Fish Whispering TV
Приєднався 1 гру 2014
Fish Whispering TV is an in-depth look at all that encompasses fly fishing -- our sport. Host/producer, Zac Sexton travels locally and distantly to amazing settings to look carefully at the environments surrounding our lakes and streams. His thoughtful take on his experiences -- often with his canine companions Ariell and Chetco, address issues we all must deal with.
Sexton is a writer, photographer, custom rod-maker and fly-fishing expert, with more than 20 years of professional guiding, tying and shop management experience. He surveyed streams and lakes for several government agencies for six seasons, learning the details of how our surface water resources work, scientifically. His belief that the outdoors are where all can find solace, and balance in life reflect in the ripples he fishes.
We will air episodes online, after they have aired on Comcast Sportsnet Northwest cable, and other stations which air our program. Thank you for watching.

FW0401 North Platte river with Crazy Rainbow Lodge
Greetings from coho country, Zac. Keep up the great fishing media! Need good daydreaming to get through the cold weeks till steelhead show up. Thanks for all!
Quick question - is the line guide below the lever removable ? If so, does it still function as any other semi auto reel would ?
I caught a carp with the Bighorn.
Awesome! Hope it was slimy for you. 😉🤠
🤔How'd I miss this one? Cool vid man. PLEASE make some more.
Thank you! This is one of my least popular videos - but, I think it still has a lot of good information! 🤷🏽♂️ I hope to develop this channel more in the upcoming year, in cooperative development with OCR fly reels.
@@fishwhisperingtv9606 I hope so. Theres only a few channels I like to watch on fly fishing and yours is on the top. Besides, it's your fault I'm hooked on bamaboo!!!!!!! Damn it🤣
Zac, what euro fly rod (brand/model) are you using in the “how to use your OCR reel” video? Looks great!
I gave up fly fishing when chain-ballin became de-rerguer over dry fly fishing.
I’d love more bamboo rod building videos!
Thank you for following! I will work on more bamboo goodness in the near future. Any particular subject you are interested in?
Great looking river, just about the perfect size!
It’s certainly one of my favorites!
Great video! what section of river is this?
It’s the upper Blackfoot, below the confluence with the N. Fork.
@@fishwhisperingtv9606 Thank you! I'm planning to visit Montana from Alberta next spring.
@@jeffible5910 Send me a PM and I can suggest some places for you. I used to guide in that area quite a bit. I now guide more east of there near the Montana-Wyoming border. The Blackfoot can be a challenge but it can also be very rewarding!
@@fishwhisperingtv9606 Excellent! Will do!
Hey, do you have an email address?
I agree with everyone here. Keep them coming Zac.
Thank you Terryll. I am working on some stuff and hope to have more footage available in a month or so.
Hey Zac! Learned a lot from your videos over the years. Ever fish NW Montana? Bull River, Lake Creek, Kootenai? Also, what's the name of that first song with the fast finger-picking guitar? Fun stuff. Thanks for all!
Hey Sam! Thanks for your support. I have fished around NW Montana, however not in the Kootenai system. 🤷🏽♂️ Some day I will! I don’t remember the name of the first song in the show. It is part of a body of work the production department had the rights too. We searched for quite a while to find it. If I find the name again, I’ll let you know!
@@fishwhisperingtv9606 No worries Zac! Love the guitar-work. And really appreciate all the fishing tips over the years. I imagine you've got great water in your neighborhood, but if you're ever up in Glacier and don't mind heading west a few hours, the Kootenai system is a wild gem. Native redbands (I'm fairly certain, given that it's a direct Columbia trib, though I can't find any lit. to confirm that) and bull trout call it home. If they ever open up the bull trout fishery, stripping big kokanee flies in the miles below Kootenai Falls would kill. Anyway, wishing you and yours all the best! Tight lines.
Another great video Zac. A Hardy? Did you stop making your own rods? Keep these videos coming, because you keep it real.
Thanks for the support Terryll. I put rod-making on pause for a while, while I moved to Wyoming. I just recently got space for a new rod shop and am beginning production again. I talk about a bit on a show I do with a couple friends at 307NetRadio: 307netradio.com/ondemand/view/1704. We will see what the future holds. I have enjoyed fishing other makers’ rods to see what they are up to and what is expected by the angling public - mostly for euro-nymphing. Hardy makes a great rod. I hope to have my own line of blanks (carbon fiber) in a year or so. I have a small run of graphite and glass I am finishing up, but will mostly be concentrating on bamboo. I hope to be teaching classes in a few months; I’ve been busy volunteering with local kids’ groups to teach them fishing/tying/rod-building skills. It’s been pretty rewarding.
