Excellent video. Thank you so much for sharing your experience. Made my job a lot easier!
I wonder if it would help to put a thin layer of grease just around the smooth part of the caliper pins hex head to help prevent corrosion between the head and the recessed chamber in the caliper
@@cristopherfrakes1416 absolutely or even completely fill the hole as very common problem. Could also use a rubber grommet which some do have
@ComrodMsport yeah mine had his rubber grommets, but two of them must have come out, and now my caliper pins are seized so bad that even using a torch, Petey blaster, and Milwaukee's biggest impact the fuckers won't come out
@ 😟 sounds like the only option left is to get the war face out ua-cam.com/users/shortsRqjAY6f1frk?si=dDna9NI0Vk8CZ-Sd

love that

Excelent job. Had to take mine to the machinist, completely stripped the bolt.
Brilliant video on the fork seals, Do you know how to change the internal fork bushes.

@@BEEFDOCTOR officially I’m not sure but I don’t think it would want to go past 80mph/130kph
Good thought provoking video. I've got a mate that's got a Matt black 2009 model. With twin arrows. The sound alone makes me want one. awesome sound, spine tingling. Want one more now after watching this. Cheers.
Any advice for someone who’s doing their first ever tackday at brands? On an R1 as well lol

What do you call that thing that you replace from reservoir
@@motoguieb if you mean in place of the original rear master cylinder, it is a thumb brake junction valve/splitter
Thanks for the video, just helped me a lot 👍🏾
Have the same bike in green here in cork City, have it 4 years with no issues till Sunday last.went for a spin to kinsale with a friend who was driving a brand new crf 300 honda, i was a mile from home ,after about 50 miles, when it lost all power, still ran and ticked over but refused to move,i think its called, bogged down.i got a tow for the last mile home up one of the steepest hills in cork northside,,dublin hill, scary on a car tow.hopefully its nothing major, dirty carburetor or something, enjoyed your review. Michael...
Hi, can you update us about your bike? Is it running now?
Lovely review! If I didn't want one of these before watching, I definitely do now. Regarding the sliding seat, I believe the backrest has to be in the upright position or else the pillion seat locking to the frame stops the seat from sliding.
Good review thanks. It's been hard to find an unbiased, non waffle review.
Sad that you lost it. I just purchased my 1st fireblade. A 99 with 34000kms.
Hi mate where did u get the kart setup sheet?
Hi mate👋 I honestly can’t remember if I made it myself or just found it online. Used the same layout for years so just copy more when they are low, sorry
@@ComrodMsportno worries, thanks for letting me know 👍
Nice video 👌 was there that day too! Oil and the bumps weren’t ideal 😘
Too much bike for a gokart track.
It's pretty rare here in the US also. A guy I know just got one and he was looking for a while
Very informative with clear explanations. Thanks.
Slow down!!!
Strange how those camera angles speed everything up 👀
Think something like 2500 were imported from Japan into the USA and Canada sold for 2 years 2005 was the yellow black frame 2006 was the black and grey frame.. I have a 2006 myself black and grey in indiana in usa love the bike fun little scoot
Have you ever thought of using a shuttle valve so you can avoid modifying the rear master cylinder? i wonder if that will work.
You mean like a brake bias valve?
A shuttle valve ot double check valve, Used to allow fluid to pass though it from two sources, 2 inlet 1 outlet. It has a moving shutter inside, if one of the inlet has the higher pressure will move the shutter shutting the opposite inlet and allowing its fluid to move.
The idea is, using 2 brake master cylinder to 1 brake caliper.
also i read that, it allows reverse flow during depressurise
@@kimabella613 not something I’ve seen done but it sounds in theory like it will work. You would have to keep both master cylinder reservoirs though so more fluid to bleed/check/renew and you would potentially have more connections (failure points) in the plumbing 🤷♂️ maybe why it’s not common place
off topic but... can you see the ocean from your front door....
Not quite, maybe with some binoculars
Great video I have one also and spot on summary , these are rare as and will be selling it very soon
Why you selling?
Got too many toys and not enough space
Wuooo gracias 👏👏
I've been trying to sort my TCS issues aswell on my 14. I got the Tdrive rotors and since then, it's been a snafu. I have to do my forks on my bike aswell, hopefully I'll get out on Lagunaseca later this year.
If it’s just the discs you’ve fitted it sounds like an air gap issue. If the new discs hubs are thicker it will move the TC pickup closer to the sensor. I think the min gap is 1.2mm but don’t hold me to that! But worth checking if you haven’t already Laguna would be mega 💪 what a track!
That swingarm sleeve that you make on your mate's lathe will have to be hardened. How are you going to harden it?
I am planning on using EN19 which is a chromoly that can be bought hardened and a good engineering steel for gears, shafts, etc it can also be hardened with quenching or induction hardening for better control
Yeah it'll have to be case hardened after machining. Let us know how you get on, doing something similar myself. Did you have to take much material off the back of the gearbox to get the swingarm in? Great video.
👏👏👏🤜🤛🏻
👌👏👏👏
+1 like
Up to now the best explanation I've listened to. Spoken in an -even for non native speakers- clear and understandable English. Thank you very much indeed!
With that much dirt in the reservoir the callipers should have been disassembled and cleaned.
Nice vid…. I guess I’m going to be out of pocket 500 quid!! This pay day!!
Glad I could be of assistance…..can’t take it with you…..treat yourself 😁
Just bought a 2003 Mille R from my uncle today with 15k miles. Beautiful bike OZ wheels , ohlins forks and some nice carbon parts here and there and a few xtra stock parts and xtra panels. Mint bike. Can’t wait to ride it. Awesome review.
You won’t be disappointed, happy riding ✊
ide love to know what brand that brake bracket is. I though about buying a cheap ali express left hand side master cylinder and trying to mod a kit up. Since quality thumb brakes are so pricy
I have no idea of the brand as it was a second hand kit from a modified commuter bike but like you say, difficult to find hence the modifications to this one
Please keep these coming at other circuits
Quick question in regards to the side pods and rear bumper, would you then tighten them all in the wet?
Yes absolutely 👍 potentially add the extra bars to the pod bars too and seat stays to stiffen the whole thing depending on how wet it was and tyre grip
Hi 👋 very good job 👍 I would like to ask you please how much long need be the steel brake line from the thumb brake until the back master cylinder ?
Thanks 👍 This was a second hand kit from another bike so the line was already made, luckily it fitted. Was approx 850mm. If you measure what you need with string or similar, HEL will make you a hose to any length
@@ComrodMsportthanks man 🙏
What kind of master cylinder kit is that?
It was a second hand unit from a commuter bike that had been converted so I’m not sure on the clamp hardware. The master cylinder is a Brembo unit
Are the forks from a 675 or a 675 r? I've an r to do and wonder whether they're the same as these? Great video 👍
They are from a standard 675, the R’s have Ohlins fitted. I’ve not had a set of those apart, the internals I’m sure will have differences and certainly have a different fork cap, however all forks have the same components and operating principles
