Finally Back! | 405lb Bench For Speed
Where is this comp? I feel like ifr seen that ring before.
👍
Isaac is now known as oba femi in the WWE. Hes the north american champion!
a hole puts chalk down as a guide in comp.....oh dear sad.
Many professional shot putters do that so I'm not really sure what you mean
Nice technigue and throw. I competed against your father back in the early 90s when he was at Western Michigan. Best of luck to you!!
Btw, when I say competed, I meant he won, I probably wasn't even in the finals, but I was in the competition. 😊
Thank you. That's awesome!
Impressive
Thank you!
How much does that ball weigh?
4lbs i want to say
16 pounds
Not quite
Hi Burger, are you back in SA or still competing in the States? Im from your Dad's era while he was still at Waterkloof with Carel Le Roux. Enjoy watching your progress.
Hi there. I am living in the United States permanently, since I got married a few years ago. I am still competing for South Africa and hope to do so next year at Paris. That's good to hear thank you!
Heavy squats, behind the neck presses, power cleans, bench presses (of all kinds, dumbbell and olympic bar; flat back and incline), front lateral raises, flys, 40 yard sprints, steroids, masking agents, steroids, HGH. Throw 60-65 feet by graduation. Repeat every four years.
All except the steroids sounds pretty good
@@bigburg1 I was a PED-free college shot/discus thrower, and powerlifter/strength athlete into my early 40's. I was also a USPF national ref and Washington state chairman. There's nobody shotputting 65 feet-plus in college without drugs and masking agents. In the 1980's I BP'd 420 without PEDs before 3 certified judges and coached my drug free wife to the USPF Women's Nationals. I was sorely tempted to use PEDs to exceed 500 lbs, but remained Marine-disciplined and didn't. I've known a substantial number of national and world class strength athletes on a close, confidential basis, including the late Brian Oldfield. You're either ignorant or lying about PEDs in modern college T & F. They're all juicing to make throws today in collegiate finals that were Olympic-level efforts in the late 60's/early 70's. The "drug testing" is usually a sham, where college AD's make sure these kids "pass" the urine/blood tests. Olympic and world class sports thrive on phony drug testing because there's too much money at stake without constant improvement in marks every year. If performances leveled off, the TV money would dry up because average viewers would stop watching. Don't BS the public.
16 or 12?
It's the NCAA championship. It's 16lb
WHO WON?
Turner Washington
Great Burger! Keep it up! I cannot wait to see you!
These college guys scratch so much, a little silly tbh with it being the most easily preventable scratches too.
Sometimes it looks preventable but in reality it’s not
These guys made it D1 for a reason so
It's not that they are scratching preventable scratches... for a thrower it's easy (especially in shot) to see if your throw is any good/your best one of the comp etc. If it's fallen clearly a meter short of your best throw so far, what's the point in having it measured - won't matter in a countback if it's that obviously worse too.
The only thing I can think is. They know they messed up throwing, and they get 3 chances?
Scratch more than me and I just started
WR 7.29 SEC
2:45 Foul?
i thought so at first too, but that foot didnt touch the top of the toe board.
I'm assuming there were limited allowed angles from which to record. Otherwise, this was probably not the time to reinvent how the event is shot. 🤣
You make this video by wearing a hat 🤠
Why is the field events coverage so terrible? All they seem to cover is the running events and everything else they just speed thru?
Mitch Crouser 20.04, Ryan Crouser 23.37
We did it on the same day
@@bigburg1 wow awesome!
Turner Washington very nice
the thighs on some of these guys is insane
Question: the laser pointer marker device does not use the circle at all during throwing, it seems to be registered from some point off to the right sector area in the back. How does the "triangulation" work if it doesn't use the sector for actual throws? (Presumably was calibrated using the circle beforehand).
You are correct. The device is calibrated before the competition starts. The positions of the circle center point and the measuring device are already known. The only variable is the marker for measuring the throw. The distance is automatically computed
@@bigburg1 Thanks for the response. Here in NYS at the indoor "lowkey" USATF and indoor high school championship meets, all I see if an official walking into the circle after every legal throw, setting up the tripod, taking a reading, and then calling out the numbers; every single measured throw needs the tripod in the circle. HAH, what was the device setup used for the Millrose Games snafu with the incorrect readings for Crouser and the other elite SP athletes?