I think I recognize those gloves! Great video.
Hehe. 😉
Great vid Zac. Thanks for posting.
Cool vid. Love those quiet un-pressured streams. Keep the vids coming and stay well.
Thank you. Hope you are doing well, as well!
This is how to release fish. Never leaves the water
Good to see you posting Zac!
Thank you EK. I appreciate your support!
Yaaaa!:Your back. Is there more to follow?
Thank you. I wasn’t sure what I’d be able to get out, but managed a new post just recently. Thank you for your support!
Yes, glad your back man. Hope to see more vids soon.
Thanks Tigersteamer. I am working on posting more often.
So good to see ya back in action. Missed your UA-cam content. It was your TV show that got me into fly fishing.
That is great to hear! I hope you have been finding fulfillment in your angling journeys!
Awesome trout! Congrats
Holy cow! You’re back and still slaying, more please!
Thanks DJ. I’m working on posting more.
Glad to have you return. Missed you and your Puppy.
Thank you, Mr. KAMRAR. I appreciate your support.
He’s back!
I don't know if you still keep tabs on this channel, but I tap in every now and then to see if you have any new videos, I appreciate your casual but knowledgeable style and keep hoping you have some more videos coming.
Thanks @deepblueriver; I appreciate the support! Life is crazy and finding time to make and manage videos seems to slip away. However, I plan to update a bit more often in the near future. I try to not be too “in yer face” about any idea or thoughts. I am most interested in the biomes and ecology as well as the actions of fish and anglers. There’s exceptions to any “rule” so it’s silly to be too sure of one’s self in wilderness.🤷🏽♂️ Please keep tuning in. I’ll try to get more content up soon!
Didn’t know fly anglers still ate trout Thought they just liked Humanely ripping their lips and setting them free! Lol I’m embarrassed to be a fly fisherman in these times... 😂
Goes to show you don’t need to spend big bucks to be a successful fly fisherman.
Might try using a stomach pump to find out what they are feeding on, liked the video very much, well done.
They are very hard to catch on the fly you need a sinking fly Egg. Pattern or a perrywinkle
You are probably seeing mountain white fish tails
Sardine Fishing???
Enjoyed this six year old video but disappointed no video posts in a year.
I liked this one all over again.
I love the blended transition sequence from tying the fly to floating to landing the trout.
What part of the bighorns is this
When are the next round of videos coming? I really enjoy your adventures
Are you planning on a new season?
What length ? Weight rod were you using?
Thanks for the video. I can tell you put a lot of work into them.
I fished the Clark Fork in the late 70s,the spill happened atAnaconda.Ilived in Deerlodge and fished Clark Several times a month with no noticeable change in quality
I have a fly rod my dad passed onto me and someone told me that it maybe worth something! Its got 2 different end piéces for it and is bamboo octagonal. I forget the name now but it's old! Oh ya watch out for them Squatches! 😈
Just found your channel and really dig it. Were you up around Index in this episode?
First video in over a year. Hope everything is OK. Look forward to more adventures.
Is this on the Snoqualmie river system?
I've really been enjoying your videos, Zac! I appreciate your conservation-minded approach to angling. Keep up the great work!
Thank you Daniel. I truly appreciate your support! It seems too few people think about the entirety of the habitat in which we recreate in and how our actions may or may not effect them. I always try to keep it in mind.
Minute 18:20...WTF.
Not sure what you are swearing about at that minute - me catching a fish?
I don't swear! How dare you sir! The clip reminded me of my media hosting days when hosts would hook a fish off camera and have to replicate it again for the live shot. Makes me laugh every time.
@@buddyseiner3274 Funny. It does look like that, and I know that happens - on other people's shows. ;-) It doesn't always work out but I try very hard to get set up for catching everything as it happens. That spot in particular has a steep drop-off right off the bank and holds a lot of fish - usually....
It's a beautiful spot for sure.
You have some of the best fly fishing content on youtube! You seem like someone who would be fun to fish with, and you authentically enjoy the "sport."
Thank you, Ryan. I appreciate your support, truly.
Beautiful place! My grandfather taught me how to flyfish over 60 years ago on those small mountain streams on both sides of the Cascade range in Washington. This video brings back lots of fond memories from over a half century ago. I have two bamboo rods my brother built for me. His name is Mike Brooks. He's retired now but his rods are still highly sought after. He built me a 6' 2/3 weight that will work perfect on those little mountain streams. The other rod is a 7-1/2' 4 weight. Both are absolutely gorgeous! Can't wait for summer to get here!!
