Cats Ringing Bells for Treats
This is a short video of two of our cats ringing their bells for treats. We have not managed to train the third cat to ring a bell yet. This video was filmed using a Sony FX3 and Insta360 one RS 1" 360 camera. I have been wanting to make a video of the cats performing for their treats for quite some time. However, it turned into a bit of an obsession to try and get all of the sounds in the video.

    Thank you for a well explained FOCUS STACKING Tutorial. I have thought of trying this method for some time, and I finally found your video by accident on UA-cam. I recently acquired the GF20-35mm and I will try the method you have just explained. Also, I will try the HELICON software. By the way, I have an older iMac 27" i9 Processor with 96GB RAM Memory. Do you think it is sufficient to handle the files? I have used the iMac for general purpose editing, but not for any focus stacking. I like your tripod head. Would you share also the model/brand and where to purchase them? I Subscribed and LIKED. Thanks again!!!

      I use manual mode about 99% of the time. For focus bracketing you want to use manual mode when possible so that the only thing that changes between images is the focal distance.

    what do you mean by the phrase "perfect photo?" for me it could be a photo with an aeroektar178 mm lens. For me it's not a miracle, the cactus outlines are not sharp and it can look really bad when other things are sharp. There are lenses that do not change their image size when the focus changes on other points, but you don't have that. I'm sure you can take a photo of your hand. and then think about how much time you spent on one photo. And so you compromise on what your computer produces (haha) why are you taking photos in such an ugly sun? the sharpness may even be on the back of the printed photo. the light is so ugly.

    Very nice, but small! I'm looking forward to Recon's new garageable truck camper which offers more room. It won't get quite the gas mileage that the NV200 gets (more around 18-20), but I can take the camper and put it on an electric truck in the future once new models emerge and the range improves. With the NV200 everything is built in, so I'd have to sell the entire van. I really want to go electric in the future and a truck camper seems like the perfect solution. Love the direction Recon is going!

    A good movie. However, it has two drawbacks. First of all, when the parameters are set on the camera, they are the most important and Erik's face should not be visible. Three methods of obtaining sharp photos were compared. In my opinion, it was necessary to merge the photos three times and compare the final photos obtained. Regards, Mirek.

    Hi. Can you confirm that focus points A and B remain the same when the series is repeated? This can be achieved with a focus rail, but I am looking for a faster way to always cover the same focus area using bracketing. I am currently using a Canon R5, but this does not offer an A B setting.

Press the drive button and select BKT (6th down on the left) then select “FOCUS BKT” (4th on the right) 2. Press the menu button and goto the camera icon (3rd down on the left) and select “FOCUS BKT SETTINGS”. This allows you to chose between Manual and Auto. From here you can set up the bracketing setting how ever you want. As long as you are in the “FOCUS BKT” drive setting it will use what ever the “FOCUS BKT SETTINGS” are configured for. The key is to make sure your in Focus bracketing drive setting. Hope this helps Eric

    Great video Eric, thanks for sharing. I have GFX + GF 63mm lens, which is an external focus lens (the field of view can change quite a bit depending on where in a scene I've selected to focus). May I ask; with such a lens, how do you go about composing and then selecting the focal points so the end result of stacked images retain the desired composition? The 63mm seems to have quite a 'zoom' effect through its focal range, especially apparent when stacking a subject that's close-up. Many thanks in advance! Andrew

    • @EricGebhard
      @EricGebhard Рік тому

      Unfortunately the Fuji GF lens have quite a bit of focus breathing. I would suggest that you figure out which focus position is zoomed in the most and use that for composing. To start the stack images I would start at the closest focus point. Fortunately the focus stacking software compensates for the focus breathing. Hopefully this helps. Eric

    Eric, that was a very relaxing review. GFX Fuji’s is what I need for my studio portraits. I shoot with my Sony a7iii with a few primes and one zoom lens. But I wanted to step into medium format but at that time you only had two options Hasselblad or Phase One and those were very very expensive. Now I been shooting for over 40years with medium format for studio Portrait’s and 35mm for faster actions . When shoot families and children’s it’s more of methodical composing with attention composition. And Fuji GFX is what I been wanting for with an affordable price. I leaning toward the Fuji gfx 50sii with the 45-100mm f4 gfx lens. That’s all I would need and maybe perhaps the gfx 110mm f2 prime. That would be perfect for my Fine-art photography. What you think? Also how do you like the gfx 45-100mm f4? And why? Thanks for sharing.

