The sunny reflections are not a problem. They're what you'd see if you were on the train. I rode it in 1957, and would love to do it again. It was dark when we reached the top in that long ago time, so it's much better to be able to experience it in sunlight, even if only on a screen. Thanks for sharing this great ride! 🙂

Just think… there is a reason why this historic and proud AMERICAN railroad has faithfully succeeded throughout railroad history. Of ALL the fallen flags (wonderful as they were) and mergers, there is only one railroad which never lost it’s colors - the U. P. ! Of todays few mega class one RR’s, the U. P. is the only one standing from a purist standpoint. Thank you for this video! Good photography and correct soothing background music. AAA+.

Thanks from an "Original UP/CPRR Transcon RR" enthusiast, Darrell. Go to OMCA site, navigate past their intro, and wonderful evidence of what was found in 1960 exists thru Russell's lense.

At 4:35, we see Tunnel Number 3, the Tagard Tunnel/bridges over Weber River.. One can take this exit and get up close to this rather noteworthy original ROW construction. When completed late spring of 1869, A.J. Russell, UP's imminent photographer, took photos here, along with his friend, photographer Charles Savage, of SLC.., minus the interstate intrusion. Some of these images can be viewed on OMCA site. Mormon labor helped build this area, under threat from CPRR, headed from west, in it's push to gain congressional funding. You know a first-class locomotive like the Big Boy needs a first-class caboose at the rear of the train. There are dozens of UP cabooses that have been fully restored around the country, and I'm sure one of the owners would be happy to let UP use the caboose on excursions. Instead, we have a caboose tied on to the end of the train, that looks like it was setting in a Trailer Park, for the last 30 years, and they slapped a pair of trucks under and added it to the train

At 7:05 in your video and a bit before. You caught a UAP checking out the BigBoY!! It make changes course at one point. So quick it’s not possible by an aircraft or helicopter.

I understand the benefits to the train itself. But I love to see these old steamers pulling the train by themselves. It shows their true awesomeness and power. Big boy needs no help from no diesel.
