound quite that muddy in the room, but I’ve found that you need to crank the mids and highs at low volume to get a usable tone. I guess the EQ is set like that because when the amp starts to break up, the highs start coming through much more!

    • @richardsmith9615
      @richardsmith9615 4 дні тому

      It could have something to do with how it was mic'd. If the volume was set for a driven sound, then maybe there was a little too much headroom when playing at low gain, which would explain some of the muddyness imo. Just a theory, anyway.

    Does your Maiden have a JJ 12ax7 valve? I can't get my Maiden with a strat to get that clean sound on the highest bright setting without sounding harsh or brittle....I usually use the bottom setting, mine has a Tung Sol valve.

    • @ashleyguitarandpedals
      @ashleyguitarandpedals 9 днів тому

      I’m not sure what it has to be honest. I’m not sure if that top end is much to do with the valve though - I find that particular guitar to have a lot of top end in general, so perhaps that is the ingredient in the mix that you are hearing … 🤷🏻‍♂️

    Hi Ashley. I have exactly the same issue with my pedal. I got it to combine various Fender amps, some with reverb, some without. The phase switch is now, of course, stuck on the setting that puts my non-reverb Fenders and reverb Fenders out of phase. It's a good pedal otherwise but this issue is very annoying. What's the problem, do you think? Is the whole not in the right spot or too small? Was the light bent and somehow pushing the whole board out of position?

    • @ashleyguitarandpedals
      @ashleyguitarandpedals 25 днів тому

      @@ashleyguitarandpedals Marshalls in general really like the guitar volume to be backed off in that 8-9 range to tame the harshness, my old 70s 4 holer included. Don't be afraid to dime the treble and middle knobs and control the top end/gain from the guitar volume(no treble bleed). Great hairy cleans through crunchy rhythms to leads just from the guitar volume. The classic Marshall circuits were voiced around no treble bleeds on guitars and players controlling stage volume with the guitar volume. Which can indeed sound quite harsh with the guitar on 10.

      Hi! I’m going into the effects return (power amp) of a Marshall Origin 20 combo amp. Hope that helps to give a bit of context 🙌🏻

      I agree - the Blackstar seems to love anything you throw at it - a really good all-rounder!

      @@ashleyguitarandpedals 😂 2 different variations but both are the 24 volt version. Single stomp and 2 dual stomp. I saw someone selling one for cheap so I bought a backup… I might have a problem. 😂

    Looking good. Seems like more quality for your money than their SGnkit. How does it feel in terms of weight?

      It’s not dissimilar to the weight of a strat - substantial enough, but not going to break your back! 🤣👍