    • @EricGebhard
      @EricGebhard Рік тому

      Jean-Michal, Thank you. The GFX 50Sii is a great option, especially if you are using a tripod. 50 megapixels is plenty and for the price it is a hard camera to beat. I used to use a GFX 50R and never worried about a lack of megapixels. One thing to keep in mind is that you may need more file storage space because of the large file sizes. The 45-100mm f4 lens it is my favorite lens for the GFX. It is approximately a 36-80mm f3.2 full frame equivalent lens. If I had to chose just one lens it would be the 45-100mm. In my experience it is the sharpest and most versatile lens I own. The downside is it is big and heavy, but if you are not hauling it on your back for several miles the weight is not an issue. Another thing to keep in mind, which maybe helpful to you for portraits, is that the GFX has a very shallow depth of field. The good news is that the focus fall off is very smooth so the shallow depth of field is not too noticeable. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.

      @@jean-michelargentin5465 Yea I'm old enough to remember film. I always used 35mm. In High School I took 2 semesters of photography. All we shot was B&W and we had to develop and print everything ourselves in the darkroom. You kind of felt like a mad scientist when working in the darkroom. I used a Canon AT-1 (fully manual camera) at the time and it was great. You're right, there is nothing like looking through a view finder and seeing the scene real time. I have yet to see an EVF that is as good as a viewfinder on an SLR.

      @@EricGebhard aha we came from the same experience. One day years ago in the darkroom I have a vision like I always do but at that time I had no way to bring to this realm-but finally I was able to in 2016

    Thanks, you've given me the confidence to try again-was getting quite a lot of ghosting, most likely by no selecting enough focus points and possible editing each frame differently before stacking.

    • @EricGebhard
      @EricGebhard Рік тому

      You're welcome and thank you for the kind words. I would recommend taking extra focus points. It is very easy to not use an image for the stack versus trying to go back and get more images. Editing all of the images exactly the same (this includes white balance) is really important and makes stacking the images much easier.

    I think all the people are preferring Fujifilm. I shall have to think now. These days whenever I search UA-cam I only came across only Fujifilm, only Fujifilm, only Fujifilm cameras by some renowned photographer whose names I used to get below the pictures in travel magazines. Had I but known about this camera earlier I would have thought the other way round.

      Fuji is making some really nice cameras right now. They appear to be dominating the medium format market at the moment.

    Nice build in the process of doing similar, interesting the variations of spec , mine is a 1.5 diesel, mine has 4 bolt wheels not 5 , centre console is different, I fitted 205 60 16 on mine so similar

      Thank you. In the US you could only get a gas version. Personally, I wish we could have gotten the diesel version because then we could have installed a diesel heater. Would have taken the chill out of the cold winter nights.

    This is wonderful. Do you have a video on how you trained the cats to do this? Or perhaps how they trained you?

    • @EricGebhard
      @EricGebhard Рік тому

      Thank you. I don't have a video about training them. It really didn't take too much time to train them provided they are willing to learn and like treats. I just set the bell out and worked with them one at a time starting with me ringing the bell then giving them a treat. After that I got them to touch the bell for a treat. Finally, they started to touch the button on the bell so it would ring and they would get a treat. In all it took a couple of evening treat sessions before they figured it out. We do have a third cat, and try as I might she will not ring the bell.

    A really good video Eric, thank you. My GFX100s does not appear to work in the same way as yours when using the Auto method. I notice you have your camera in Manual (on the toggle near the viewfinder) and that you can tap the screen to focus on Point A and Point B. Mine does not allow this function, I have to manually focus (rather than tap the screen). Do you have any idea why this may be? I’ve attempted it in Single, Continuous and Manual.

      It's a setting you can setup in the menus. Go to the SET UP menu and select BUTTON/DIAL SETTING, TOUCH SCREEN SETTING, and make sure TOUCH SCREEN SETTING is set to ON for the camera. At least this is how it appears to work on my camera.

    Nice video. Are you able to park in covered parking garage? Thanks

    • @EricGebhard
      @EricGebhard Рік тому

      Thank you. We park the van in our garage which has an 8 foot tall opening. I have measured the height from the ground to the top of the boxes and it is about 6 feet 9 inches tall so it should fit into a standard 7 foot tall garage opening. Being able to park the van in our garage was very important because we can not park it outside were we live.
