A commenter asked me about Irrigreen's claim that it's sprinklers can irrigate a 30 foot radius sprinkler zone with normal water pressure, and if that radius can be even bigger. I decided to do a quick test and demonstration in video form for your viewing pleasure. Please you could clarify a few questions: Do you recommend applying Molasses? And which product? Do you apply it as a foliar or soil method? And under what soil temperature? Do you also apply it to cool-season grass in late fall?

    I know this is off topic but, I noticed that watering in the evening makes my grass roots stronger and the green lasts longer in drought conditions. But the caveat is, there is much more lawn rust. My lawn will have rust almost the entire summer. But watering in the morning seems to dry out my lawn and not look healthy, but less lawn rust😂. Pick your poison. I still water in the evenings and I just dont worry about the lawn rust. I just dont wear shoes when I'm in the lawn, then I wash my feet afterwards. I figured if I get the grass the thickest and healthiest possible, I will eventually not have to water as often and the lawn rust will eventually be minimal in the future

    You are not messing around with the number of cores. 2.5" spacing is 25 core/in^2, two inch spacing is 36 core/si. That is a lot of holes. Depending on the goal, i would think that making more small diameter deeper holes is better than fewer larger shallow holes? I am interested in dealing with sub-surface mole tunnel damage to the roots and missing soil and also an issue with redwood roots stealing the water just under the surface. I am not really sure how to deal with the root issue, short of deep tear out and root cutting, plus re-seeding without killing the tree (which should be fine). I am hoping that deep coring will make a big difference. Also, I dont think that powered rental corers will go deeper than 3". Thoughts? Also, what are your thoughts about the various manual corers? Corona vs Yard Butler or Fiskars?

    I’m new up your channel and so glad I found you. I’ve just started to taking care of my own lawn and have a big problem? The grass started dying in one spot only and the area is getting larger. It’s not water because the rest of the lawn looks green, no grubs are found. I raked the dead grass, it looks like hay and bare dirt is showing. I will reseed but what could be causing it? Thank you

  • @DirtygardenCA

    Yeah it's a lot to ask for accuracy sake once you are pushing over 20-25 ft. I use an Otolawn that shoots over 30 feet but during the day the accuracy suffers with any significant wind, which is why I water early am. 20 feet and shorter though, it is pretty dead nuts I'm sure yours is too.

    • @turfmechanicbriefs
      @turfmechanicbriefs 3 місяці тому

      yep, on those shorter distances of 15-20 feet the unit does great almost always and especially in the 5-15 foot range the unit is crazy accurate during most all normal conditions. And you're right, everywhere I've ever lived the wee hours of the morning tend to be the calmest of the day. I've actually wanted to get my hands on an oto too to compare performance. I reached out to the company to see if they'd send me one but it looks like I'm just a small fry and I'll have to buy it LOL. My thought is that oto can water over a low obstacle while an Irrigreen can't. For instance a single Oto should be able to hit the lawn on both sides of a driveway or sidewalk without actually hitting the sidewalk, while an Irrigreen would need a head for either side.

      Use dish dawn soap(non-bacterial or plain version)/ OR baby shampoo. This moistens up the soil for intaking moisture and water 💦. Also add newer top soil to help. Try detatching prior to, to loosen up the dirt.

    I over seeded my lawn three days ago without covering it. Have a bunch of bare spots that I seeded as well. Now I'm regretting not covering it. We've had a ton of rain since then, so it has stayed moist. Can I still cover with peat moss? Or should I start over and cover it the second time around?

  • @RiseT14

    What would you recommend after dethatching? I mainly have tall fescue, and I have a few bare spots in my yard. I was thinking of throwing down Kentucky Blue Grass seed in those spots and fertilizing the entire lawn afterward. I'm looking at a weed and feed product because I have some crabgrass in the yard as well, but most say don't apply for 3 weeks after seeding

    • @RiseT14
      @RiseT14 6 місяців тому

      In shorter terminology, will fertilizing with a 20-0-3 product help fill in my bare spots or do I have to seed first?