Wow
Whats was the result
Just added it to description

Sick
Hell yeah man! Thanks!
A champion(goat) in the making
Hey man how’s your season been going this year? As a fellow thrower (10th grade) it’s been fun watching your vlogs/training vids.
High school?
Yeah burger!!!!
Olympics gold medalist now!
Should we train biceps for shotput
It's a good complimentary exercise for overall upper body strength. Definitely don't focus on it.
2:51 that man scratched lmao
Where?
Nah HES good
@UC8QzTnzdHDoesW1vSH-17_Q bruh if u look at his orange she he rubs the top of the board and that is a foul dumb ass
@@ellautu696 chill out bro. Not all of us no the rules. I’m new to this.
It was safe, the orange shoe only ascended the side of the toeboard and didn't go on top. Very difficult call to make in person tho.
I wouldn't feel comfortable sitting that close to the sector, with no protection, and my back to the thrower.
That’s a disaster waiting to happen
I mean she has all the space why did she go there...its kinda dangerous especially if they are doing spins
D1 athletes that have been doing this for awhile and rarely scratch throws
Any tips on transitioning from glide to spin? I saw your progression video and saw that you went from glide to spin.
Take your time. Don't jump right into it. Do 2 weeks of half turns, then ad some south africans after that. After maybe about a month take some slow full throws. Make sure you hit the important positions (there are plenty of videos on this from throws university on youtube). Good luck!
I saw you compete against Crouser!
Nice! I wasn't very happy with my performance there, but still cool to compete with those guys
Hey burger representing South Africa my man i am also from there and i love shotput and discus and i will hope to make a d1 school in America much love man keep up the grind and the vids 👍
Thank you! Sterkte!
I got to watch cause I live in Illinois
Bro did you record disc too?
Unfortunately only half of the comp got recorded😭 I don't know what happened
So yall were in Champaign I seen
Great video, what do I need to do to gain speed through the spin ?
Speed should come almost completely from your right leg sweep
@@bigburg1 thanks I’ll definitely work on my sweep
This is super fun to watch! I love it! You should have heard uncle Sheldon talking you up last night in Arkansas! I wish I could have had it on tape! You’re doing great!!! Sooo proud of you!!!🎉😍🏆👏🏼
you should really work on getting on top of your left foot on the sweep going into the middle instead of letting your knee fall into the throw, that is one of the reasons why your knee is hurting. i’ve had the same issue. and for the power position the exact same way you’re doing it but put your left foot like an inch or 2 behind your right foot, that is why you are throwing to the right instead of throwing down the middle. the good thing is your body does good positions and gets them right, just time to perfect them!
and for the power position part with your left foot, it’s so that you can open up your hips more and down the middle instead of your hips being cut off by your left leg!
Good observation. I am very aware of these problems. It's the exact technique problems that always creep back in when I'm rusty. Even when I'm in shape I struggle with it. As for the foot placement on the powers. I noticed that when I was editing. I think I was just misaligned because there's no circle to judge from. I've been trying to make sure not to do that. This video is like 4 months old though. I'm in mitch better technical shape now
I've been looking for someone that throws d1 and vlogs their meets
Answers to my prayers I wanted a shot put and discus vloger I can learn alot from u
Good technique....I'm a masters thrower .68 years old . Can't glide anymore . Hips. So I am studying your stand ing throws. And I am trying to come up with strength traing specific for power position standing throws
Thank you! Hips are unfortunately one of the most important parts of a standing throw as I am sure you know. Other than normal lifting like over head press or cleans. I would recommend that you look on Ryan crouse's Instagram. He did a walking and rotating exercise with a barbell not too long ago that might help. Payton otterdahl also did some rotating movements with a band that he posted on his instagram at some point. Good luck!
Did you compete?
Yes, I'm the guy in black and red that won
@@bigburg1 nice job dude!!
Love the work you're doing Burger. Keep it up 💪
Loved this!!
Love the combo of travel and throwing! Keep it up!
