    Heavy squats, behind the neck presses, power cleans, bench presses (of all kinds, dumbbell and olympic bar; flat back and incline), front lateral raises, flys, 40 yard sprints, steroids, masking agents, steroids, HGH. Throw 60-65 feet by graduation. Repeat every four years.

      @@bigburg1 I was a PED-free college shot/discus thrower, and powerlifter/strength athlete into my early 40's. I was also a USPF national ref and Washington state chairman. There's nobody shotputting 65 feet-plus in college without drugs and masking agents. In the 1980's I BP'd 420 without PEDs before 3 certified judges and coached my drug free wife to the USPF Women's Nationals. I was sorely tempted to use PEDs to exceed 500 lbs, but remained Marine-disciplined and didn't. I've known a substantial number of national and world class strength athletes on a close, confidential basis, including the late Brian Oldfield. You're either ignorant or lying about PEDs in modern college T & F. They're all juicing to make throws today in collegiate finals that were Olympic-level efforts in the late 60's/early 70's. The "drug testing" is usually a sham, where college AD's make sure these kids "pass" the urine/blood tests. Olympic and world class sports thrive on phony drug testing because there's too much money at stake without constant improvement in marks every year. If performances leveled off, the TV money would dry up because average viewers would stop watching. Don't BS the public.

    • @islandguy2001

      It's not that they are scratching preventable scratches... for a thrower it's easy (especially in shot) to see if your throw is any good/your best one of the comp etc. If it's fallen clearly a meter short of your best throw so far, what's the point in having it measured - won't matter in a countback if it's that obviously worse too.

    Question: the laser pointer marker device does not use the circle at all during throwing, it seems to be registered from some point off to the right sector area in the back. How does the "triangulation" work if it doesn't use the sector for actual throws? (Presumably was calibrated using the circle beforehand).

    • @bigburg1
      @bigburg1 2 роки тому

      You are correct. The device is calibrated before the competition starts. The positions of the circle center point and the measuring device are already known. The only variable is the marker for measuring the throw. The distance is automatically computed

    • @petervanaken695
      @petervanaken695 2 роки тому

      @@bigburg1 Thanks for the response. Here in NYS at the indoor "lowkey" USATF and indoor high school championship meets, all I see if an official walking into the circle after every legal throw, setting up the tripod, taking a reading, and then calling out the numbers; every single measured throw needs the tripod in the circle. HAH, what was the device setup used for the Millrose Games snafu with the incorrect readings for Crouser and the other elite SP athletes?

    @dpina8854 3 роки тому

    you should really work on getting on top of your left foot on the sweep going into the middle instead of letting your knee fall into the throw, that is one of the reasons why your knee is hurting. i’ve had the same issue. and for the power position the exact same way you’re doing it but put your left foot like an inch or 2 behind your right foot, that is why you are throwing to the right instead of throwing down the middle. the good thing is your body does good positions and gets them right, just time to perfect them!

    • @dpina8854
      @dpina8854 3 роки тому

      and for the power position part with your left foot, it’s so that you can open up your hips more and down the middle instead of your hips being cut off by your left leg!

      Good observation. I am very aware of these problems. It's the exact technique problems that always creep back in when I'm rusty. Even when I'm in shape I struggle with it. As for the foot placement on the powers. I noticed that when I was editing. I think I was just misaligned because there's no circle to judge from. I've been trying to make sure not to do that. This video is like 4 months old though. I'm in mitch better technical shape now

I would recommend that you look on Ryan crouse's Instagram. He did a walking and rotating exercise with a barbell not too long ago that might help. Payton otterdahl also did some rotating movements with a band that he posted on his instagram at some point. Good luck!
