    I just got a Quickjack 5000 TL and I am trying to lift a C5 convertible with jacking pucks in place. I've run into the same problem with spacing- in other words I need less distance between the lift pockets. I really don't want to move down to a lower rated 3500 model which has the correct pocket spacing to accommodate my car. So I am planning a trip to my local steel supplier to source a couple of pieces of plate. The dimensions that I am going to have the plates cut to is 7-1/2"L x 4"W x 1/2 thick". This will span the lift bars and allow me to center the plate under the puck. I was wondering if the system (and your work around) is still lifting your Corvette safely after 2 years? Have you thought about or tried securing the plates in place in the correct location for your Vette?

    • @JoeyElam
      @JoeyElam 6 місяців тому

      I've had no issues with my plates! I made sure they were wider than the frame (so no worries about misplacing). I thought about perhaps welding them in place -- but i didn't want to permanently modify, and I've ended up using them in a different spot for another car... so the flexibility is great.

    • @timt8365
      @timt8365 6 місяців тому

      @@JoeyElam I think I am going to drill 2 holes about 1/2" from the edge of each plate and countersink the hole so that a socket head cap screw will seat flush with the plate surface. Then I'll drill and tap the Quick Jack rails so that the plate will be securely attached in the spot that is located under the jacking puck. That way I can easily remove the plates when I'm lifting another vehicle that is not my C5 Corvette.

    • @JoeyElam
      @JoeyElam Рік тому

      If your roof is closed completely -- my guess is that is probably one of the windshield header sensors. I think the first think step is unlatching those 2. If either fails to unlatch, or the sensor fails to realize they unlatch, it won't go to the next step in the process. I'll have to pay attention to the first thing that moves the next time I do it! The little cheapy tech2 type tool is what gives you the sensor status so you can get an idea if it's a sensor or mechanical issue. If you remove the trim cover on the convertible top closest to the windshield -- there's a small square hole near the windshield. Inside there you can see the back side of the rotating hook that goes into the windshield. You can actually pry it with a large flat blade screwdriver to manually release (both sides). Good luck!

      Check your trunk partition first -- maybe remove and re-snap those 2 round pop-on holders. There is a sensor in one or both of them. But usually if that is the issue it should tell you that on the dash. But that's probably a sensor failure of some sort . Hi Tom, thank you for posting and so happy to know Brilla is well, happy and enjoying life…, can you tell me if it was osteosarcoma? My dog Ben was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in the left paw and was amputated 1 week ago, he’s having an amazing recovery but the vet told me to do chemotherapy next, but he does not have methastasis elsewhere and I have a lot of doubts about chemo… can you tell me if Brilla had chemo?

    • @efamadventures
      @efamadventures 2 роки тому

      Yes, Brilla had osteosarcoma at the wrist. About 25% of that lower leg bone. I went to a dog oncologist for 2nd opinion, and yes we followed up with chemo treatments. This is to kill any potential cancer spread that you can't see in x-rays. The stats for survival after amputation without chemo are very poor. Much better survival time with Chemo. it's s a tough decision to make, we struggled with what to do as well. In the end we decided to do whatever we could to end the pain and extend her life as long as her quality of life is good... My understanding is that there is almost always spread at some point. The chemo is to try to catch it early. Even that supposedly it usually comes back eventually... Check out Brilla Facebook page link in the comments and you can scroll through the posts about her journey. She's 12 months post chemo and doing well! Good luck. Feel free to ask more questions!

      Here was the prognosis from the dog oncologist: Average median survival times: Palliative therapy: 3-4 months (concern for pathologic fracture) Amputation alone: 4-6 months (concern for metastatic disease) Amputation with aggressive chemotherapy: 12+ months (concern for metastatic disease). I found statistics for each option online from a few sources as well.

    Hi eFam After watching your videos l realize we have a few things in common, ducks and C10 pickups. I have raised lots of ducks over the years including Muscovies. I live in the bush in Canada and have a small pond. I put up Wood Duck boxes for the small but colourful Wood Ducks to nest in about 12 feet above the ground or water. They usually nest in trees but hard to find natural cavities, hence the boxes. Their habits are within a few days of birth the chicks drop out of the box to the ground or water below. I eventually learned that the Bard Owls would pick them off. Very vulnerable. So l used to take some eggs out of box and put under a broody Muscovy or Bantum hen and they would hatch them and feed them to about 60 days when (as the book says) they will take flight and come back for several days then they become wild and aloof that is their natural behavior. I got tired of feeding the owls so this way they had a good chance. I don't have any ducks anymore (miss them) and also spending too much time on my C10. All the best TBM in Canada
