Belkin F5D8235
In today's video we will be talking about a Belkin router, scary I know. The Belkin F5D8235 router is a little over 10 years old and today I will be walking you through its basic setup tutorial with the hope of making the setup easier to understand and with less unnecessary details than other videos about similar models. This will be my first video not referencing the music I used since I do not have ads and the music is free to use by the community. I hope everyone enjoys the video and had a great Halloween!

      The way this device works is the following... ISP(Internet Service Provider) -> House -> Wall Outlet -> Router -> Wi-Fi + Unmanaged Switch -> Your Devices you want on the internet. The Router handles IP Protocol communication, AKA IPv4 with NAT(Network Address Translation) or IPv6 ( no NAT required ). Try to use IPv6 when you can and avoid IPv4 all together as it introduces NAT which can severely limit your ability to play with others or even just play properly and you wouldn't even notice. The Router creates a Wi-Fi Field and Network that other wireless devices can connect to. The Router also tends to provide some ports that you can use to connect up devices physically, with a cable, vs using Wi-Fi. This device, the one being reviewed in the video (TP Link TL SF1005D), is called an Unmanaged Switch. All it really does is add physical ports, if all the ports on the Router are taken up. For it to work you need what is called a dedicated backhaul cable, It's just a basic CAT cable of sufficient quality, aka CAT 5e, CAT 6, CAT6e, etc, coming from one of the Router's ports to this Unmanaged Switch. After that, you connect up other devices, via wire, to the Unamanged switch, and now those devices have a wired connection to your network.

      but if you have lost power, than unplug it from power supply, wait 1 min and than press for 10 sec the reset button on the back. after it, plug in the power supply and switch on the onn/off switch on the back. If no light's are comming, the router or power supply will be damaged. if you see some light but it doesn't start up, than the firmware will be damaged. if you see some light and it starts normal, and you can connect from pc than all be good.

    Can I upgrade the current WNDR3700v2 N600 firmware to the new version 4 firmware? Will there be any problems with the wireless ethernet RJ45 router? New versions of firmware might help fix some problems with the wireless ethernet RJ45 router. Or completely buy a new top-of-the-line wireless ethernet RJ45 router to have the whole house covered by Wi-Fi and ethernet. Also looking to replace my old Ampedwireless 300 2.4ghz wireless repeater router I'm looking for faster-speed Powerline devices. Right now I have two XE104 Netgear Powerline 85 GBs devices. Best bet is to reset the router by holding down the reset button for about 20 seconds. You’ll have to go through setup again; naming the Wifi, setting up a password, etc. If that doesn’t work then the transmitter may have gone out or got corrupted because of software. In that case best bet would be to cut your losses and get a new one or a used one. It’s rare for them to just break or stop working so used will be fine.

      It’s held up without any problems. A year ago a section of the cable was cut with a gardening tool and I had to dig up about 15-20 ft of the cable to replace the section. After years underground the wire has shown little signs of wear and the ethernet connector has also held up. Keep in mind these cables weren’t designed for this environment, as many have commented, but they were a cheap and easy solution to my needs. I hope this helps some, do you have any other questions?

      Yes it will. Usually a switch will have 4-5 ports on the back to connect ethernet. After that one cable is connected the others will provide internet when cables are connected to them.

      Ajay Menon I haven’t had this router in a long time so I’ll try my best to tell from memory. If you follow the instructions in the video I should tell you how to get to the menu. On the left side there is usually a section called “Schedule”. That sections allows you to turn off the wifi signal for a selected time. If it is not in the Schedule section, I would look for things such as Administrator settings or go through the menus until you see an option to do what you’re asking about. I can’t guarantee your version will have these settings but most routers back then did.

    • @simplicityelectricity8710
      @simplicityelectricity8710 4 роки тому

      I’m glad you asked. Many older routers like this one cannot share wifi without being connected via ethernet cable. In this case, unless you were using a router newer than this one, you can’t make them share a connection without a cable to my knowledge. However, if you can connect this router or any other one to your desired wifi I would recommend giving it the same name and password, that way devices such as your phone will always choose the strongest connection vs trying to reach a router you’re far away from.
