Yes, conventions have been strong for a couple years now. Unfortunately, many dealers have not corrected their prices on graded books and a large majority of what they sell is raw. Unfortunately, there isn't any kind of database that collects a significant amount of raw sales data to make it a good source. Convention sales aren't tracked at all. This downward trend is not close to being over, in my opinion. I just don't think people are putting the same value on comics as they were a few years ago. I haven't thought of adding Batman 251, but that's an interesting suggesting. The 9.8 had a record breaking sale in 2024 and the other grades seem to holding strong. Much slower decline than the Marvel keys. Appreciate the suggestion.

Good question. If I just take all books that are 9.0 over higher on the census, Hulk #181 has around 3000, X-Men #1 has 78, FF #1 has 20, and Hulk #1 only 15. So, it's definitely the rarest for all of the big Marvel keys. Let me know if you have any other questions.

The word grail is used too much in every hobby. At the end of the day the condition is really the value. There is Hulk 1 for a half a million at a 9.0. on eBay. If you're referring to the Gerber scarcity index, almost zero comics fit into their definition of rare (11-20 copies). For the real world, rare is a subjective term and, yes, some books are more rare than others. HOS 92 is much more rare than ASM 129, and Hulk 1 is the rarest of any book in this video. Just referring to the CGC census. That's all.

Poor? Average is one way to look at data. Median is another. Neither are perfect. But I wouldn't call either "poor". I state multiple times that averages can be misleading, which is why I also show the changes in individual grades. Showing just median data can be misleading as well. I encourage you to make a video with just median values. I'll be the first one to watch, and I promise I won't spam it with negative and condescending comments.

You do realize that many of these books are starting to have sales that are pre COVID values, don't you? Also, why would you imply that people are stupid for buying comics at heightened COVID prices? No one could predict when that bubble would burst. You seem to have all the answers, so please tell us when the market will stop "correcting". We would love to hear.

Yes, good question. I tried explaining at the beginning when I show my "criteria". I only use grades that sold at the end of the year (mostly Nov and Dec) and then use the data for those grades from the entire year. I do that because I'm trying to compare sales prices from the end of 2024 to the beginning of 2024 (or end of 2023). Appreciate you watching. Let me know if you have any other questions.

I think you are spot on. There is absolutely fatigue, even though big keys are still going for big money....the slow drop is continuing with no end in sight. Golden Age books are extremely strong, and as people become more aware of them, the interest and demand are increasing. Thanks for the comment.

I am definitely going to do Golden Age. Just trying to figure out how to organize it, because I think we'll see differences between superhero books and horror/science fiction. Also going to be adding more DC to Silver and Bronze Age as well. Thanks for the comments.

ASM 14 is arguably the best villain key in the title! You can get a 5.0 (nice grade) for roughly $2K right now. Keep in mind the price on that book is still slowly dropping as well. If it's a long-term hold, I would try to get the best grade possible, even if it means saving a little longer to get a 7.0. That would put you close to top 20% on the census. Whatever grade you buy, try to get White Pages. Better for long term value. Regardless, can't go wrong with ASM14! Good luck with the search.

From what I've seen recently, most dealers have started reducing prices but not to fair market value. They are still high. That being said, there is a small percentage of dealers that I've seen with very fair prices, and they seem to be moving way more books than the rest. I think we'll continue to see big keys from the Silver Age and Bronze age continue to fall (albeit slowly), and I agree with your sentiment that this is a good thing for collectors.
