Great production of Children of Dune, I'm really impressed. Even the mighty David Lynch could not contain Herbert's Dune book series, Next is God Emperor of Dune. That would be even more challenging. But our technologies advance and this makes it possible.

This adaption of Children of Dune is OK, it's good... But everything gets much more complex from this. Leto II is gonna rock your world.

When Alia says "I want my brother." When Paul said "I'm sorry,... Sister." Man those two really got me.

Movies aren't books, and vice versa. That said, the two miniseries are closer to the main ideas of the first three books than either the Lynch version or the latest version--which is largely a response to the Lynch version and ignores the miniseries. The plot is closer to that of the books. The characterization is also closer. In the latest, Chani is "woke" (I guess the expression is), but Herbert's Chani is not: She is meant as a foil to Irulan and to the other politically motivated women. She plays the traditional role of loving mother. There are women like that, but nowadays women all have to be brutal, like most men (!). Or take The Baron: in both Hollywood versions he is a disgusting, hideous monster, but in the 2001 (and 2003) miniseries he is clever, calculating, intelligent, and witty. This last point draws our attention to the miniseries script, which is superior to either movie. Imagine characters who are actually literate. The rhyming couplets, for instance, recall Shakespeare, both for who says the lines and when. What they did with a limited budget and other constraints still makes the miniseries superior, in my view, to the two Hollywood movies. [Note: I don't know anything about the new TV series Dune Prophecy. That's based on books written by Herbert's son and another writer.]

It is amusing to hear the super privileged comment on their manipulation by many as if that wasn't part of their 'job'. Far better to live an ordinary life beyond the reach of the power hungry. Of course, to manage that is not easy.

The fascination with the ruling class in this miniseries is disgusting. For once, I'd like to see a production where the privileged were kept in their short-term place waiting for the next group to rapidly replace them and the power hungry on high medication to keep them from doing harm to everyone else. The privileged don't deserve worship just a heavy dose of responsibility.

This, I think, was the best of Dune for the reading impaired even in 2024. Great acting, sufferable variations from the books because of the budget... Did I say great acting?

The screenplay and characterization in this production exeeds all the glitz and noise of the new Dune movies --even though the limited budget is evident. Budgets ain't everything...

All the Dune movies, especially this one and the David Lynch version, are much better than the recent Dune 1 & 2.

My first experience of DUNE, is reading Frank Herbert's books: "DUNE" & "DUNE MESSIAH", but I never got to read; "The Children of DUNE", when the Original Movie came out!! I even named an Afghanistan Hound Dog Moo'Aud'Deeb after this book & movie, for my dog looked like a Desert Mouse!!!

The mini series was far more true to the books than the recent films. They really accomplished a lot on a super small budget

Chani was the only one he truly loved, since he dreamed of her before he even arrived on Dune. no other woman was in his dreams, not even the Emperor's daughter who he later married. he DID tell her that she would produce no children from him.

The Dune universe saw me through one of the most trying periods of my life, thanks Frank Herbert.

Truly a shame that these versions weren't given a bigger budget, I like the news ones, but these sci-fi movies were better.
